Abstract:
A bullet or projectile having two or more separate pieces that are fit
together in order to complete the projectile. The projectile pieces can
be formed, cast, machined or molded in any material capable of being
formed, cast, machined or molded. The completed multi piece projectile
can produce different expansion characteristics based on the different
angles and material properties of the components.Claims:
1. A bullet or projectile that is composed of two or more separate parts
that mate together to create a bullet with the desired expansion rate and
expansion amount.
2. The bullet consists of two or more components consisting of similar or different materials as well as similar or different internal and external angles in order to produce the desired impact characteristics.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention relates to bullets or projectiles, more specifically bullets with multiple components that fit together in order to complete the bullet. This allows each component to be designed independently and then pieced together to create the most desired characteristics of penetration and expansion. Conventional bullet designs consist of one piece that is formed, cast, machined or molded. Some bullets contain hollow tips in order to help expand the bullet while penetrating the target and some bullets consist of an elastomer or plastic that is molded into the tip in order to help expend the bullet while penetrating the target. The conventional methods of making a bullet do not consist of two or more pieces that mate together, allowing for independently designed parts for increased expansion rate and expansion amount.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The present invention is a unique bullet or projectile design that utilizes different components that are mated together to make a single bullet. This is important because it will allow the bullet to expand at a greater rate and to control the time and amount of bullet expansion. This optimization will increase the chances of hitting vital organs and stopping your target.
[0006] The multiple bullet components can be made of the same or various materials depending on the desired characteristics of the bullet upon impact. For example when the nose of the bullet makes contact with a solid target, the harder the nose and the greater the surface area of the nose, the more energy will be transferred to the main body of the bullet and begin to expand the body of the bullet on contact. In this fashion, the desired bullet characteristics can be created by varying the multiple bullet components.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0021] The separate pieces that comprise the bullet may vary in material, internal and external angles depending on the desired characteristics one wants to achieve. For example, a two part bullet with the nose of the bullet containing a internal angle of 55 degrees will deliver a different force and expend the body of the bullet at a different amount then a bullet nose containing a internal angle of 35 degrees. Another example may be in the design of a bullet with a blunt nose. In this example the blunt nose can vary in surface area and effect the amount of penetration before the bullet starts to expand. In another instance the bore depth will also play a role in determining the expansion of the bullet and the rate at which it expands. The multi piece bullet could be assembled using a friction or mechanical fit, adhesive or a combination of methods. The fit of the bullet must be durable enough to remain intact until the bullet makes contact with its target, but not too strong as to hinder the performance of the bullet. The type of fit used between bullet pieces will vary with the materials being used in the bullet.
