BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0008] FIG. 1 is a diagram of a kit according to one embodiment of the invention.

[0009] FIGS. 2 and 3 are diagrams of alternative embodiments of the kit.

[0010] Corresponding reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0011] The invention in one aspect is a kit and a method for commemorating a religious occasion such as a baptism, first communion, confirmation, bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah, or marriage, etc. The invention also encompasses a kit and method for commemorating an occasion such as a funeral, birth, graduation, or other rite of passage. The invention also encompasses a kit and method for providing comfort, aid and hope in dealing with difficult and/or life-changing circumstances such as cancer, loss of a job, overcoming addiction, going away to college. And in a further aspect the invention is a kit and method for Bible study or learning scripture; or for scripture exchange or community outreach, or for creating scripture postcards for mailing. The entire disclosure of U.S. provisional application 61/324,792 is expressly incorporated herein by reference.

[0012] The kit is specifically designed for soliciting, collecting, exchanging, disseminating, aiding in scripture memorization, and organizing personalized information in several Biblical categories which are different from each other. In one embodiment the kit comprises first, second, and third categories which are different from each other, by which it is meant the kit has at least three categories, for example three, four, five, six or more categories.

[0013] As illustrated schematically in FIG. 1, the kit has a first plurality of first cards C1A, C1B, and C1C corresponding to a first category C1. Here it is shown by example as three cards but most embodiments of the kit contain many more than three cards for each category. Each card C1A, C1B, and C1C has a design configuration that is unique to the first category, and common to each of the cards C1A, C1B, and C1C. In the most preferred embodiments, this design configuration is a color, and each card in the first category has the same color, and cards outside the first category are a different color. Accordingly, the cards of the first category are distinguishable from the cards of the second category and from the cards of the third category by color.

[0014] Alternatively, the unique design configurations comprise a unique pattern of each plurality of cards such that the first cards have a different pattern than the patterns of the second and third cards and the second cards have a different pattern than the third cards. In a further alternative, the unique design configurations comprise a unique shape of each plurality of cards such that the first cards have a different shape from the shapes of the second and third cards and the second cards have a different shape from the third cards. The same holds for fourth, fifth, etc. cards.

[0015] FIG. 1 also shows schematically the second plurality of second cards C2A, C2B, and C2C corresponding only to the second category, and the third plurality of cards C3A, C3B, and C3C corresponding only to the third category. Each of the second cards has a second unique design configuration different from the first design configuration of the first plurality of first cards. Each of the third cards has a third unique design configuration different from the first and design configurations of the first and second plurality of first and second cards. For example, in one embodiment the first category is praise and the first color is yellow, the second category is peace/hope and the second color is blue, and the third category is faith/growth and the third color is green. In another embodiment, the first category is repent/forgive and the first color is purple, the second category is help and the second color is red, and the third category is faith/growth and the third color is green.

[0016] The categories are subject matter classifications of Biblical verses and are adapted to receive a handwritten Biblical verse corresponding to the category and perhaps a personalized message on the reverse side of the card, per instructions in the kit, and/or mailing information and postage in the adaptation as a postcard. Examples of such categories include praise, peace, hope, faith, growth, repent, forgive, help, joy, wisdom, family values, comfort, love, prayers, blessings, etc.

[0017] The kit also includes as shown in FIG. 1 a first divider D1 supporting a first tab T1, where the first divider and said first tab correspond to the first category; a second divider D2 supporting a second tab T2, the second divider and the second tab corresponding to the second category; and a third divider D3 supporting a third tab T3, the third divider and the third tab corresponding to the third category. Here it should be emphasized that the term tab is used herein in its conceptual sense, and T1 etc. in the Figures is schematic, as the tabs may be markers or indicators other than "tab" in the strict dictionary sense of a physical projection. In one embodiment where the tabs are, in fact, physical projections, the tabs are imprinted with the title of the category, e.g. "Praise" and "Peace," and some categories may consist of two concepts, e.g., peace and hope may be combined as "Peace/Hope." The first divider D1 has the same design configuration as the first cards, the second divider D2 has the same design configuration as the second cards, and the third divider D3 has the same design configuration as the third cards. So, for example, in the examples described above, D1, D2, and D3 are yellow, blue, and green, or purple, red, and green, respectively.

