DESCRIPTION
[0004] 1. Field of the Invention
[0005] This invention relates to the provision of breast support to the wearer while performing athletic activities by means of a strapless sports brassiere. The invention itself comprises an outer layer of stretchable fabric, an inner layer of stretchable fabric, two foam breast cups between the two layers that are appropriately positioned to support the wearer's breasts, an upper elastic Band and a lower elastic band. The outer layer encompasses the entire torso of the wearer, is comprised of stretchable fabric which is designed to be form fitting, and has an upper elastic band and lower elastic band that assists in maintaining the location of the strapless sports brassiere on the torso of the wearer. The inner layer is also comprised of stretchable fabric and can be affixed to the inner part of the outer layer. In one embodiment, the inner layer only covers the front portion of the outer layer. In a second embodiment, the inner layer encompasses the entire torso of the wearer and is affixed to the inner portion of the outer layer of the strapless sports brassier. The two molded form cups are positioned between the outer layer and inner layer of the strapless sports brassiere in the location of the wearer's breasts and said foam cups can be of various sizes to accommodate the different shapes of the potential wearers.
[0006] 2. Background of the Invention
[0007] Prior art sports brassieres were developed to support a woman's breasts while performing athletic activities, are made from stretchable fabric and include at least one strap that extends from the breast cup, over the wearer's shoulder, and connects to the back area of the brassiere. When the wearer of prior art is in the sun for extended periods of time, she develops tan lines. In addition, the shoulder straps of some athletic brassieres rub the shoulder blades of the wearer, causing chafing and can cause discomfort while exercising. The present disclosure is designed to eliminate tan lines on the wearer who does sports activities outdoors while still providing the wearer with breast support. The strapless sports brassiere supports the wearer's breasts with the use of stretchable fabric, moldable foam cups and elastic bands at the strapless sports brassiere's upper and lower edges.
[0008] In U.S. Pat. No. 6,863,589, Cano discloses a tube brassiere with breast cups knitted therein whereas the present disclosure includes a tube brassiere with two layers attached together and foam breast cups located between the two layers, appropriately positioned to support the wearer's breasts.
[0009] In U.S. Patent D655,069, Lopez, et al., discloses a design for a strapless brassiere, whereas the present disclosure is a strapless brassiere with two layers and foam breast cups located between the layers, which is further designed to supply support to the wearer during sports activities.
[0010] In U.S. Pat. No. 7,179,150, Luk, et al., discloses strapless brassiere having two layers of molded foam cups, whereas the present disclosure has two layers of stretchable fabric with foam breast cups, where the two layers include an upper and lower band designed to assist in holding the breast cups and within them the wearer's breasts in position and to supply the wearer with breast support while the wearer is performing sports activities.
[0011] In U.S. Provisional Patent Application 61/958,992, White discloses a strapless sports brassiere which is claimed here.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0012] The present disclosure reveals a strapless sports brassiere that comprises an outer layer of stretchable fabric, an inner layer of stretchable fabric, two foam breast cups, an elastic band along the upper edge of the strapless sports brassiere, and an elastic band along the lower edge of the strapless sports brassiere.
[0013] The foam breast cups are positioned between the outer layer and the inner layer in the area of the wearer's breasts. The inner layer can encompass the wearer's entire torso or just cover the front portion of the strapless sports brassiere in the area of the wearer's breasts such that the inner layer ensures the foam cups remain properly located.
[0014] The first preferred embodiment of the disclosure is a strapless sports brassiere in the shape of a tube top, with an outer layer of stretchable fabric, an inner layer of stretchable fabric, an elastic band along the upper and lower edges of the tube shape to tightly hold the strapless sports brassiere in place, and molded foam cups located between the outer layer and inner layer, positioned so as to hold the wearer's breasts while wearing. Said foam cups supply additional breast support.
[0015] A second preferred embodiment of the disclosure is a strapless sports brassiere in the shape of a tube top where the outer layer extends down to cover the midsection of the wearer where the upper portion includes an outer layer of stretchable fabric, an inner layer of stretchable fabric, an elastic band along the upper and lower edges of the tube shape to tightly hold the strapless sports brassiere in place, and molded foam cups located between the outer layer and inner layer, positioned so as to hold the wearer's breasts while wearing. Below the elastic band along the lower edge, a single layer of fabric extends to cover the midsection of the wearer.
[0016] Either of the preferred embodiments can include attachable straps to provide the wearer with additional support when desired.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING
[0017] FIG. 1 is a frontal view of the strapless sports brassiere in the form of a tube top. The strapless sports brassiere has an elastic band across the top, molded foam cups in the breast area of the wearer and another elastic band along the bottom;
[0018] FIG. 2 is a view of the back of the strapless sports brassiere including the elastic band across the top and bottom portions;
[0019] FIG. 3 is a frontal view of the strapless sports brassiere, including the extended length of the outer layer, which covers the wearer's midsection; and
[0020] FIG. 4 is a view of the interior of the strapless sports brassiere.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0021] A strapless sports brassiere in the shape of a tube top 1 comprising an outer layer of stretchable fabric 2, an inner layer of stretchable fabric 3, an elastic band along the top edge of the tube top 4, an elastic band along the bottom edge of the tube top 5, a left formed cup 6 in the area of the wearer's left breast, and a right formed cup 7 in the area of the wearer's right breast. The outer layer may cover the wearer's chest region 8, or the wearer's chest area and midsection 9. Straps may also be added to provide additional support.
