USPC Class: 24822022
Class name: Specially mounted or attached interlocked bracket and support intermediate bracket interlocked between bracket and support
Publication date: 2012-09-13
Patent application number: 20120228446

Abstract:

The inventive concept is directed to hardware in the use of a changeable curtain system. The system consists of two parts. A first part is a receiving part permanently mounted on a wall where a curtain is to be hung in front of a window. The second part is a changeable part that is slipped over said first receiving part and maintained thereon. The front of said second receiving part has different curtain rod clip formations thereon. Whenever a curtain is changed and the curtain rod associated therewith requires a different curtain rod, the second receiving part is slipped from the first receiving part and a different second part is slipped over the first receiving part to accommodate the different curtain rod.

Claims:

1. A changeable curtain rod system including a first receiving part permanently mounted on a wall, a second changeable part slipped over said first part, said second part having a protruding clip structure thereon, said clip structure receiving the end of a curtain rod thereon.

2. The changeable curtain rod system of claim 1, wherein said clip structure has different structural formations thereon when said second changeable part is changed.

3. The changeable curtain rod system of claim 1, wherein said first receiving part has upstanding flanges at each side thereof.

4. The changeable curtain rod system of claim 3, wherein said second changeable part has inwardly directed curves thereon to form channels to be slipped over said upstanding flanges.

5. The changeable curtain rod of claim 4, wherein said second changeable part has an interior ledge at an upper end acting as a stop when said second part is slipped over said first part.

6. The changeable curtain rod system of claim 1, wherein said first receiving part has a reinforcing plate on an interior side thereof.

Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The inventive concept is directed toward hardware for mounting curtain rods. Homemakers as well as home fashion designers frequently desire or propose to change the appearance of the curtains that cover the windows or to change the emission of the light that comes into a room by increasing the light or by darkening the room. When a certain change has been decided upon, it turns out that the existing curtain rod cannot accommodate the new design. That means, that the bracket that supports the present curtain rod has also to be changed. The bracket that is screwed into the wall, (mostly sheet rock) also has to be changed. The bracket is screwed into the wall and that mounting cannot support the bracket any longer, especially after several changes have been made. The screws that hold the bracket onto the wall cannot by tightened any more because the screw holes in the wall have deteriorated.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0002] To alleviate the above noted problem, the proposed new hardware is made of two parts. One part is screwed onto the wall and stays there whenever design changes, including the curtain rod, are made. The second part has the structure for the new curtain rod protruding there from and is slipped over the first part and stays attached thereto by way of curves and flanges. Whenever a fashion change is made including a different curtain rod, the only task to be made is to slip the second part off the first part and to reattach second part over the first part. The second part simply has a different curtain rod mounting structure thereon.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0003] FIG. 1 illustrates a changeable curtain rod part that has a curtain rod receiving structure thereon;

[0004] FIG. 2 is a rear view of the structure of FIG. 1;

[0005] FIG. 3 is an exploded and perspective view of how a curtain rod relates to a changeable support structure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The inventive hardware for mounting a curtain rod is shown in FIG. 1. The hardware consists of a first changeable part which is somewhat rectangular or other forms may be used. The front of the first part 1 has mounted thereon a protruding clip that has the proper formation 5 thereon to receive a certain curtain rod to be attached thereto. Other different formation clips will be shown and explained below.

[0007] FIG. 2 is a perspective and rear view of the first changeable part 1 one of FIG. 1. The edges of the first part 1 are rounded inwardly and at each of the sides form a channel 2 and 3. On the upper side and on the inside there is formed a ledge 4 which will act as a stop when the first part is slipped over the second as will be explained below. The front of the first changeable part 1 shows another structure of a curtain mounting clip 6 that will accommodate a different curtain rod than the clip 5 in FIG. 1.

[0008] FIG. 3 is a perspective and exploded view of the structure that will mount a curtain rod. The curtain rod 12 is of a well known design. It is normally constructed of a plastic composition or of aluminum. It is normally constructed in a U-shaped configuration and the ends are bent back to point to a wall. The first changeable part 1 is shown about to be slipped over the second receiving part 7. The front of the changeable part 1 has mounted thereon the clip 6 which will receive the bent back ends of the curtain rod 12. The second receiving part is permanently mounted against a wall by way of screws 8 and 9. The edges of the receiving part 7 are bent forward to form flanges 10 and 11. The flanges 10 and 11 conform to the channels 2 and 3 on the first part. The second receiving part has a reinforcing plate 13 in the center and below the screws 8 and 9 to add rigidity to this part 7. When a change in a curtain design is made and the structure of the curtain rod has also to be changed, it is merely a task to slip the present changeable part 1 off the second receiving part 7 and slip a differently constructed changeable part 1 over the part 7 and a new appearance in the curtain has been accomplished.

[0009] From the foregoing, it will be evident that the present invention provides a neat and easy way to handle changes in the appearance of curtains. The change to a different curtain can easily be handled by a lay person and does not require any tools to make the changes.

[0010] It also will be apparent that, while a particular form of the invention has been illustrated and described, various modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