[0018] Also, FIG. 1 shows a container 100 for receiving the cards and for receiving the dividers such that each category within the container consists of its corresponding divider adjacent to its corresponding plurality of cards within the container. The nature of the container is not narrowly critical, and it is either a box with a hinged or removable lid or a flexible, closable pouch in one preferred embodiment, or a scrap book, or a photo/scripture card album, or other container to be created.

[0019] The various combinations within the scope of the invention will be well understood from the above description. By way of illustration, for example, in one embodiment the container 100 is a box with a hinged lid. The categories and color combinations are Praise--yellow, Peace/Hope--blue, Faith/Hope--green, Repent/Forgive--purple, and Help--red. So the cards and dividers are yellow, blue, green, purple, and red.

[0020] FIGS. 2 and 3 show more specific embodiments of the invention. In FIG. 2, the C1 cards and D1 divider are lined for the color yellow, the C2 cards and divider are lined for the color blue, the C3 cards and D3 are lined for the color green. In FIG. 3, the colors are purple, red, and green, respectively. In each of the Figures, the container shows a central square holder in which a photo such as a photo of the recipient may be stored. As a further alternative, the container may be a recipe box in which recipes are also stored.

[0021] The invention is also directed to a method of making a memory container for a recipient. The recipient may be, for example, a person or family expecting the birth or adoption of a child birth, or a person receiving a Christian or Jewish sacrament, such as Christian confirmation, first communion, or baptism, or marriage, or Jewish bar/bat mitzvah. The invention is also applicable to situations where the recipient is grieving the death of a loved one, dealing with the loss of a job, dealing with a disease or change in health, overcoming addiction, going away to college, missionaries, retiring, orphaned, or facing incarcerated living. The invention is further adaptable to education and fellowship, such as in the context of teen or adult Bible study, or as a scripture memorization or bible study curriculums in religious schools; and is applicable to occasions or parties (e.g., Easter, Christmas, Passover, Hanukkah, Yom Kippur), gatherings (e.g., small groups, moms groups, prayer groups).

[0022] In carrying out this aspect of the invention, the performer provides the container to the recipient. The performer also selects a plurality of categories from among categories which are subject matter classifications of Biblical verses. For example, the performer may have a kit with options to select categories from among praise, peace/hope, faith/growth, repent/forgive, and help. The performer may select all of these categories, or less than all of these categories. The performer then selects a plurality of collections of cards, where each card of a collection has the same unique design configuration different from any other collection of cards. In other words, the performer selects a collection of yellow cards, a collection of blue cards, and so on. Each card is adapted to receive a handwritten Biblical verse corresponding to a selected category and a handwritten personalized note on the reverse-side which may or may not follow instructions contained in the kit, and/or mailing instructions/postage. Each card is configured to be received in the container.

[0023] The performer also selects a plurality of dividers, each divider supporting a tab which corresponds to only one of the categories such that each category has only one corresponding tab. Each divider is configured to be received in the container.

[0024] The performer then distributes the cards to different individuals and requests the individuals to handwrite Biblical verses onto one or more of the cards. The performer asks the individuals to return the cards with the handwritten Biblical verses thereon to the recipient. For example, if a parent is carrying out the invention for the benefit of a child going through the sacrament of confirmation, the parent distributes cards to aunts, uncles, grandparents, Godparents, family friends, etc. and asks them to handwrite a scripture verse relating to, e.g., the concept of praise onto one of the yellow cards, and then mail or otherwise deliver the card back to the child, i.e., the recipient. The performer optionally requests the individuals to handwrite a personalized note on the reverse side of the card per instructions in the kit or at the recipient's discretion. The parent may send multiple cards from multiple categories to each relative/friend, or may send only one card to each individual. Or the performer may send the individuals multiple cards from multiple categories and ask the individuals to select one or more category in which to provide handwritten scripture.

