CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
[0001] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/068,026 filed on Oct. 24, 2014. The above identified patent application is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety to provide continuity of disclosure.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to furniture covers. More specifically, the present invention provides a cover for the armrest of a chair comprising an elongated body adapted to be positioned along the armrest of a lawn chair or similar chair, wherein the elongated body includes straps thereon that can be removably secured around the armrest. The elongated body comprises a heat cover removably securable to the body so that the body does not become excessively warm when exposed to direct sunlight, so as to allow the user to comfortably utilize the chair.
[0003] People enjoy laying or sitting outside in a lawn chair or other similar chair in order to spend time outdoors or to tan. However, the chair can become hot due to exposure to sunlight throughout the day. This is particularly true of chairs having a metal frame, wherein the frame of the chair and the armrests thereof become extremely hot. Further, the cushions on the chair may absorb and hold heat so that the cushions are also hot. As a result, the chair may be uncomfortable to sit on if it is too hot, further the user may burn himself or herself if he or she touches the hot metal frame of the chair.
[0004] People may place various cushions and covers on outdoor chairs in order to provide comfort to the person sitting on the chair and to cover the metal frame of the chair. However, the cushions themselves tend to become warm and hold the heat so that the cushions may also become hot and uncomfortable. Thus, an armrest cover for a chair that is adapted to remain cool or at a comfortable temperature while outdoors is desired.
[0005] Devices have been disclosed in the prior art that relate to cushions for armrests and the like. These include devices that have been patented and published in patent application publications. These devices generally relate to cushions or pads for covering an armrest, crib slat, or other similar surface, such as U.S. Pat. No. 5,549,354, U.S. Pat. No. 6,604,789, U.S. Pat. No. 6,742,751, U.S. Published Patent Application Number 2002/0063453, and U.S. Pat. No. 7,261,374.
[0006] These prior art devices have several known drawbacks. The devices in the prior art provide cushions or pads for armrests but fail to provide an armrest cover having a removably heat cover adapted to prevent the body of the armrest cover from becoming warm or hot, wherein the user can remove the heat cover for use.
[0007] In light of the devices disclosed in the prior art, it is submitted that the present invention substantially diverges in design elements from the prior art and consequently it is clear that there is a need in the art for an improvement to existing armrest cover devices.
