Abstract:

A swing training bat has a main body, a connecting tube, a handle, an extension spring, a fastening device, a striker and a securing device. The extension spring, the fastening device and the striker are mounted in the connecting tube. The extension spring is extendable and has two ends securely connected with the fastening device and the striker. The striker is capable of bumping the securing device when the swing training bat is swung. Because the extended extension spring generates a covering force capable of pulling back the striker and reducing a big bumping force between the striker and the securing device, to reduce the bumping force can relieve damage to a batter's hands.

Claims:

1. A swing training bat comprising: a hollow main body having a first end; a second end opposite to the first end of the main body; and an opening axially formed in the second end of the main body; a connecting tube mounted in and protruding out from the opening of the main body and having a first end adjacent to the first end of the main body; and a second end protruding out from the opening of the main body; a handle mounted securely around the second end of the connecting tube; an extension spring axially and extendably mounted in the connecting tube and having a striker end and a fastener end opposite to the striker end; a fastening device connected securely with the connecting tube and the extension spring, mounted in the connecting tube and having an end axially inserted securely into the fastener end of the extension spring; a striker slidably mounted in the connecting tube between the extension spring and the first end of the connecting tube and connected securely with the striker end of the extension spring; and a securing device mounted in the main body, mounted between and securely connected with the first end of the connecting tube and the first end of the main body.

The swing training bat as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fastening device has a base mounted securely in the connecting tube; a cushion spring compressibly mounted between the base and the first end of the connecting tube and abutting the base; a fastener slidably mounted between the first end of the connecting tube and the cushion spring, abutting the cushion spring and having an outer surface; and a threaded section formed around the outer surface of the fastener and axially inserted securely into the fastener end of the extension spring; a fastener bolt mounted through the fastener and the cushion spring and screwed securely into the base; and multiple screws radially mounted into the connecting tube and radially screwed securely into the base.

The swing training bat as claimed in claim 1, wherein the striker has a knob mounted outside and abutting the striker end of the extension spring; a threaded segment axially inserted securely into the striker end of the extension spring and securely connected with the knob; and a rod mounted in the extension spring and connected securely with the threaded segment.

The swing training bat as claimed in claim 2, wherein the striker has a knob mounted outside and abutting the striker end of the extension spring; a threaded segment axially inserted securely into the striker end of the extension spring and securely connected with the knob; and a rod mounted in the extension spring and connected securely with the threaded segment.

The swing training bat as claimed in claim 1, wherein the securing device has a securer axially screwed securely into the first end of the connecting tube and securely connected with the first end of the main body; a washer mounted in the connecting tube and abutting the securer; and a washer bolt mounted in the connecting tube, axially mounted through the washer and axially screwed securely into the securer.

The swing training bat as claimed in claim 2, wherein the securing device has a securer axially screwed securely into the first end of the connecting tube and securely connected with the first end of the main body; a washer mounted in the connecting tube and abutting the securer; and a washer bolt mounted in the connecting tube, axially mounted into the washer and axially screwed securely into the securer.

The swing training bat as claimed in claim 3, wherein the securing device has a securer axially screwed securely into the first end of the connecting tube and securely connected with the first end of the main body; a washer mounted in the connecting tube and abutting the securer; and a washer bolt mounted in the connecting tube, axially mounted into the washer and axially screwed securely into the securer.

The swing training bat as claimed in claim 4, wherein the securing device has a securer axially screwed securely into the first end of the connecting tube and securely connected with the first end of the main body; a washer mounted in the connecting tube and abutting the securer; and a washer bolt mounted in the connecting tube, axially mounted into the washer and axially screwed securely into the securer.

9. The swing training bat as claimed in claim 7, wherein the connecting tube has a middle segment located between the first end and the second end of the connecting tube; and the fastening device is mounted in the middle segment of the connecting tube.

10. The swing training bat as claimed in claim 8, wherein the connecting tube has a middle segment located between the first end and the second end of the connecting tube; and the fastening device is mounted in the middle segment of the connecting tube.

Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a bat of baseball or softball, and more particularly to a swing training bat which can reduce a bumping force and relieve damage to a batter's hands.

[0003] 2. Description of Related Art

[0004] A conventional swing training bat is used to train a batter's swing in baseball or softball. With reference to FIG. 8, the conventional swing training bat has a rod 81, a handle 82, a blocker 83 and a sliding weight 84. The rod 81 has two ends. The handle 82 and the blocker 83 respectively are mounted securely around the ends of the rod 81. The sliding weight 84 is slidably mounted around the rod 81 between the handle 82 and the blocker 83 and normally abuts the handle 82.

[0005] When the conventional swing training bat is swung by a batter in a correct way, the sliding weight 84 is quickly slid and bumps the blocker 83 to make a loud sound which allows the batter to know whether the batter's swing is correct.

[0006] However, a big bumping force between the sliding weight 84 and the blocker 83 easily causes damage to the batter's hands. The big bumping force is not safe for the batter.

[0007] To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to provide a swing training bat to mitigate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The main objective of the invention is to provide a swing training bat which can cushion a bumping force and relieve damage to a batter's hands.

[0009] A swing training bat has a main body, a connecting tube, a handle, an extension spring, a fastening device, a striker and a securing device. The extension spring, the fastening device and the striker are mounted in the connecting tube. The extension spring is extendable and has two ends securely connected with the fastening device and the striker. The striker is capable of bumping the securing device when the swing training bat is swung. Because the extended extension spring generates a covering force capable of pulling back the striker and reducing a big bumping force between the striker and the securing device, to reduce the bumping force can relieve damage to a batter's hands.

