Abstract:

A magnetic pad for assisting technicians, comprising, a labeled layer mechanically coupled to a magnetic layer.

Claims:

1. A magnetic pad for assisting technicians, comprising a labeled layer mechanically coupled to a magnetic layer, wherein the labeled layer includes at least one cavity lined with the magnetic layer.

2. The magnetic pad for assisting technicians of claim 1, wherein the labeled layer further comprises a bumper area, a general label area and general logo area.

3. The magnetic pad for assisting technicians of claim 1, wherein: the labeled layer further comprises a bumper area, a general label area and general logo area, and the labeled layer is made of vinyl.

4. The magnetic pad for assisting technicians of claim 1, wherein: the labeled layer further comprises a bumper area, a general label area and general logo area, the labeled layer is made of vinyl, and the vinyl is a thicker vinyl.

5. The magnetic pad for assisting technicians of claim 1, wherein: the labeled layer further comprises a bumper area, a general label area and general logo area, the labeled layer is made of vinyl, and the magnetic layer further comprises a grip back.

6. A pad assembly, comprising: a top layer including cavities disposed in a plurality of locations along the top layer; and a magnetic backing layer attached to the top layer, wherein portions of the magnetic backing layer are exposed by the cavities in the top layer.

7. The pad assembly of claim 6, further comprising walls of the top layer defined by the cavities, wherein the walls extend from the magnetic backing layer.

8. The magnetic pad of claim 1, wherein the label layer further comprises at least one cavity label.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] This invention relates to electrical equipment accessories.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] Disassembling and reassembling a piece of electrical equipment can be a daunting task. Technology is presently evolving in order to enable electrical equipment technicians to disassemble and reassemble desktop computers, laptop computers, cellular phones and similar devices while keeping track of each component and fastener removed. Prior art shows devices that can accommodate a single piece of electrical equipment, but the disclosed invention describes how to make a magnetic pad to assist technicians working on any equipment.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] A magnetic pad for assisting technicians, comprising, a labeled layer mechanically coupled to a magnetic layer.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

[0005] Having thus described the invention in general terms, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings, which are not necessarily drawn to scale, and wherein:

[0006] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the invention shown in use.

[0007] FIG. 2 is a top view of the invention.

[0008] FIG. 3 is a section view of the invention along line 3-3 in FIG. 2. illustrated with an exemplary metal fastener.

[0009] FIG. 4 is a section detail view of an alternate embodiment of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0010] Embodiments of the present invention overcome many of the obstacles associated with disassembling and reassembling electronic devices, and now will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings that show some, but not all embodiments of the claimed inventions. Indeed, the invention may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will satisfy applicable legal requirements. Like numbers refer to like elements throughout.

[0011] FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 show the invention in use. Pad assembly 10 comprises bumper area 18, general label area 20, general logo area 24 and magnet cavity label area 14. Pad assembly 10 further comprises magnetic cavity 12, which further comprises magnetic layer 30 and can hold fastener 28 in a fixed location.

[0012] FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 show section view of pad assembly 10. Pad assembly 10 comprises a magnetic layer mechanically coupled to a general logo area. Magnetic cavity 12 can hold a metal fastener in place. FIG. 4 shows an alternate embodiment of the invention that has eight deeper magnetic cavity.

[0013] To make one embodiment of the invention. A user would need to design a layout for bumper area 18, general label area 20, general logo area 24 collectively known as a labeled layer. This layout can orient a user to the steps needed to disassemble a particular electronic device or can be generic such that any device can be used. For example, a plotter can print a design on vinyl as needed which is then cut to a user's preference. After that, shapes can be cut from the vinyl which is then mechanically coupled to magnetic layer 30.

[0014] Additionally, a grip back would be helpful to keep the pad from sliding on smooth surfaces. A thicker vinyl may help divide the sections better by creating a higher surface from the magnetic exposed as shown in the alternate embodiment in FIG. 4. An anti-static case or flimsy hard case would be a great accessory to protect the pad from other tools or parts carried in a technician's bag.
