Abstract:
The invention is an improved stencil system for forming symmetrical
contours on eyebrows. The system consists of a pair of modified eyeglass
frames that hold the accompanying flexible, reusable, dual eyebrow
stencil in place on the raised centerpiece. This allows for the easy
application of brow powder to form symmetrical brow contours on the face.
The frames have a raised centrepiece that holds the stencil against the
bridge of the nose leaving the hands free to steady the stencil and apply
makeup. The variety of included stencils can be re-positioned vertically
on the centrepiece according to the user's desired brow placement. After
the contour is applied to the brow area, a second "browstroke" stencil
may be positioned overtop, using the contour as a guide. Simulated brow
hairs may be added by brushing darker brow powder over the "browstroke"
stencil.Claims:
1. An eyebrow contour device (8) and stencils (7, 7b) consisting of a
pair of modified eyeglass frames that hold the accompanying eyebrow
stencil template (7) in place for the purpose of aiding the application
of makeup (ie: brow powder) to form level, symmetrical contoured
eyebrows. The frames have a raised centrepiece (9) that holds the stencil
template (7) against the bridge of the nose leaving the hands free to
apply makeup. The stencils (7) can be re-positioned vertically on the
raised centrepiece (9) depending upon the user's desired brow placement
on the face.
2. An eyebrow contour device (8) and stencils (7) according to claim 1, wherein the stencil template (7) (which is the part containing center female cut-outs (11) fits onto the raised centrepiece (9) (which is the part bearing raised interlocking male counterparts) (10).
3. An eyebrow contour device (8) and stencils (7) according to claim 1, wherein the emphasis is focused on applying the makeup to the eyebrows symmetrically.
4. An eyebrow contour device and stencils (7) according to claims 1 and 2, wherein the application of makeup to the stencil requires only a single finger to hold the flexible stencil to follow the curvature of the individual face (FIG. 6).
5. An eyebrow contour device (8) and stencils (7, 7b) according to claims 1 and 2, wherein a selection of brow stencils (FIG. 3) are included in a variety of shapes, widths and distance from centre.
6. An eyebrow contour device and stencils according o claim 1, that includes "browstroke" stencils (7b) to be used to apply natural looking simulated brow hairs after the symmetrical eyebrow contours are in place, giving a realistic looking brow.
7. An eyebrow contour device and stencils according to claim 1, wherein the thin and compact nature of the device has hinged arms that fold flat for ease of use, storage and portability.
8. An eyebrow contour device and stencils according to claim 1, wherein the ease of use allows for very little skill or practice to create the desired look (FIG. 6 & FIG. 7).
Description:
DISCUSSION
[0001] This invention relates to cosmetic devices in the area of eyebrow stencils. Stencils are used by those who may not have eyebrows, those who have lost eyebrows due to illness, those who have sparse eyebrows or those who would like to enhance existing eyebrows. A stencil can be a functional, time-saving tool for applying simulated eyebrows. The additional "browstroke" stencils add realistic simulated brow hairs to the look.
[0002] There are several eyebrow stencils available on the market. These are often single brow stencils which must be held in place by hand while make-up is applied and then flipped over to do the second brow These stencils are awkward in that aligning right and left as well as the angle of the stencil results in mismatched brows. With the consideration that most eyebrows are applied at the end of makeup routine, having to redo mismatched brows results in having to redo base makeup. While some stencils may have handles, these are still hand held which makes accurate makeup application difficult. Until this product, previous stencils did not include "brow stroke stencils" which give the appearance of realistic brow hairs and an overall more natural look.
PRIOR ART
[0003] Several methods of stencils and devices have been created in an attempt to aid the application of symmetric and shapely simulated eyebrows. Examples of such methods and devices include: U.S. Pat. No. 5,662,129 Grenevitch; CA Patent Number 2948029 Lehner; CA Patent Number 1091124 Dyson.
[0004] Several of the methods in the aforementioned patents involve stencils, but are lacking in the ease, symmetry and control of use as well as the detail of individual brow hairs. Some stencils do not remain in place without the user holding the stencil against the skin while drawing with an eyebrow pencil in the other hand. Another device uses a wraparound-the-head method which does not provide vertical adjustment of the stencil and is also cumbersome and uncomfortable for the user. In the application where the method uses a hand-held device, the issue of symmetry and ease of use is the same as single stencils regarding awkward, mismatched application.
[0005] Additionally, many of the stencils are static or do not provide the user with a variety of eyebrow shapes, sizes, distance from centre and individual brow strokes. The stencils that do provide a variety of shapes and sizes do not have a method to hold two eyebrow stencils in place with the option of vertical control according to the users needs.
Therefore, there is a need for an eyebrow stencil system that:
[0006] a) aids in the formation of symmetrical brow contours
[0007] b) is self-supporting, dual eye
[0008] c) is simple to use
[0009] d) offers a selection of stencils in varying sizes, shapes and distance from center,
[0010] e) is vertically adjustable
[0011] f) offers "browstroke stencils" to enhance the contours with realistic looking brow
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0012] The invention is an eyebrow contour stencil system that solves the identified issues as the device holds a two-brow stencil template in place against the bridge of the nose, allowing the application of easy; accurate and symmetrical brow contours using a brush to apply brow powder over the stencil. The template (7) (which is the part containing cutouts) can be re-positioned vertically on the raised centrepiece (9) (which is the part bearing raised interlocking nodes) depending on the users desired brow placement.
[0013] The user chooses their preferred brow stencil template (7), attaches it to the stencil holder glasses (8) at the desired height, puts the glasses on and applies brow powder to stencil opening (7a) to form even, symmetrical eyebrow contours, (FIG. 6)
[0014] Upon completion of the contours and using them as a guide, the user may accurately position and hold the "browstroke" stencil overtop (7b) and apply a darker brow powder resulting in realistic looking simulated brow hairs for a more natural, brow appearance. (FIG. 7)
[0015] For those who have their own natural eyebrows but would like to fill in or enhance their brows, they may use the "browstroke" stencils independent of brow glasses as they may already have a natural template to use as a guide.
[0016] A brow shadow primer may be applied to the skin before the process to enhance the longevity and look of the brow.
[0017] The glasses will be made of a non-toxic, non-irritating plastic. The stencils will be made of flexible, clear acetate 10 mil.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS (FIGS. 1-6)
