PIECE OF FURNITURE HAVING AT LEAST ONE SLIDING DOOR

Abstract

A piece of furniture having at least one sliding door (12), wherein the at least one sliding door (12) is arranged in a displaceable manner with respect to the piece of furniture (10). The piece of furniture (10) has at least one pocket (11) for accommodating the at least one sliding door (12). The at least one sliding door (12) is mounted in a displaceable manner preferably exclusively on the piece of furniture (10). The at least one sliding door (12) is arranged so as to be movable at least partly out of the pocket (11).

Description

STATEMENT OF RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This application claims the benefit of and priority on German Patent Application No. 10 2011 016 165.1 having a filing date of 6 Apr. 2011.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The invention relates to a piece of furniture having at least one sliding door which is arranged in a displaceable manner with respect to the piece of furniture.

[0004] 2. Prior Art

[0005] A large variety of pieces of furniture having one or more sliding doors, for example in the manner of a cabinet, are known from practice. As a rule, the or each sliding door of such a piece of furniture is arranged in the region of a front thereof and is mounted in a laterally displaceable manner. As a result, on account of a corresponding arrangement of the sliding door(s), access to a space in the piece of furniture is possible, or a corresponding opening in the piece of furniture can be closed.

[0006] Also known are what are known as "pocket doors", in which sliding doors can be parked in laterally arranged recesses for example in a wall when the door is open.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] Proceeding herefrom, it is the object of the invention to create a new type of furniture. The furniture should be universally usable, in particular with regard to adaptability to different installation sites.

[0008] In order to achieve this object, a piece of furniture according to the invention has at least one sliding door, wherein the at least one sliding door is arranged in a displaceable manner with respect to the piece of furniture. Accordingly, it is provided that: [0009] a) the piece of furniture has at least one pocket for accommodating at least one sliding door, [0010] b) the at least one sliding door is mounted in a displaceable manner preferably exclusively on the piece of furniture, and preferably in particular the pocket, and [0011] c) the at least one sliding door is arranged so as to be movable at least partly out of the pocket.

[0012] A piece of furniture of this kind is hitherto unknown to the knowledge of the applicant. With the aid of the sliding door(s), a space to the side of the piece of furniture or of the pocket can be concealed. It is for example possible to place the piece of furniture or the pocket in the vicinity of a room corner so that with the aid of the sliding door(s) a part of the room, in particular a room corner, can be concealed or delimited. The piece of furniture or the pocket is universally usable and adaptable to different space requirements on account of the sliding doors, in particular to (room) corners or (room) recesses having different widths.

[0013] In the context of this application, the term "piece of furniture" is understood as representing all kinds of indoor or outdoor installations. In a particular embodiment, it is provided that the piece of furniture consists substantially only of the pocket and one or more sliding doors.

[0015] According to a preferred development, it can be provided that the pocket is dimensioned to accommodate the at least one sliding door which is arranged in a displaceable manner in the region of the pocket. The pocket thus has compact dimensions and is preferably not unnecessarily larger than is necessary for accommodating the at least one sliding door.

[0016] Preferably, it is provided that the at least one sliding door can be moved laterally out of the pocket, wherein the pocket has a corresponding number of openings which are adapted to the arrangement and/or dimensions of the or each sliding door. According to a preferred exemplary embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the pocket is assigned two sliding doors, wherein the pocket is dimensioned to substantially precisely accommodate the sliding doors, and wherein the two sliding doors are arranged in each case on one side so as to be movable laterally out of the pocket through a respective opening in the latter.

[0017] As long as the piece of furniture consists not only substantially of the pocket and one or more sliding doors, it can be provided that the pocket is arranged in the region of a front of the piece of furniture, such that the pocket conceals at least a part of the piece of furniture and wherein the at least one sliding door is arranged so as to be movable laterally out of the pocket so as to conceal a corresponding space to the side of the pocket.

[0018] Structurally, the sliding door can be fastened such that the or each sliding door is mounted in a movable manner via (in each case) a pull-out rail on the pocket or the walls thereof, wherein preferably the pull-out rail has a support part fastened to the pocket or the walls thereof and a running rail guided on the support part, said running rail being coupled to the sliding door such that the sliding door is arranged such that it can be pulled laterally out of the pocket. The pull-out rail can, if desired, also be configured in a telescopic manner.

Furthermore, the piece of furniture can contain a table, in particular a desk, which is arranged such that it can be pulled out laterally from the shelving, wherein the at least one sliding door can be pulled out of the pocket in order to conceal the table pulled out of the shelving.

[0021] A particular development, which may also be a separate invention independently of the pocket or the sliding doors, provides that at least one shelf of the shelving is assigned a holder for items of clothing, in particular a clothes rail, said holder being fixed with respect to the shelf, wherein the shelf is arranged such that it can be pulled laterally out of the shelving, and wherein the at least one sliding door can be pulled out of the pocket in order to conceal the shelf, having the holder, in particular the clothes rail, pulled out of the shelving.

The shelf can be mounted such that it can be pulled laterally out of the shelving in the horizontal direction, in particular by means of guide means arranged on the basic structure of the shelving.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0041] The invention is first of all explained on the basis of a piece of furniture 10 having a pocket 11 for accommodating at least one sliding door 12 according to FIG. 1. This also includes the illustrations according to FIGS. 7 to 12. The piece of furniture 10 shown in FIG. 1 represents the common denominator for the different variants shown and is therefore described first.

