Abstract:

A cleaning disk for an optical pickup head of an optical disk drive has a disk body with a first surface and a second surface. The disk body uses at least one two-step hole portion to mount at least one brush bundle, wherein the two-step hole includes an embedded fine hole and an expansion hole. The brush bundle has a root portion and an end portion, wherein the root portion is fixed in the embedded fine hole, and the end portion protrudes towards the facing direction of the second surface through the expansion hole. When the brush bundle cleans the optical pickup head, the inner edge of the embedded fine hole on the first surface is used as a pivot point to bend the brush bundle into the expansion hole, thus reducing the resistance and wiping damage on the optical pickup head and the planar shifting of the cleaning disk.

Claims:

1. A cleaning disk for cleaning an optical pickup head of an optical disk drive, wherein the cleaning disk has a disk body which has the same size with a standard optical disk, and the disk body has a central mounting hole, and the disk body has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface, and the cleaning disk is characterized in that: the disk body uses at least one two-step hole portion to mount at least one brush bundle; the two-step hole comprises an embedded fine hole and an expansion hole concentric with the embedded fine hole, wherein the embedded file hole is formed on the first surface of the disk body, and the expansion hole is formed on the second surface of the disk body; and the brush bundle is formed by clustering a plurality of brushes and has a root portion and an end portion opposite to the root portion, and the root portion is fixed in the embedded fine hole, and the end portion protrudes towards the facing direction of the second surface of the disk body through the expansion hole.

2. The cleaning disk as claimed in claim 1, wherein the expansion hole is substantially formed in a cone shape.

3. The cleaning disk as claimed in claim 1, wherein the expansion hole is substantially formed in a cylinder shape.

4. The cleaning disk as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one brush bundles are plural and are disposed at intervals, and the brush bundles are at different radial distances from the central mounting hole.

5. The cleaning disk as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first surface is a signal surface of the cleaning disk on which a print surface is disposed, and the second surface is a reading surface of the cleaning disk.

RELATED APPLICATIONS

BACKGROUND

[0002] 1. Field of Invention

[0003] The present invention relates to a cleaning disk. More particularly, the present invention relates to a cleaning disk for an optical pickup head of an optical disk drive.

[0004] 2. Description of Related Art

[0005] When an optical disk drive (BD/DVD/CD player) is in storage or operation, its optical pickup head sometimes will is polluted due to the invasion of dirt or other foreign, thus resulting in the situations of poor reading signals or reading failure, and needing a cleaning device to clean the optical pickup head.

[0006] A common cleaning device for the optical pickup head is a disk body like an optical disk on which brushes are planted. When the optical pickup head passes through the brushes, the brushes clean the optical pickup head.

[0007] FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing a conventional cleaning disk for an optical pickup head, and FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the cleaning action of the conventional cleaning. As shown in the figures, the conventional cleaning disk has stored signals similar to those stored in a common optical disk, a disk body 310 has a fixing hole penetrating from its first surface 311 to its second surface 312 opposite to the first surface 311, thereby mounting a brush bundle 320, i.e. after being fixed within the whole thickness of the disk body 310, the brush bundle 320 protrudes towards the facing direction of the second surface 312. When an optical pickup head 200 of an optical drive passes through the brush bundle 320, an end portion of the brush bundle 320 touches the optical pickup head 200 and is bent inwards by using the inner edge of the fixing hole 313 at the second surface 312 as a pivot point 314. However, the pivot point 314 is quite close to the optical pickup head 200. In other words, the distance between the pivot point 314 and the optical pickup head 200 is relatively short, and thus a relatively large resistance will be caused when the brush bundle 320 is bent to touch the optical pickup head 200 with respect to the pivot point 314, and the large contact resistance will result in damages on the optical pickup head 200. Especially for a blue-light disk pickup head (BD Laser Lens), the distance between the pickup head and the optical disk is even shorter, and a even larger resistance is caused after the brush bundle 320 is bent with respect to the pivot point 314, thus resulting in more apparent damages on the optical pickup head 200. Moreover, the over-large contact resistance also will cause the shifting of the cleaning disk 300, thus leading to a bad situation such as signal interruption or the optical disk drive failing to read the signals stored in the cleaning disk 300, resulting in poor cleaning action or cleaning failure.

[0008] In view of the foregoing reasons, the conventional cleaning disk for the optical pickup head has poor applicability.

SUMMARY

[0009] An object of the present invention is to provide an cleaning disk for an optical pickup head of an optical disk drive for greatly reducing the resistance generated while a cleaning action is performed, and actually and briefly cleaning the optical pickup head of the optical disk drive.

[0010] An object of the present invention is to provide a cleaning disk for an optical pickup head of an optical disk drive for better applicability.

