DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0011] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new sports card displaying device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
[0012] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the display frame assembly 10 generally comprises a back wall 12 that has a front side 14, a back side 16 and a peripheral edge 18. The peripheral edge 18 includes a top edge 20, a bottom edge 22, a first side edge 24 and a second side edge 26. The back wall 12 is elongated from the first side edge 24 to the second side edge 26 and has a substantially rectangular configuration, though the corners thereof may be arcuate as is shown in FIG. 2. The top 20 and bottom 22 edges each have a length equal to 12.0 inches and the first 24 and second 26 side edges has height is equal to 6.0 inches. The back wall 12 may be comprised of a foamed plastic and has a depth equal to less than 0.5 inches. This size allows for conventional vehicle license plate coverings to be used with the back wall 12 wherein the license plate coverings include various logos 28 or statements.
[0013] A covering 30 is removably positionable on and the back wall 12 and covers the front side 14 of the back wall 12. The covering 30 comprises a front wall 32 having a perimeter edge 34 and a perimeter lip 36 that is attached to the perimeter edge 34. The perimeter lip 36 is coextensive with the perimeter edge 34 and extends rearward of the front wall 32. The perimeter lip 36 abuts the peripheral edge 18 to releasably engage the covering 30 with the back wall 12. The covering 30 is comprised of a substantially transparent material. The front wall 32 has an exterior surface 38 that is convexly arcuate and an interior surface 40 is concavely arcuate for reasons stated below.
[0014] A plurality of sleeves 42 is mounted on the front side 14 and each of the sleeves 42 has an opening 44 therein. Each of the sleeves 42 has a size and shape configured for receiving a sports card 46. The term sports card may include any type of card typically associated with baseball cards, football cards, hockey cards, soccer cards and the like or which have a same size and are used for other collecting purposes Each of the sleeves 42 is comprised of a transparent material. The covering 30 and/or the sleeves 42 may comprise a UV light blocking material to help preserve the coloration of the cards 46 being displayed. The opening 44 of each of the sleeves is directed upwardly toward the top edge 20.
[0015] A pair of fasteners 48 extends through the covering 30 and the back wall 12 to releasably retain the covering 30 on the back wall 12. Each of the fasteners 48 includes a head 50 and threaded shaft 52. The head 50 of each of the fasteners 30 is abutted against the exterior surface 38 of the covering 30 and each of the shafts 52 extends away from the back side 16 of the back wall 12. Each of the fasteners 48 further includes a nut 54 threadably coupled to one of the shafts 52. Each of the fasteners 48 is positioned between the top edge 20 and the sleeves 42.
[0016] A tether 56 is attached to and extends between the fasteners 48. The tether 56 is positioned adjacent to the back side 16 and is configured to allowing mounting of the back wall 12 on a dwelling wall surface such as on a conventional hook used for hanging picture frames on a wall. Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 1, an easel 58 may be provided for supporting the back wall 12 and covering 30 an upright orientation.
[0017] In use, the assembly 10 is used for storing and protecting a plurality of sports cards 46. The assembly 10 allows for viewing of a plurality of sports cards 46, such as up to three sports cards 46, with a covering 30 having a shape that will protect the sports cards 46 and will not abut the sports cards 46 such that moisture will not cause the sports cards 46 to adhere to the covering 30. The size of the back wall 12 allows the user to alter the covering 30 with team embossed license plate covers so that the logo 28 thereon is reflective of the sports cards 46 positioned in the sleeves.
[0018] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0019] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word "comprising" is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article "a" does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
