Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates generally to the field of sports equipment. More specifically, the present invention relates to ball racquets that specifically accommodate to the shape of the ball and the comfort level of the users.

[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] A racquet is often used in a ball game to hit or control a ball, and propel it toward the opponents or a goal. Generally, racquets comprise a head frame, a handle, and a net disposed within the head frame. Many racquets for different types of games share similar shapes and structures with a circular or elliptical shaped head frame and a straight handle. The handle of the racquet often passes the central line of the circular or elliptical head frame, making it substantially symmetrical.

[0005] Over the past few decades, many improvements have been proposed to adjust the head frame, the handles or the nets of racquets to a certain extent. However, the overall shape and structure of a racquet has not been significantly altered. Overall, a user still has to adjust the way of gripping and swinging the racquet according to the shape of the racquet. The types of balls used with these racquets are relatively limited, due to the limited adaptation of the structure of current racquets.

[0006] Therefore, there is a recognized for a racquet that is specifically adapted to the shape and the size of the ball, and the user's comfort level while holding it. Particularly, the prior art is deficient in this respect. The present invention fulfills this long standing need and desire in the art.

A plurality of slots are disposed through the head frame and a portion of the handle that connects the top rim and the bottom rim and a net is disposed within the head frame comprising a plurality of strings passing through the slots.

[0008] The present invention also is directed to a sports racquet comprising a head frame having a curved side rim disposed in a connecting relationship with a straight top rim and a straight bottom rim substantially parallel to each other. A handle is affixed to the head frame in opposition to the side rim between the straight top rim and the straight bottom rim. A plurality of openings are equally spaced through the head frame and a portion of the handle and a plurality of strings comprising a net pass through the openings.
