Themed and ornamental "flip flop" footwear

Abstract

The present invention in a first embodiment comprises flip flop style footwear displaying themed foot bed as well as charm elements attached to the upper foot strap. Said charm elements will be attached by method of a fastener integrated into the upper foot strap. Charm elements will be supplied with the pair of flip flop footwear and will also be interchangeable to suit the consumer's personal choice and style. It is therefore another aspect, advantage and objective of this invention to utilize environmentally sensitive materials for flip flop elements such as the foot bed and or lower sole portions. Such materials may be comprised of recycled foams and rubbers (i.e. yoga mat material).

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] Existing open toe and upper footwear, or `flip flops", are a common fashion item. Current versions are available in a variety of materials and colors which only provide a limited amount of personalization to the fashion element. This invention allows for a themed version of flip flop footwear. The invention creates flip flop footwear that is environmentally sensitive, and highly customizable. The foot pad, or upper sole, the portion making contact with the bottom of the foot, will be decorated with a particular themed design and then complimented with charms attached to the thong strap on the flip flop. The charm elements will be provided with the flip flop footwear, but may also be customized by the wearer as commonly sourced charm elements may be interchanged with the charm elements provided.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The product is an open toed and open upper foot thong (flip-flop) styled shoe. The shoe base, or sole, will be constructed using a non-skid sole bonded to a padded foot contouring inner sole. The inner sole material will be made of environmentally sensitive materials including but not limited to recycled materials. The straps are constructed using layers of various materials all bonded together and stitched; a soft fabric inner liner, a middle layer of cushioning material, and a decorative top layer material. Each extra-wide foot strap has varied quantities of fastening elements, allowing for the attachment of various themed charms by the wearer. The shoes will be designed using varied colors, styles and themes. The third-party supplied charms, each having a swivel clasp, will be offered in themed sets or may be selected individually from open stock. The charms and fastening elements will be offered in different finishes. The shoe will be manufactured using environmentally sensitive (green) products and recycled materials wherever possible.

(2) Shows the widened foot strap which also demonstrates a possible configuration of (3) themed, decorative charm elements. The foot strap is then joined to the sole utilizing a (4) toe strap as typically found in flip flop style footwear.

[0004] FIG. 2 shows the "flip flop" footwear from a front view. This view displays a version of the layered sole. The sole layers may contain the (1) foot pad, the (6) inner sole and the (7) lower sole, all comprised of environmentally sensitive materials.
