Patent application title: Bromop

Inventors:  Corey James Stewart (Langley, CA)
IPC8 Class: AA47L1312FI
USPC Class: 15115
Class name: Combined brush and wiper mop
Publication date: 2016-02-18
Patent application number: 20160045093

Abstract:

The invention relates to a manually operable floor cleaning tool. I have found the most effective way to clean floors is by hand with a wet cloth. The unique design of the Bromop enables a wet cloth to be used effectively without the user having to bend or kneel to do so. Additionally, previous similar inventions such as the Swiffer are improved by incorporating a broom head and dustpan into the design, and using re-useable cleaning cloths instead of disposable cleaning wipes. Water consumption is a concern for many people throughout the world and the Bromop requires on average 95% less water to clean the same amount of square footage compared with sponge mops. Laminate flooring is prone to warping when it gets wet and the Bromop eliminates that issue by leaving minimal water on the cleaned surface after cleaning, which in turn lowers the required dry time.

Claims:

1. a manually operable floor cleaning tool in which a broom head and a mop base are attached together with a hinged broomstick apparatus.

2. a manually operable floor cleaning tool, as described above, in which the hinged broom stick can lock into position for utilization as a broom, or unlock for use as a mop.

3. a tool as described above in which the hinge and lock apparatus are covered with a custom fit dustpan.

4. a tool as described above that uses hook and loop fasteners on the base of the mop to attach the custom cleaning pads to the mop base.

5. a tool as described above in which the top side of the mop base has barbs to attach common household cloths instead of the included custom cleaning pads.

Description:

[0001] Broom head (FIG. 1) is secured to Mop base (FIG. 2) with custom connector (FIG. 6)

[0002] Hinge apparatus (FIG. 3), connects with broom stick (FIG. 7)

[0003] Lock (FIG. 4) secures tool in broom position, or unlocks for use as a mop.

[0004] Dustpan (FIG. 5) covers hinge and lock apparatus when in locked position.
