Abstract:

The present invention is a building deck kit utilized by do-it-yourself persons, contractors, lumberyards, mobile home owners, homeowners and handicapped service providers that includes pieces of pre-cut and pressure treated lumber including two end pieces of lumber and a plurality of pre-cut and pressure treated joist hangers used to attach the pieces of lumber to the end pieces of lumber. The kit also includes a plurality of screws and nails utilized to attach the lumber and the joist hangers together to form an overall deck and one or more pre-cut and pressure treated or metal wind braces to provide support to the lumber and the overall deck,

Claims:

1. A building deck kit, comprising: a plurality of lumber pieces including two end pieces; a plurality of joist hangers used to attach said pieces of lumber to said end pieces of lumber; a plurality of screws utilized to attach said lumber and sad joist hangers together to form an overall deck; a plurality of nails utilized to further attach said lumber and said joist hangers together to additionally form said overall deck; and one or more wind braces to provide support to sad lumber and said overall deck.

2. The kit according to dam 1, wherein said lumber is pre-cut.

3. The kit according to claim 2, wherein said lumber is pressure treated.

4. The kit according to claim 1, wherein said end pieces are pre-cut.

5. The kit according to claim 4, wherein said end pieces are pressure treated.

6. The kit according to claim 1, wherein said joist hangers are made of metal,

7. The kit according to claim 1, wherein said wind braces are pre-cut.

8. The kit according to claim 7, wherein said wind braces are pressure treated or metal.

9. The kit according to claim 1, wherein said kit is utilized by do-it-yourself persons, contractors, lumberyards, mobile home owners, homeowners and handicapped service providers.

10. A building deck kit, comprising: a plurality of pre-cut and pressure treated pieces of lumber including two end pieces; a plurality of precut and pressure treated joist hangers used to attach said pieces of lumber to said end pieces of lumber; a plurality of screws utilized to attach said lumber and said joist hangers together to form an overall deck; a plurality of nails utilized to further attach said lumber and said joist hangers together to additionally form said overall deck; and one or more pre-cut and pressure treated or metal wind braces to provide support to said lumber and said overall deck.

11. The kit according to claim 10, wherein said joist hangers are made of metal.

12. The kit according to claim 10, wherein said screws are approximately 3 inches long.

13. The kit according to claim 10, wherein said nails are approximately 3 inches long.

14. The kit according to claim 10, wherein said wind braces are approximately 8 feet long.

15. The kit according to claim 10, wherein said kit is utilized by do-it-yourself persons, contractors, lumberyards, mobile home owners, homeowners and handicapped service providers.

16. A building deck kit utilized by do-it-yourself persons, contractors, lumberyards, mobile home owners, homeowners and handicapped service providers, comprising: a plurality of pre-cut and pressure treated lumber pieces including two end pieces of lumber; a plurality of precut and pressure treated joist hangers used to attach said pieces of lumber to said end pieces of lumber; a plurality of screws utilized to attach said lumber and said joist hangers together to form an overall deck approximately 4'×4', 4'×6', 4'×8', 4'×10', 4'×12', 4'×14' or 4'×6'; a plurality of nails utilized to further attach said lumber and said joist hangers together to additionally form said overall deck; and one or more pre-cut and pressure treated or metal wind braces to provide support to said lumber and said overall deck.

17. The kit according to claim 16, wherein said joist hangers are made of metal.

18. The kit according to claim 16, wherein said screws are approximately 3 inches long.

19. The kit according to claim 16, wherein said nails are approximately 3 inches long.

20. The kit according to claim 16, wherein sad wind braces are approximately 8 feet long.

Description:

TECHNICAL FIELD & BACKGROUND

[0001] Currently there are limited options for affordable deck installations. Homeowners, often commit to investing in expensive construction fees in order to remodel their recreation area due to complicated pieces of lumber pricing and quantity access.

[0002] The present invention generally relates to a kit. More specifically, the invention is a building deck kit.

[0003] It is an object of the invention to provide a building deck kit that is a simplified alternative to outdoor construction of a building deck.

[0004] It is an object of the invention to provide a building deck kit that can conserve time and monetary investments.

[0005] It is an object of the invention to provide a building deck kit that utilizes pre-assembled pieces of lumber for deck construction.

[0006] What is really needed is a building deck kit that is a simplified alternative to outdoor construction of a building deck that can conserve time and monetary investments and that utilizes pre-assembled pieces of lumber for deck construction.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

[0010] Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.

[0013] FIG. 1A illustrates an overhead perspective view of a building deck kit 100 and its components, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The building deck kit 100 includes pieces of lumber 110, a plurality of joist hangers 120, a plurality of screws 130, a plurality of nails 140 and one or more wind braces 150 to form an assembled deck 160.

[0014] The pieces of lumber 110 can be any type of suitable pieces of lumber of any dimensions, but is typically pressure treated pieces of lumber ranging from approximately 2''×4'' to 2''×10'' and is pre-cut, although pieces of lumber 110 of other suitable dimensions can be utilized. The joist hangers 120 are utilized to attach to two end pieces of lumber 112, which is also typically pressure treated, to other pieces of lumber 110 and are described in greater detail in FIG. 1B and its description. The screws 130 are utilized to hold the pieces of lumber 110 and joist hangers 120 together to form the overall deck 160 and are typically approximately 3'' long, although the screws 130 can be other suitable lengths. The nails 140 are also utilized to hold the pieces of lumber 110 and joist hangers 120 together to form the assembled deck 160 and are typically approximately 3'' long, although the nails 140 can be other suitable lengths. The wind braces 150, which are typically also pressure treated or metal, are utilized to provide support to the pieces of lumber 110 and the assembled deck 160 and are typically approximately 8' long although the wind braces 150 can be other suitable lengths.

[0015] FIG. 1B illustrates an overhead perspective view of a plurality of joist hangers 120 of a building deck kit 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention. The joist hangers 120 can be made of any type of material but are typically made of metal or other suitable material.

[0016] The building deck kit 100 forms an assembled lumber mat that is used as a building deck 160. The building deck kit 100 is utilized in place of measuring, designing, purchasing, cutting and assembling all of the components of a building deck 160, since the components of the building deck kit 100 are pre-cut and pre-assembled. The building deck kit 100 includes pieces of lumber 110 for approximately 4'×4', 4'×6', 4'×8', 4'×10', 4'×12', 4'×14 ' and 4'×16' building decks 160, although pieces of lumber 110 for other suitable sized building decks 160 can also be utilized. The building decks kit 100 includes approximately 2''×6'' pressure treated pieces of lumber 110, approximately 2''×6'' joist hangers 120, approximately 3'' long screws 130 and nails 140 and an approximate 8' wind brace 150 to keep the deck properly aligned, although other suitable pieces of lumber 110, joist hanger 120, screw 130, nail 140 and wind brace 150 dimensions can be utilized. The building deck kit 100 is designed for do-it-yourself persons, contractors, pieces of lumberyards, mobile home owners, homeowners and handicapped service providers with pre-cut components to provide expeditious outdoor flooring installation.

[0017] While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.
