Abstract:
An insulator for a Mason jar that includes: a top; a main portion, where
the top removably seals the main portion; and an opening within the main
portion, where the opening receives the Mason jar. The top may cover a
twist off lid of the Mason jar or alternatively simply cover the opening
where the opening receives the entire Mason jar. Preferably, the
insulator is made of a material that diminishes heat transfer such as
foam rubber or Styrofoam.Claims:
1. An insulator for a Mason jar comprising: a. a top; b. a main portion,
where the top removably seals the main portion; and c. an opening within
the main portion, where the opening receives the Mason jar.
2. The insulator according to claim 1, where the top covers a twist off lid of the Mason jar.
3. The insulator according to claim 1, where the opening receives the entire Mason jar.
4. The insulator according to claim 2, where the opening receives a portion of the Mason jar.
5. The insulator according to claim 1, where the insulator is made of a material that diminishes heat transfer.
6. The insulator according to claim 6, where the material includes foam rubber.
7. The insulator according to claim 6, where the material includes Styrofoam.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present intervention relates to a container that insulates a traditional Mason jar.
[0003] 2. Description of Related Art
[0004] Mason jars are a common container used to store various beverages for consumption. Various types of beverages may be stored in Mason jars for later consumption and many individuals enjoy using the Mason jar due to the glass and the reusability of the container. Further the traditional Mason jar provides a very effective seal of the jar with the twist-on top. One drawback to the traditional Mason jar is the heat transfer that occurs through the glass. If an individual desires to keep the beverage either in a hot or a cool condition this may be challenging with the Mason jar. Heat transferred through the glass is readily available and as a consequence a cool beverage may build condensation along the outside of the jar. Further this condensation causes the jar to become slippery during use. Therefore it would be advantages to have a device that could be used to store and insulate a Mason jar to prevent rapid heat transfer.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The present invention relates to an insulator for a Mason jar that includes: a top; a main portion, where the top removably seals the main portion; and an opening within the main portion, where the opening receives the Mason jar. The top may cover a twist off lid of the Mason jar or alternatively simply cover the opening where the opening receives the entire Mason jar. Preferably, the insulator is made of a material that diminishes heat transfer such as foam rubber or Styrofoam.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0007] The present invention relates to a jar insulator specifically designed for use with the traditional Mason jar. The jar insulator according to the present invention completely encloses a Mason jar within an opening and provides a lid that closes the jar insulator. The present invention therefore prevents or reduces the heat transfer that occurs due to environmental conditions.
[0008] In reference to FIG. 1, a jar insulator 100 in accordance with the present intervention is depicted. The jar insulator 100 includes a top 25 that is easily removed from a main portion 20 of the container 100. The main portion 20 of the jar insulator 100 is cylindrical and has an opening within the jar insulator 100 to receive a Mason jar 30. As shown in FIG. 1, the Mason jar 30 is placed within the opening in the main portion 20 of the jar insulator 100. Placing the top 25 onto the main portion 20 encloses the Mason jar 30.
[0009] Preferably the jar insulator may be made from rubber foam, Styrofoam or other types of heat transfer-limiting materials. Further once inside the beverage insulator the Mason jar will not accumulate condensation or other moisture on the surface that would inhibit the use of the Mason jar by the user. The beverage insulator insulates the Mason jar and is designed to keep the beverage inside the Mason jar at an optimum temperature for consumption. In one particular embodiment the insulator is about 9 inches in height and 4 inches in diameter. Further the insulator is padded therefore avoiding or reducing damage if the Mason jar is dropped. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