[0025] The recipient then collects the distributed cards to which have added handwritten Biblical verses; places the dividers in the container; groups each collection of cards according to its category; and places each collection of cards in the container adjacent to the divider having the corresponding category.

[0026] Alternatively, the performer may instruct the individuals to return the cards to the performer, and then the performer collects the distributed cards to which have added handwritten Biblical verses; places the dividers in the container; groups each collection of cards according to its category; and places each collection of cards in the container adjacent to the divider having the corresponding category.

[0027] The foregoing in one embodiment is carried out for the benefit of one receiving a sacrament. In an alternative embodiment it is carried out for the benefit of one who has recently undergone a significant event, such as the death of a loved one.

[0028] In a further embodiment of the invention, the invention is used in the context of Bible study, gathering (e.g., small group, fellowship, etc), party (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc) or similar religious education. A participant (e.g., student or adult) uses an apparatus having the container, cards, dividers and categories described above. The participant may handwrite scripture on cards for his or her own container. Or a group of participants may handwrite scripture on cards for exchanging with each other, so each participant's container contains cards with verses selected and handwritten by other participants.

[0029] This invention therefore facilitates the building of a collection of scripture handwritten by friends and loved ones in many cases which are useful for Praise (Yellow), Peace and Hope (Blue), Faith and Spiritual Growth (Green), Repentance and Forgiveness (Purple), Help (Red), Prayers/Blessings (White), Spiritual Warfare (Silver), Warnings/Advice (Orange), Names of the Lord (Brown/Parchment/Tan), God's Promises (Rainbow) and will become a treasured keepsake because the scripture cards are personalized and handwritten. Other applicable concepts include but are not limited to Joy, Rejoicing, Gratitude, Hope, Grace, Encouragement, Trust, Cleansing, Rest, Freedom, His Promises, Covenants, Jesus, Son, Spiritual Growth, Wisdom, Obligations, Family Values, Discipline, Life of Sacrifice, Holy Living, Yielding, Surrendering, The Tongue/Speech, Spiritual Gifts, Discipleship, Guidance, Direction, Reconciliation, Fasting, Holy Spirit, Healing, Comfort, Compassion, Love, Strength, Refuge, Protection, Redemption, Restoration, Deliverance, Salvation, Sanctification, Father, Abba, YHWH, Anointing, Consecrations, Overcoming the Enemy, Spiritual Weapons, Spiritual Armor, and Victory and Precautions, Instructions, Commands, Traditions, Remembrance. The colors and categories are of course only exemplary and other categories and colors and combinations are within the scope of the invention. More than a scripture classification and storage system, it grows into a tool for Bible study, meditation on and memorization of the Word, evangelism, fellowship, serving and ministering to others, and for the creation of a treasured keepsake with a lasting legacy.

[0030] In the one embodiment, the invention is useful for schools, the home school community, churches, and other organizations as a practical and easy-to-use resource in conjunction with memory programs and other religious curriculum. Participants (e.g., students) categorize assigned memory work into one of the categories and then handwrite the scripture on the appropriate card. Participants will also use the kit in religious studies. The discussions that students will have with each other, with teachers, and with parents, of how to categorize scripture lead to further understanding of the scripture and encourages students to interpret and apply scripture to their own lives. Students/Parents/Teachers may write, on the reverse side of the card what the scripture means to them, why they picked the verse and/or any other message per the curriculum. Participants may use one card to study in school and at home--and then file the card in their box when they have memorized the scripture. Participants may also create cards during the course of their religious curriculum. Extra cards can be exchanged among participants, given to family members, mailed to members of the Church to nurture the relationship between the school and the Church, or mailed out into the community as part of an outreach and evangelism effort.

