Abstract

The Good Samaritan a self-contained storage device attachable to existing cell phone or factory built into specific cell phone that assists in providing basic emergency aid. Device contains separate compartments, each providing step by step instructions on administering medical aid. Compartment one stores a disposable plastic mouth guard used for administering CPR. CPR instructions based on American Heart Association guidelines. Compartment two stores standard aspirin used when person shows signs of stroke or heart attack. Compartment three stores standard glucose used when person shows signs of low glucose levels. Compartment four is a free compartment used to store personal medications of phone owner Compartment five stores epinephrine pen used when person shows signs of allergic reaction that compromises airway. All compartments are one time use only and are easily replaced after use. Device helps provides basic medical aid at first onset of symptoms allowing first aid to begin immediately.

Description

[0001] The concept behind the Good Samaritan is to have potentially lifesaving equipment when faced with an emergency medical situation right at your fingertips.

[0002] In an emergency you are already using your cell phone to dial 911. After dialing, you turn your phone over and activate the Good Samaritan to start lifesaving medical aid. The device can either be attached to the back of the cell phone or be factory built into the cell phone that when activated will provide step by step instructions to provide basic emergency medical aid covering anything from heart attach to an allergic reaction with waiting for emergency response teams to arrive.

The device comes with five compartments:

[0003] Compartment one stores a lightweight, disposable plastic mouth guard to be used for CPR on an unresponsive person. When activated the device will provide verbal step by step instructions on performing CPR based on the American Heart Association guidelines

[0004] Compartment two stores standard aspirin to be used for when a person is showing signs of a suspected stroke or heart attack. When activated the device will provide verbal step by step instructions on how to administer.

[0005] Compartment three stores standard glucose packets to be used for when a person shows signs of low glucose levels. When activated the device will provide verbal step by step instructions on how to administer.

[0006] Compartment four is a free compartment to be used to store any personal medications or vitamins of the phone owner which is available with a programmable reminder alarm

[0007] Compartment five stores an epinephrine pen to be used for when a person shows signs of an allergic reaction that compromises the airway. When activated the device will provide verbal step by step instructions on how to administer.

[0008] All medical aides in the compartments are for a one time use only and can be easily replaced when used. This device is intended to provide basic emergency medical aid at the first onset of symptoms while waiting for emergency response teams to arrive. The digital instructions being available when compartments are activated alleviate the need for second guessing when faced with a medical emergency.
