Description:

BACKGROUND

[0001] 1. Technical Field

[0002] The present disclosure relates to a slide assembly for preventing an outer slide from falling off.

[0003] 2. Description of Related Art

[0004] Three-section slides for server units include an inner slide, an outer slide, and a third slide. A slide-aiding ball member is sandwiched between any two of the inner slide, the outer slide, and the third slide to enable a smooth sliding movement. Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the outer slide 600 has a fastening member 601, a handle member 700 and a restriction member 800 mounted thereon. The restriction member 800 is restricted in a rack 900 by the handle member 700. The fastening member 601 is accommodated in a locating hole 901 in the rack 900 to mount the outer slide 600 on the rack 900. When the handle member 700 is pressed to move towards the restriction member 800, the restriction member 800 is not restricted in the rack 900. The fastening member 601 is moved out of the locating hole 901 to release the outer slide 600 from the rack 900.

[0005] However, a user needs to extend a hand into an inner side of the rack 900 to operate the handle member 700 and the outer slide 600 can accidentally fall off from the rack 900. Therefore, it may be inconvenient and dangerous for users to operate the slide.

[0006] Therefore there is a need for improvement in the art.

[0017] The locking member 100 includes a first locking slice 110, a second locking slice 120, an elastic member 130, and a protection member 140. Two first latching hooks 111 are located on a first distal end of the first locking slice 110 and a second distal end of the first locking slice 110. Each of the first latching hooks 111 includes a first connection portion 1111 extending horizontally from the first locking slice 110 and a first abutting portion 1112 extending from the first connection portion 1111 in a first direction. A first pressing portion 112 extends horizontally from the first distal end of the first locking slice 110. A first connecting hook 113 is located on the second distal end of the first locking slice 110. The first connecting hook 113 includes a second connection portion 1131 extending from the first locking slice 110 and a first blocking portion 1132 extending from the second connection portion 1131 in a second direction. A first abutting block 114 is located on the first locking slice 110 between the two first latching hooks 111.

[0018] Two second latching hooks 121 are located on a first distal end of the second locking slice 120 and a second distal end of the second locking slice 120. Each of the second latching hooks 121 includes a third connection portion 1211 extending horizontally from the second locking slice 120 and a second abutting portion 1212 extending from the third connection portion 1211 in the second direction. A second pressing portion 122 extends horizontally from the first distal end of the second locking slice 120. A second connecting hook 123 is located on the second distal end of the second locking slice 120. The second connecting hook 123 includes a fourth connection portion 1231 extending from the second locking slice 120 and a second blocking portion 1232 extending from the fourth connection portion 1231 in the first direction. A second abutting block 124 is located on the second locking slice 120 between the two second latching hooks 121.

[0019] Two first sliding slots 302 are defined in the outer slide 300 corresponding to the two first latching hooks 111. Two second sliding slots 303 are defined in the outer slide 300 corresponding to the two second latching hooks 121. A plurality of locating holes 201 are defined in the rack 200 corresponding to the two first latching hooks 111 and the two second latching hooks 121. The protection member 140 includes a base plate 141 and a protrusion portion 142 extending from the base plate 141. The base plate 141 and the protrusion portion 142 cooperatively define an accommodating space therebetween. In one embodiment, the elastic member 130 is a tension spring. The first direction is a direction from down to up, the second direction is a direction from up to down.

[0020] Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, in assembly, the fastening member 301 on the outer slide 300 passes through the corresponding locating hole 201 of the rack 200. To align the two first sliding slots 302 and the two second sliding slots 303 of the outer slide 300 with the corresponding locating holes 201 of the rack 200. The two first connection portions 1111 of the two first latching hooks 111 pass through the two first sliding slots 302 of the outer slide 300. The two third connection portions 1211 of the two second latching hooks 121 pass through the two second sliding slots 303 of the outer slide 300. The two first abutting portions 1112 of the two first latching hooks 111 abut top edges of the corresponding locating holes 201. The two second abutting portions 1212 of the two second latching hooks 121 abut bottom edges of the corresponding locating holes 201. The second abutting block 124 abuts the outer slide 300. The first abutting block 114 abuts the second abutting block 124.

[0021] A first distal end of the elastic member 130 is mounted on the second connection portion 1131 of the first connecting hook 113. A second distal end of the elastic member 130 is mounted on the fourth connection portion 1231 of the second connecting hook 123. A first distal end of the elastic member 130 abuts the first blocking portion 1132 of the first connecting hook 113. A second distal end of the elastic member 130 abuts the second blocking portion 1232 of the second connecting hook 123. The elastic member 130 is in an original state. The protection member 140 covers the first locking slice 110, the second locking slice 120, and the elastic member 130. The base plate 141 is mounted on the rack 200. The elastic member 130 is accommodated in the accommodating space between the base plate 141 and the protrusion portion 142. The first pressing portion 112 of the first locking slice 110 and the second pressing portion 122 of the second locking slice 120 extend out from the accommodating space. In one embodiment, the base plate 141 is mounted on the rack 200 by hot melting, riveting, or fasteners.

[0022] In disassembly, the first pressing portion 112 of the first locking slice 110 is pressed to move in the second direction. The second pressing portion 122 of the second locking slice 120 is pressed to move in the first direction. The elastic member 130 elastically stretches until the two first abutting portions 1112 of the two first latching hooks 111 does not abut the top edges of the corresponding locating holes 201. The two second abutting portions 1212 of the two second latching hooks 121 does not abut the bottom edges of the corresponding locating holes 201. The two first latching hooks 111 of the first locking slice 110 are moved out from the two first sliding slots 302 of the outer slide 300. The two second latching hooks 121 of the second locking slice 110 are moved out from the two second sliding slots 303 of the outer slide 300. The outer slide 300 is released from the rack 200.

[0023] Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present disclosure have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the disclosure, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in the matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