[0031] In another embodiment, the invention comprises color-coded Bible highlighters, a study guide, bookmark reference, and a travel pouch. The kit is similar to the one for Bible Study, with different packaging. The guide leads the user through using the scripture classification system, using the cards, and using the Bible highlighters for personal Bible Study, in conjunction with existing or new Bible study programs, or other religious curriculum. The kits can be used for small groups, youth group programs, confirmation classes, bar/bat mitzvah classes, vacation bible school, or other religious curriculum or gatherings.

[0032] As noted above, a further alternative of the invention is in the form of a kit for weddings, baptisms, confirmations, for graduations, births, birthdays, etc., which make a treasured gift for each occasion. The contents of the kit are as described above and may include additional contents, instructions, and different packaging. Family and friends, based on instructions in a letter sent by the parent, friend, or other performer, select scripture in one or more of the categories/colors and then handwrite a scripture postcard. The flipside of the postcard can be used to either mail the postcard to the recipient or to write a message about why the scripture was selected, or other message according to instructions in the kit or otherwise. So the card may be a postcard configured for mailing.

[0033] The postcards can either be hand-delivered or mailed to the recipient. The scripture, handwritten by loved ones, creates a gift that keeps giving for years to come. Another benefit of the creation of this kit is that friends and family become familiar with scripture as they select and handwrite scripture for the recipient. A sponsor or friend of the person being baptized, confirmed, married, etc. sends a letter included in the kit, via mail, email or other mode, or otherwise communicates with friends and relatives of the person. This sponsor provides a card to the friends/relatives and guidance on selection of scripture to hand-write onto the card. The friends/relatives select scripture, write it on the card, perhaps add a personal note which may or may not follow instructions in the kit, and mail or otherwise deliver the card back to the person. The recipient therefore has a collection of cards bearing scripture selected and handwritten by loved ones, and perhaps which reinforces the person's faith throughout his or her life. In all of the embodiments of the invention, the recipient of course has an option to supplement the kit with photographs to provide fond memories of events and people. And the sponsor or other person soliciting the handwritten scripture may also optionally request from individuals providing scripture that they also provide photos for the recipient to include in the keepsake.

[0034] In another embodiment, the kit is for funerals and memorial services to create a cherished relic for the loved ones of the departed. This box, photo/card album, or scrapbook contains the contents referenced above and additional contents, instructions, and different packaging. Family and friends select a scripture from one of the categories and handwrite it on the card. On the other side of the card, they may write their favorite memory of the departed or other remarks per the instruction included in the kit. The other side of the card may begin with the words, "I Remember." The cards may be put into the box, album, or scrapbook at the wake, funeral or memorial service, or they can be delivered later, bringing comfort and precious memories to the recipient. The user receives instructions that can be mailed or handed out to assist with the creation of the cards. So, for example, a sponsor or friend of a survivor such as a widow, widower, son, daughter, friend etc. of the departed person sends a letter or otherwise communicates with friends and relatives of the survivor. This sponsor provides a card to the friends/relatives and guidance on selection of scripture to hand-write onto the card. The friends/relatives select scripture, write it on the card, perhaps add a personal note, and mail or otherwise deliver the card back to the survivor or an agent for the survivor or the sponsor as an agent for the survivor. The survivor therefore has a collection of cards bearing scripture selected by loved ones, which reinforces the survivor's faith throughout his or her life, and his or her trust in God's plan for the departed and the survivor--and may also aid in the grieving process.

[0035] A feature of each of the above embodiments is that cards are created with scripture passages relating to a particular category. For example, if "Praise" is selected and yellow as its corresponding color, the yellow Praise cards should contain scripture that exemplifies praise and worship of the Lord. The cards in this category will celebrate His majesty and perfection. One example of such scripture is "Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you." Psalm 63:3-5. Another example is "`This, then is how you should pray: "`Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name . . . `" Matthew 6:9.

[0036] If another selection is blue cards and Peace/Hope category, the blue Peace/Hope cards ought to include scripture that embodies peace, e.g., "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13. Another example is "And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known. I will make darkness into light before them and make uneven places into a plain. These things I have determined to do and I will not leave them forsaken." Isaiah 43:16.

