DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0011] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new glove embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
[0012] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the heat resistant glove 10 generally comprises a shell 12 that is hand shaped and flexible. The shell 12 has a first end 14 and a second end 16. The first end 14 comprises a set of five tubes 18. The second end 16 is open, such that the shell 12 is configured to receive a hand of a user inserted through the second end 16 positioning the fingers and thumb of the hand into the tubes 18.
[0013] Preferably, the second end 16 of the shell 12 comprises a collar 20. Also preferably, the shell 12 has an inner surface 22 that is hypoallergenic. A first fastener 24 is coupled to the shell 12 proximate to the second end 16. Preferably, the first fastener 24 is coupled to a bottom face 26 of the shell 12 and extends from a thumb side 28 of the shell 12 to proximate to a pinky side 30 of the shell 12. Also preferably, the first fastener 24 is substantially rectangularly shaped and has a first terminus 32 that is rounded.
[0014] The glove 10 also comprises a flap 34 that has a first edge 36 and a second edge 38. The first edge 36 is coupled to the shell 12 proximate to the second end 16. Preferably, the first edge 36 is coupled proximate to a second terminus 40 of the first fastener 24. Also preferably, the flap 34 is substantially rectangularly shaped and the second edge 38 is rounded. A second fastener 42 is coupled to the flap 34. The second fastener 42 is complementary to the first fastener 24. The second fastener 42 is positioned to couple with the first fastener 24 to compress the second end 16 of the shell 12 around a wrist of the user. Preferably, the first fastener 24 and the second fastener 42 are selected from the group of fasteners consisting of nylon hook and nylon loop fasteners.
[0015] A guard 44 is coupled to the bottom face 26 of the shell 12. The guard 44 is positioned on the shell 12 such that heated objects can be held in the hand of the user when the hand is positioned in the shell 12. The guard 44 is heat resistant. Preferably, the guard 44 is positioned on the tubes 18 and a palm area 46 of the shell 12. Also preferably, the guard 44 comprises a set of five tip protectors 48. Each tip protector 48 is coupled to a respective tube 18 at the first end 14 of the shell 12. The tip protectors 48 are positioned on the tubes 18 such that the ends of the user's fingers and thumb are insulated from a heated object held in the hand of the user when the hand is positioned in the shell 12.
[0016] In use, the second end 16 is open, such that the shell 12 is configured to receive a hand of a user inserted through the second end 16, positioning the fingers and thumb of the hand into the tubes 18. The second fastener 42 is positioned to couple with the first fastener 24 to compress the second end 16 of the shell 12 around a wrist of the user. The guard 44 is positioned on the shell 12 such that heated objects, such as heated stones used in hot stone massage, can be held in the hand of the user when the hand is positioned in the shell 12.
[0017] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0018] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word "comprising" is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article "a" does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