[0010] Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0019] With reference to FIGS. 1 to 3, a swing training bat in accordance with the present invention comprises a main body 10, a connecting tube 20, a handle 30, an extension spring 40, a fastening device 50, a striker 60 and a securing device 70.

[0020] The main body 10 has an elongated bat-shaped hollow shell and has a first end, a second end and an opening 11. The second end of the main body 10 is opposite to the first end of the main body 10. The opening 11 is axially formed in the second end of the main body 10.

[0021] The connecting tube 20 is mounted in and protrudes out from the opening 11 of the main body 10. The connecting tube 20 has a first end 21, a second end 22 and a middle segment 23. The first end 21 of the connecting tube 20 is connected to the first end of the main body 10 via the securing device 70. The second end 22 of the connecting tube 20 protrudes out from the opening 11 of the main body 10. The middle segment 23 is located between the first end 21 and the second end 22 of the connecting tube 20.

[0022] The handle 30 is mounted securely around the second end 22 of the connecting tube 20, is elongated, extends to the middle segment 23 of the connecting tube 20 and is adjacent to the main body 10.

[0023] The extension spring 40 is axially and extendably mounted in the connecting tube 20 and has a fastener end and a striker end opposite to the fastener end. As long as the extension spring 40 is extendable and can recover to an original position, the present invention does not limit a spring constant, a size or a weight of the extension spring 40.

[0024] With further reference to FIG. 4, the fastening device 50 is connected securely with the connecting tube 20 and the extension spring 40. The fastening device 50 is mounted in the middle segment 23 of the connecting tube 20 and has a base 51, a cushion spring 52, a fastener 53, a fastener bolt 54 and multiple screws 55. The base 51 is mounted securely in the connecting tube 20. The cushion spring 52 is compressibly mounted between the base 51 and the first end 21 of the connecting tube 20 and abuts the base 51. The fastener 53 is slidably mounted between the first end 21 of the connecting tube 20 and the cushion spring 52, abuts the cushion spring 52 and has an outer surface and a threaded section 531. The threaded section 531 is formed around the outer surface of the fastener 53 and is axially inserted securely into the fastener end of the extension spring 40. The fastener bolt 54 is mounted through the fastener 53 and the cushion spring 52 and is screwed securely into the base 51 to offer a force that makes the fastener 53 press the cushion spring 52. The screws 55 are radially mounted into the middle segment 23 of the connecting tube 20 and are radially screwed securely into the base 51.

[0025] The striker 60 is slidably mounted in the connecting tube 20 between the extension spring 40 and the first end 21 of the connecting tube 20. The striker 60 has a knob 61, a threaded segment 62 and a rod 63. The knob 61 is mounted outside and abuts the striker end of the extension spring 40. The threaded segment 62 is axially inserted securely into the striker end of the extension spring 40 and is securely connected with the knob 61. The rod 63 is mounted in the extension spring 40 and is connected securely with the threaded segment 62.

[0026] With further reference to FIG. 5, the securing device 70 is mounted in the main body 10, is mounted between and securely connected with the first end of the main body 10 and the first end 21 of the connecting tube 20 and has a securer 71, a washer 72 and a washer bolt 73. The securer 71 is axially screwed securely into the first end 21 of the connecting tube 20 and is securely connected with the first end of the main body 10. The washer 72 is mounted in the connecting tube 20 and abuts the securer 71. The washer bolt 73 is mounted in the connecting tube 20, is axially mounted through the washer 72 and is axially screwed securely into the securer 71.

[0027] With further reference to FIGS. 2, 6 and 7, when the swing training bat in accordance with the present invention is in use, the handle 30 is gripped by a batter and the swing training bat is swung in a correct way to generate a centrifugal force. The centrifugal force is applied to the striker 60 and makes the striker 60 slide toward the securing device 70. Accordingly, the extension spring 40 is expanded by the striker 60 because the threaded segment 62 is securely connected with the striker end of the extension spring 40. Consequently, the striker 60 strikes the securing device 70 to make a sound which allows the batter to know whether the batter's swing is correct. Accordingly, the expanded extension spring 40 generates a recovering force capable of pulling back the striker 60 and reducing a big bumping force between the striker 60 and the securing device 70. To reduce the bumping force can relieve damage to the batter's hands.

[0028] When the striker 60 is pulled back to compress and push down the extension spring 40, the fastener 53 compresses the cushion spring 52. Consequently, the cushion spring 52 can cushion the fastener 53, the extension spring 40 and the striker 60.

[0029] Additionally, different spring constant, size or weight of the extension spring 40 can be chosen to fit different batter's needs. From the above description, it is noted that the present invention has the following advantages:

[0031] Because the extended extension spring 40 generates a covering force capable of pulling back the striker 60 and reducing a big bumping force, to reduce the bumping force can relieve damage to a batter's hands.

[0032] 2. Cushioning the fastener 53, the extension spring 40 and the striker 60:

[0033] When the striker 60 is pulled back to compress the extension spring 40, the fastener 53 compresses the cushion spring 52. Therefore, the fastener 53, the extension spring 40 and the striker 60 can be cushioned by the cushion spring 52 when the striker 60 is pulled back.

[0034] 3. Good versatility for different batters:

[0035] Because different spring constant, size or weight of the extension spring 40 can be chosen to fit different batter's needs, the swing training bat in accordance with the present invention is versatile in use.