[0037] An example of a Faith/Growth category Bible verse would be "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2. Also, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:5-7.

Example 1

[0038] As noted above, in one embodiment the invention is used in the context of fellowship and scripture education. Here is an exemplary excerpt from written materials for a teen Bible study:

[0039] The next meeting will be a celebration of Thanksgiving as we give attention to handling feelings of Praise and Joy. It will be an extra-special evening with the gathering of new friends! We will be lifting up praises of thanksgiving to God for the gift of His Son, for friends and family, for sisters-in-Christ, for our daily bread (including the yummy food of the evening) and for every good and perfect gift--because it's all from Him (James 1:17)! We will put on a garment of praise and the oil of gladness (Isaiah 61:3), coming before Him with thanksgiving and extolling Him with music and song (Psalm 95:2). We will discuss choosing the attitude of gratitude, understanding the power of praise, and anticipating a journey of joy found only through Christ Jesus.

[0040] Scripture Memory Creations: Come to the meeting prepared with two yellow scripture cards to contribute to the exchange--one for you and one for your friend. Choose scripture from the selection listed on the reverse-side, or find another that puts praise on the lips, boasts in the joy of the Lord and glorifies His name. Write the scripture on the lined side of the yellow card(s) and bring both cards with you to the next meeting. Remember to indicate the book, chapter, and verse(s) on the upper right-hand corner. On the plain backside of each card, write, "Dear Friend, May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).

[0041] Attention!!!: You will need to bring two yellow scripture cards so that your friend will receive one in the exchange. You can use the same scripture twice or select two different scriptures.

[0042] Take the Challenge. Bring a friend for whom you are thankful--someone who may enjoy Breaking Bread.

[0043] Deuteronomy 32:3-4. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

[0044] Psalm 13:5-6. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord's praise, for he has been good to me.

[0045] Psalm 28:7-8. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

[0046] Psalm 95:1-2. Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

[0047] Psalm 100:3-5. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

[0048] Psalm 117:1-2. Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.

[0049] 1 Peter 1:3. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

[0050] Hebrews 13:15-16. Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

[0051] Ephesians 1:3. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Example 2

[0052] Here is a second exemplary excerpt from written materials for a teen Bible study:

[0053] At the next meeting, we will focus on the feelings of sadness and depression. Sadness is a healthy, God-given emotion. "Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart." (Ecclesiastes 7:3). Emotionally healthy people feel and show sadness when they experience loss and the greater the loss, the greater the sadness. We should follow Jesus's example in all things, including sadness. "Jesus wept" at the loss of his friend Lazarus, even knowing He was going to raise his friend from the dead. Jesus felt sadness and allowed himself to process that sadness with tears and grief. It is healthy to allow yourself to feel sad and cry when you feel like crying. It is also healthy to allow others to process sadness and not try to "fix" someone who is sad, but rather be there to comfort and listen. Sadness helps us appreciate happiness and allows us be more compassionate to other people's pain. Sadness sometimes makes us aware that we are experiencing a loss of some kind, when we may not even realize the loss on an intellectual level. Sadness and loss are hard, yet can lead to growth when handled in a healthy way--God's Way.

[0054] Depression is a physical illness that some people experience, including teens. It is an illness that we need to be educated to recognize just as we are educated to recognize other illnesses. If necessary, we may need to seek treatment that leads to a restoration of emotional health. God does not want us to live in a state of depression. He wants us to see the goodness of life, even amidst pain--and depression clouds out hope and goodness.

[0055] We know, though, that Jesus wants us to come to him with our sadness and burdens (Matthew 11:28). He is our Counselor--He knows what we need and how to help us (John 14:16, 26). He is the God of all Comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He will always listen and his compassion never fails. (Lamentations 3:22). Suffering leads to hope. (Romans 5:3-4). And God will wipe away every tear from our eyes. (Revelation 7:17).