[0011] According to the aforementioned objects, an aspect of the present invention is to provide a cleaning disk for an optical pickup head of an optical disk drive, the cleaning disk having a disk body which has the same size with a standard optical disk, the disk body having a central mounting hole, the disk body having a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface; the disk body using at least one two-step hole portion to mount at least one brush bundle; wherein, the two-step hole including an embedded fine hole and an expansion hole concentric with the embedded fine hole, wherein the embedded file hole is formed on the first surface of the disk body, and the expansion hole is formed on the second surface of the disk body; and the brush bundle is formed by clustering a plurality of brushes and has a root portion and an end portion opposite to the root portion, and the root portion is fixed in the embedded fine hole, and the end portion protrudes towards the facing direction of the second surface of the disk body through the expansion hole. When the brush bundle cleans the optical pickup head, the inner edge of the embedded fine hole is used as a pivot point to bend the brush bundle into the expansion hole used as an activity area, thereby making the pivot point farther away from the end portion of the brush bundle for reducing the resistance against the bending of the brush bundles, thus reducing the resistance and wiping damage on the optical pickup head, and reducing the planar shifting amount of the cleaning disk, so that the cleaning disk has fewer erroneous signals and can be read and perform cleaning normally, thereby actually and briefly cleaning the optical pickup head of the optical disk drive.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0022] Reference will now be made in detail to the present preferred embodiments of the invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numbers are used in the drawings and the description to refer to the same or like parts.

[0023] Referring to FIG. 3 to FIG. 5, FIG. 3 is a schematic bottom view showing a cleaning disk for an optical pickup head according to an embodiment of the present invention; FIG. 4 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the cleaning disk; and FIG. 5 is a schematic cross-sectional enlarged view showing a main portion of the cleaning disk.

[0024] As shown in the figures, according an embodiment of the present invention, a cleaning disk 100 for an optical pickup head 200 of an optical disk drive (not shown) has a disk body 110 which has the same size with a standard optical disk. The disk body 110 has a central mounting hole 113 used for being mounted on a rotating disk (not shown) of the optical disk drive. The disk body 110 has a first surface 111 and a second surface 112 opposite to the first surface 111. The first surface 111 is a signal surface of the cleaning disk 100 on which a print surface is disposed, and the second surface 112 is a reading surface of the cleaning disk 100, so that the signals of the cleaning disk can be read from the second surface 112.

[0025] According an embodiment of the present invention, the design of the cleaning disk 100 is emphasized in that the disk body 110 uses at least one two-step hole portion 120 to mount at least one brush bundle 130 of which the number is corresponding to that of the at least one two-step hole portion 120, wherein the two-step hole 120 includes an embedded fine hole 121 and an expansion hole 122 such as a cone-shaped expansion hole concentric with the embedded fine hole 121. The embedded file hole 121 is formed on the first surface 111 of the disk body 110, and the expansion hole 122 is formed on the second surface 112 of the disk body 110, and the diameter of the expansion hole 122 is apparently larger than that of the embedded file hole 121.

[0026] The brush bundle 130 is formed by clustering a plurality of brushes and includes a root portion 131 and an end portion 132 opposite to the root portion 131, wherein the root portion 131 is fixed in the embedded fine hole 121, and the end portion 132 protrudes towards the facing direction of the second surface 112 of the disk body 110 through the expansion hole 122 of the two-step hole portion 120. The expansion hole 122 forms an activity area in which the brush bundle 130 can move freely.

[0027] Referring to FIG. 6 together with FIG. 3 to FIG. 5, FIG. 6 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the cleaning action of the cleaning disk shown in FIG. 5. According to an embodiment, when in operation for cleaning, the cleaning disk 100 is applied in a manner similar to a common optical disk. At first, the cleaning disk 100 is mounted via its central mounting hole 113 on a rotation axis (not shown) of the rotating disk of the optical disk drive. Then, the cleaning disk 100 rotates with the rotating disk, and the optical pickup head 200 of the optical drive moves radially towards the cleaning disk 100. During the rotation of the cleaning disk 100 and the radial movement of the optical pickup head 200, the brush bundle 130 disposed on the cleaning disk 100 touches and cleans the optical pickup head 200.

[0028] As shown in FIG. 6, according to an embodiment of the present invention, when the brush bundle 130 touches the optical pickup head 200 with its end portion 132, i.e. when the optical pickup head 200 passes through the brush bundle 130, the inner edge of the embedded fine hole 121 on the first surface 111 will be used as a pivot point 123 to bend the brush bundle into the expansion hole 122 used as an activity area. Since the pivot point 123 is located farther from the optical pickup head 200, the resistance against the bending of the brush bundle 130 is less, so that the brush bundle 130 has less wiping resistance and damage on the optical pickup head 200, and the cleaning disk has less planar shifting amount and fewer erroneous signals and can be read and perform cleaning normally.

[0029] There are a plurality of brush bundles 310 disposed on the disk body 110, such as three brush bundles 310, wherein the plurality of brush bundles 310 are disposed at intervals and are at different radial distances from the central mounting hole, thereby contacting different portions of the optical pickup head while the cleaning step is performed, thus enabling the cleaning step to be more thorough.

[0030] FIG. 7 is a schematic cross-sectional enlarged view showing a main portion of a cleaning disk for an optical pickup head according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein the expansion hole is formed in a cone shape; and FIG. 8 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the cleaning action of the cleaning disk shown in FIG. 7. It is noted that the cleaning disk structure shown in FIG. 7 and FIG. 8 has the same operation efficacy as that shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6.

[0031] According to the above embodiments of the present invention, the design of two-step hole of the cleaning disk can greatly reduce the resistance which is generated when the brush bundle is performing a cleaning step, so that the wiping damage on the optical pickup head can be reduced and the erroneous action of the cleaning disk can be avoided, and the optical pickup head of the optical drive can be cleaned thoroughly and briefly. Accordingly, the objects of the present invention can be achieved.

[0032] It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made to the structure of the present invention without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention. In view of the foregoing, it is intended that the present invention cover modifications and variations of this invention provided they fall within the scope of the following claims and their equivalents.