[0042] The pocket 11 shown is provided to accommodate the two sliding doors 12. The sliding doors 12 are arranged in a displaceable manner with respect to the pocket 11, specifically in the horizontal direction corresponding to the double arrows 13.

[0043] The pocket 11 is dimensioned such that it is suitable for accommodating the two sliding doors 12. However, it is also conceivable for only one sliding door 12 to be provided, as a result of which the pocket 11 can then have correspondingly smaller dimensions or a smaller depth.

In this way, the or each sliding door 12 is mounted such that it can be moved laterally out of the pocket 11.

[0050] In the present case, the sliding doors 12 are inherently rigid structures having a peripheral frame 22 consisting of individual frame profiles 23 and also a filling 24 that fills in the frame 22. The frame 22 or the frame profiles 23 are produced preferably from an extruded profile made of aluminium or the like. In this way, stable fastening of the pull-out rail 19 to the sliding door 12 is ensured.

[0052] The base 17 of the pocket is formed in the present case from an extruded profile. Peripheral ribs 25 are provided to fasten the upright walls of the pocket 11, specifically the front 15 and the rear side 16. Claims

1. A piece of furniture having at least one sliding door (12), wherein the at least one sliding door (12) is arranged in a displaceable manner with respect to the piece of furniture (10), wherein: a) the piece of furniture (10) has at least one pocket (11) for accommodating the at least one sliding door (12); b) the at least one sliding door (12) is mounted in a displaceable manner exclusively on the piece of furniture (10); and c) the at least one sliding door (12) is arranged so as to be movable at least partly out of the pocket (11).

2. The piece of furniture according to claim 1, wherein the at least one pocket (11) is dimensioned to accommodate the at least one sliding door (12) that is arranged in a displaceable manner in the region of the at least one pocket (11).

The piece of furniture according to claim 2, wherein the at least one sliding door (12) is movable laterally out of the at least one pocket (11), and wherein the at least one pocket (11) has a corresponding number of openings (18) which are adapted to the arrangement and/or dimensions of the at least one sliding door (12).

The piece of furniture according to claim 1, wherein the at least one pocket (11) is assigned two sliding doors (12), wherein the at least one pocket (11) is dimensioned to substantially precisely accommodate the two sliding doors (12), and wherein the two sliding doors (12) are arranged in each case on one side so as to be movable laterally out of the at least one pocket (11) through a respective opening (18) in the at least one pocket (11).

The piece of furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the at least one pocket (11) is arranged in the region of a front of the piece of furniture (10), such that the at least one pocket (11) conceals at least a part of the piece of furniture (10) and wherein the at least one sliding door (12) is arranged so as to be movable laterally out of the at least one pocket (11) so as to conceal a corresponding space to the side of the at least one pocket (11).

The piece of furniture according to claim 5, further comprising a pull-out rail (19) on the at least one pocket (11) or walls of the at least one pocket (11), wherein the at least one sliding door (12) is mounted in a movable manner via the pull-out rail (19), wherein the pull-out rail (19) has a support part (20) fastened to the at least one pocket (11) or the walls of the at least one pocket (11) and a running rail (21) guided on the support part (20), said running rail (21) being coupled to the at least one sliding door (12) such that the at least one sliding door (12) is arranged such that it can be pulled laterally out of the at least one pocket (11).

The piece of furniture according to claim 6, wherein the support part (20) of the pull-out rail (19) is arranged in the region of a top side of the at least one pocket (11) or of a cover (14) of the at least one pocket (11) and a top side of the at least one sliding door (12) is fastened to the pull-out rail (19), and in that the at least one sliding door (12) is guided on a bottom side of the at least one sliding door (12).

The piece of furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the piece of furniture (10) further contains shelving (30) or the like, wherein a front side of the shelving (30) is at least partially concealed by the at least one pocket (11) and is accessible at least partially on at least one other side of the shelving (30).

The piece of furniture according to claim 8, wherein the piece of furniture (10) further contains a table (37), which is arranged such that the table (37) can be pulled out laterally from the shelving (30), wherein the at least one sliding door (12) can be pulled out of the at least one pocket (11) in order to conceal the table (37) pulled out of the shelving (30).

The piece of furniture according to claim 8, wherein at least one shelf (36) of the shelving (30) is assigned a holder (38) for items of clothing, said holder (38) being fixed with respect to the at least one shelf (36), wherein the at least one shelf (36) is arranged such that it can be pulled laterally out of the shelving (30), and wherein the at least one sliding door (12) can be pulled out of the at least one pocket (11) in order to conceal the at least one shelf (36), having the holder (38), pulled out of the shelving (30).

11. The piece of furniture according to claim 10, wherein the at least one shelf (36) has a peripheral frame (39) and a filling (40) for the frame (39).

12. The piece of furniture according to claim 10, wherein the at least one shelf (36) is mounted such that it can be pulled laterally out of the shelving (30) in the horizontal direction, by means of guide means (43) arranged on the basic structure of the shelving (30).