[0056] Scripture Memory Creations®: Select scripture that brings comfort. Select scripture that reminds you to rest in His compassion and unfailing love. Scripture that assures you that He will comfort and restore you and that He is so very close to the brokenhearted. For example, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all." (Psalm 34:17-19). Write it on the lined side of a red card and bring this card with you to the next meeting. Remember to indicate the book, chapter and verse(s) on the top line in the upper right-hand corner. On the plain backside, write . . . "Dear Friend, God hears your prayers, every one of them. God is with you. He will strengthen you, support you, and surround you with His love.

Example 3

[0057] Here is a third exemplary excerpt from written materials for a teen Bible study, in which parents are invited to contribute to the building of the kit:

[0058] We have included a colored index card in case you would like to contribute to your daughter's scripture collection. You may find Biblegateway.com helpful in completing this.

[0059] Following along with the flavor of the activity on personality traits, you might want to consider this . . . On the back of the card, write something like "Dear . . . , I am proud of your character. You are . . . (for example, BOLD or CONSIDERATE). Love, Mom--or Dad."

[0060] Then on the lined-side of the card, write a bible verse that contains that word and speaks to that Christian trait. For example, "The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as BOLD as a lion." (Proverbs 28:1). Or, respectively, "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, CONSIDERATE, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." (James 3:17) Write the Book, chapter and verse in the upper right-hand corner. You might want to hide it under her pillow so she finds it right before she goes to sleep.

Example 4

[0061] Here is an exemplary letter of the kit which provides guidance to Confirmation sponsors when contacting individuals to solicit scripture quotes, in the embodiment of the invention pertaining to a kit and method for commemorating Confirmation:

[0062] Dear Family and Friends, as part of Sara's Confirmation gift, I am creating a Scripture Memory Creations Box and I need your help because it will not be complete without your contribution. Some of you may be familiar with this; but if not, please take a couple of minutes to read through this letter and see if you would like to participate in this gift. If you decide to "contribute," please select and handwrite a favorite Bible scripture on one (or more) of the enclosed color-coded cards. My hope is that this scripture collection will come to be quite meaningful for Sara and, with God's help, it will help to continue a legacy of faith. I pray that this gift will speak to Sara's heart, and to yours, too. That it will open hearts to just how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ--and show Sara just how much she is loved by her family.

[0063] Enclosed you will find four colored index cards and a stamped envelope for return to Sara. You may decide to send one card now and another one later--that would be great, too. Simply write Sara's address on the blank side of the note card and you can mail it as a postcard with postcard postage.

[0064] As described below, each of the colored cards signifies a "category" of scripture. If you would like to contribute one or more card(s), please select a category and then handwrite a favorite scripture on the appropriate colored card. Indicate the Book and Verse on the top line of the upper right hand corner of the card. Please sign the card on the back. If you would like to indicate, on the back of the card, the reason you selected the verse--that would be wonderful, too. This box is also a recipe box (Jesus answered, "It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.`" Matthew 4:4), so if you would like to send Sara a special recipe on a 4Ă—6 recipe card--I am sure she will treasure that, too.

[0065] Below are a description and an example of each category. I have included examples of His Word from both the Old and New Testaments.

[0066] Yellow--Praise. The Yellow Praise cards should contain the Word that exemplifies praise and worship of our Lord and celebrates His majesty and perfection.

[0067] "Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you." Psalm 63:3-5

[0068] "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.`" Philippians 4:4,5

[0069] Blue--Peace/Hope. The Blue Peace/Hope cards should include scripture that embodies the peace that is found through Christ and the hope created in your future when you are walking with God.

[0070] "And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known. I will make darkness into light before them and make uneven places into a plain. These things I have determined to do and I will not leave them forsaken." Isaiah 43:16

[0071] "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

[0072] Green--Faith/Growth. Green Faith/Growth scripture cards include God's instruction for Christian living and spiritual growth. This is the Word containing the foundations of the faith and the "daily bread" of His ways. This is the scripture that reveals His wisdom and knowledge, which is more precious than gold.

