BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0004] (1) Field of the Invention
[0005] The present invention relates to head garments or coverings, and, more particularly, to head coverings including hats or hoods. More specifically, the invention relates to camouflage clothing and to a camouflage head covering intended for use by hunters. In particular, the invention relates to the formation of a disposable hat that utilizes contoured elastics for use as hunting hat cover
[0006] (2) Background of Invention
[0007] Hunters, particularly bow hunters, must get very close to game animals and birds. Therefore, they often wear camouflage clothing, including head and face coverings, to avoid detection. One type of camouflage head covering is a hood that covers the wearer's entire head and face with the exception of an eye opening that is covered by mesh or netting. Such hoods are not wholly satisfactory because the hood tends to remain in position when the wearer's head is turned from side-to-side. This severely restricts side visibility.
[0008] Caps are sometimes used to protect the wearer from glare. Caps are distinguished by a visor that is formed from a thin sheet of plastic material, such as cellulose acetate. This plastic is colored, usually a dark green, so as to filter out the glare producing elements of the sun's rays. However, caps that have a glare proof visor are typically not used when there is no glare from the sun. Also, the exposed, thin plastic visor detracts from the overall appearance of the cap, and imparts a somewhat unprepossessing appearance to the same. Finally, the thin plastic visor has little resistance to bending, creasing, or tearing, and within a short time the cap may have a somewhat bedraggled appearance.
[0009] Another type of camouflaged head covering is a knit pullover that covers the head, face, and neck, except for eye holes. While they do provide good visibility regardless of head position, pullovers tend to be uncomfortable when worn for any extended period of time.
[0010] Knit caps that cover part of the head of a wearer are well known and are widely used for protection from the cold. These caps are often worn with the lower portions rolled up over the ears of the wearer, leaving the face and neck exposed. An example of another pullover-type head covering is provided in U.S. Pat. No. 4,941,211 This patent illustrates a cold weather hood for hunters (i.e., is colored with camouflage patterns, hunter blaze orange, etc.) that is designed for use in cold weather. The cold weather hood includes a knit hood member that covers the wearer's head and neck, and contains a face opening in which a face mask is sewn. The face mask is made of double-sided brushed polyester fabric, such as DACRON, for warmth and comfort.
[0011] U.S. Pat. Nos. 1,235,927, 3,717,882, and 3,740,767 disclose head garments or coverings that include a hood portion that descends over the neck of a wearer, and a face mask portion that covers part of the face of the wearer. One type of head covering designed to cover more of a wearer's head than a knit cap is a knit pullover that covers the head, face, and neck of a wearer, except for eye, and possibly nose and mouth openings.
[0012] In addition to protection from the elements, pullover type head coverings are often donned by hunters for concealment from game. An example of such a hood is provided in U.S. Pat. No. 5,446,622. This patent illustrates a hunting hood that includes a nylon net face cover for both concealment from game and protection from insects.
[0013] Pullover type head coverings can be uncomfortable or somewhat confining when worn for extended periods of time. Pullovers also do not readily permit the use of the face covering of the garment unless the hood portion is also worn over the head and neck. For example, mild environmental conditions or comfort may make removal of the hood from at least part of the head desirable. However, a hunter cannot use the face mask unless the hood is completely over the head. This is disadvantageous when a wearer wishes to conceal his face but not his neck and head.
[0014] U.S. Pat. No. 1,783,549, to Solomon, discloses a hat that has a brim and crown constructed of canvas or other light fabric material, and an eye shade made of transparent material in the brim. The front part of the brim, from the lower edge of the crown to the binding, is cut out in order to provide a crescent opening form wherein a sheet of CELLULOID, or other transparent material, preferably of a dark color, is installed.
[0015] U.S. Pat. No. 2,416,062, to Mercer, discloses a hat with a brim made of either plastic, or any other material that has the required strength, such as fabric, pulp, or a similar material. Portions of the brim can be reduced in weight by forming large holes therein of any desired form or arrangement. The brim has a removable, washable cover made of a light fabric. The lower portion of the cover is held securely to the flange by an elastic material. This elastic is seated in the marginal portion of the cover, and serves to press against the concave surface of the flange.
[0016] U.S. Pat. No. 3,128,474, to Feldman, discloses a glare proof cap that includes a visor with a sheet of colored plastic material to filter the glare producing rays. This is coupled with a fabric covering that improves the aesthetic quality of the invention without compromising versatility.
[0017] The visor with a transparent portion, disclosed by the Solomon patent, would not provide the cover/visibility provided by the invention. The Mercer patent would only be partially effective in providing ample visibility, and only if sufficient holes are provided in the front portion. Although each of the references pertain to hats, none of the references are designed to be used in a specialized field, such as hunting, with its unique problems of remaining hidden from view. Each of the prior art transparent visors, being fabricated from glare proof material, do not provide the visibility required to see through the material, and, in addition, may reflect part of the light back above the wearer and be seen by the quarry.
[0018] The inventions heretofore known suffer from a number of disadvantages. There does not exist a method, system, or apparatus that is designed to provide the user with a wearable hunting hat cover that eliminates the need for two hats, and functions as a orange or lime green color hat, allows the user to move effortlessly through the game territory with ease, attract game to the user, and not interfere with the user's movement during operation of any equipment.
[0019] There is a need for a method, system, or apparatus that is designed to: provide the user with a wearable hat that may easily stuck into his pocket without any need to carry another hat for hunting game, allow the user to move effortlessly through the game territory with little resistance, attract selected game to the user, and not interfere with the user's movement during operation of any equipment. The present invention is designed to eliminate the above said defects of the prior art.

[0038] The hat covering, according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, comprises of--hat cover that covers a camp hat. The hat cover should of a light material as polypropylene, so that it will stretch to conform to the wearer's head.
[0039] The hat covering, according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, comprises of camouflage, orange or lime green colors hat that easily fits in pocket and can be worn during hunting. The invention eliminates the need to use two caps at one time, as it can be used as an orange, camouflage or lime green colors cover, which can be worn on any other cap.
[0040] In one embodiment of the invention, self-adhesive elastics that attach to a substrate that has retractable supports, such as a pattern of pins, is provided. The retractable supports are placed in contact or looped with the self-adhering elastic, and the substrate bearing the elastic in contact with the supports is brought into contact with a web to which the elastic is to be transferred. The series of supports in contact with the elastic are forced to retract as the self-adhering elastic is pressed against a web; causing the elastic to transfer to the web, thereby creating an elasticized band on the web.
[0041] The invention is a hunting hat to cover a camo hat so the hunter can be seen while moving in the woods detectable by everyone that is a law in most states is to were an orange, green lime or camouflage color hat while moving.
[0042] In another embodiment, the invention provides an improved hunter's head wear that is constructed of an orange, green lime or camouflage color. This hat covering permits a full range of head movements for 180 degree without loss of visibility. Further, the invention provides a head covering that is comfortable to wear for extended periods, and permits the use of game calls. The current invention provides a hunting hat that is disposable, and easy to fold and carry in one's pocket.
