Abstract:

This invention relates to a collapsible laundry basket, more particularly, a silicone (or other like substances) sided laundry basket, which can be collapsed and stored flat, in turn requiring minimal space and achieving greater functionality.

Claims:

1. A collapsible laundry basket, comprising; a) a frame; b) a base; c) a collapsible substance connecting said frame to said base.

2. The laundry basket of claim 1, wherein the frame and base is comprised of resilient steel, resilient polymer, resilient carbon, or other resilient composite material.

3. The laundry basket of claim 2, wherein the frame and base is of a kidney, cylindrical, rectangular, square, or other configuration.

4. The laundry basket of claim 3, wherein said frame can be collapsed in a horizontal fashion over said base.

5. The laundry basket of claim 4, wherein said collapsible substance assumes the area between said frame and said base and forms the surrounding walls.

6. The laundry basket of claim 5, wherein said collapsible substance consists of silicone (or other like substances).

7. The laundry basket of claim 6, wherein said (or other like substances) consists of substances who's properties and characteristics are similar to that of silicone, or of other such polymers.

Description:

SPECIFICATION

[0001] The collapsible laundry basket can be collapsed and subsequently stored in a manner requiring minimal space.

[0002] While traditional laundry baskets are useful, they have a tendency to be cumbersome and sometimes nearly impossible to store. Although their plastic composition makes them lightweight and resistant to humidity, the advent of a collapsible substance would be a definite advantage over their counterparts, which have a tendency to be entirely moulded of plastic. What differentiates this product from other collapsible laundry baskets is the combined use of the traditional plastic laundry basket with the use of silicone (or other like substances). In addition to its simple design, and contrary to Prior Art as referenced below, the absence of a cloth/net/material like substance as the collapsible substance is beneficial in terms of health (humidity, cleanliness, ergonomic advantages), practicality (less cumbersome to carry and easy to store), functionality (easily collapsable), as well as durability. In addition, the nature of silicone (or other like substances) maintains the laundry basket in the expanded position, until such a time as it is manually collapsed. Such practicality eliminates the necessity for moving parts in order to attain greater functionality. Although for very different uses, similar collapsible products comprised of substances likened to those detailed in this application have been designed, manufactured and sold, what appears to be, successfully.

[0003] Not only will the collapsible laundry basket share all of the benefits of traditional plastic laundry baskets, but through its simple design and virtually effortless transformation, it can be stored flat, in turn significantly reducing necessary storage space.