[0073] "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:5-7.

[0074] "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

[0075] Red--Help. Red Help cards should consist of the Word that illustrates God's comfort and counsel and the scripture that aids in asking for, and receiving God's help. God's promises to save may be written on the Help cards. When you find the Word that reveals God's unfailing love and deliverance, record them in this category.

[0076] "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

[0077] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

[0078] Sara will be receiving this box on her Confirmation, which is just around the corner and may have already taken place by the time you receive this letter. We thought it might be nice if your cards were mailed to Sara over the course of the next several weeks or so. That way, they will come in slowly and she will have time to read through them as they trickle in . . . and young ladies always like to receive mail. Thank you for your time and help in creating this gift for Sara.

Example 5

[0079] Here is an exemplary letter of the kit which provides guidance to one when contacting individuals to solicit scripture quotes, in the embodiment of the invention pertaining to a kit and method for providing comfort in a time of death of a loved one:

[0080] Dear Family and Friends, as we mourn the loss of our beloved, John, we also celebrate his life. Life for his family will be forever changed. We cling to the hope of our Savior, our Rock Eternal, our Comforter our Prince of Peace, and the truth of the Word. Jesus came to take John home. John's family is left behind, but not alone, as they anticipate reuniting in Heaven. To help John's widow Joan and her family in dealing with this great loss, we would like to ask your help in creating a Scripture Memory Creations Memorial Box and we need your help because it won't be complete without your contribution.

[0081] To contribute, you will be selecting and handwriting a Bible scripture that you believe will bring comfort, hope, peace, joy and increased faith in our Sovereign Lord. You will also be sending her a special handwritten memory of John. Please follow the directions below and we thank you for helping our family through this difficult time. You may want to complete a card while you are at the service or take it home for more time for reflection.

[0082] As described below, the colored cards signify a "category" of scripture. Please select a colored card and then handwrite a favorite scripture to go along with the appropriate category, on the lined-side. Indicate the Book and Verse on the top line of the upper right hand corner of the card.

[0083] On the reverse, blank side of the card, please handwrite a personal message about John (don't forget to sign your name). Some suggestions are listed after the scripture category descriptions. I pray that this gift will speak to Joan's heart, and to yours, too. That it will open hearts to just how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ--and show Joan just how much she, and John, are loved by family and friends.

[0084] Enclosed you will find an assortment of colored cards. Use this stamped envelope for return to Judy. You may decide to send one card now and another one later--that would be great, too as we pray these treasures that come in the mail will be healing in His perfect timing.

[0085] Below are descriptions and examples of each category.

[0086] Yellow--Praise/Joy. The Yellow Praise cards should contain verse(s) that exemplify praise and bring joy with the worship of our Lord and the celebration His majesty and perfection.

[0087] "Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you." Psalm 63:3-5.

[0088] "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.`" Philippians 4:4,5

[0089] Blue--Peace/Hope. The Blue Peace/Hope cards should include scripture that will bring peace and inspire hope.

[0090] "Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:30-31.

[0091] "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13.

[0092] Green--Faith/Growth. Green Faith/Growth scripture cards include the Word containing that inspires increased faith and spiritual growth.

[0093] "For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name." Psalm 86:10-11

[0094] "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:1-2

[0095] Red--Help/Comfort. Red Help cards should consist of the Word that will bring God's comfort, counsel and encouragement. They may contain scripture that aids in asking for, and receiving God's help and comfort or His promises.

[0096] "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

[0097] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

[0098] After you have written the scripture on the lined side of the colored card(s), write a memory of John on the back. Use one or more of the following suggestions, or create your own note: "I remember when . . . "; "You may not know this, but . . . "; "John touched my life and this is how . . . "; "The thing I loved/admired most about John was . . . " Or, you may write a note to indicate why you selected the verse.

[0099] Thank you for your help in creating a memorial box for Joan and her family.
