1. A two-component tack button serving as a front closure of a jeans
article of manufacture comprising:A. as one component a cap in the flat
delimited as a circular head with a concentric array of progressively
larger diameter circles providing a configuration effective to maintain a
circular shape in a horizontal plane;B. at least a first selected fabric
ply of said jeans article of manufacture having an operative position in
surface-to-surface contact with said circular head of said capC. at least
a second selected fabric ply of said jeans article of manufacture in
adjacent relation beneath said first selected fabric ply and having edges
therein bounding a button hole;D. as a cooperating second component to
said first component cap a tack in the flat delimited as a circular base
in facing relation to said cap circular head with said first and second
fabric plies in an interposed position therebetween and a stem extending
from said tack circular base having an operative position disposed
through said button hole effective to hold said first and second fabric
plies in connected relation to each other;E. an operative position of
movement of a free end of said tack from a clearance position into a
position of contact with a surface bounding a compartment within said
cap; andF. a movement-induced expansion in said free end of said tack
within said compartment of an extent contributing to obviating reverse
direction movement of said tack from said compartment;whereby said tack
button serves as a front closure of said jeans article of manufacture
with only two-components constituting the construction thereof.Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of Search
[0001]The relevant prior U.S. patents are Carr U.S. Pat. No. 1,760,835, White U.S. Pat. No. 2,018,104, Daddona, Jr. U.S. Pat. No. 3,320,644, and Fukuroi U.S. Pat. No. 4,512,063, each of which relate to buttons formed with a body, in which is positioned a separately formed die or anchor and a separately formed anvil, the button accordingly being composed of several parts, and thus requiring a considerable number of operations in its makeup and the final assemblage of the various parts in their proper assemblage.
SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0002]Broadly, it is an object of the present invention to significantly simplify the construction and attachment of the tack button in its site serving as a front closure of a jeans article of manufacture.
[0003]More particularly the tack button is comprised of one component constituted as a cap bounding a compartment and a tack undergoing an operative position of movement resulting in a free end of the tack expanding into the cap compartment to hold the tack button in place, all as will be better understood as the description proceeds.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0010]As illustrated in the drawings, the two-component tack button, one component of which is generally designated 10 in FIG. 3 functionally serves as one tack 12, and in FIG. 4, also generally designated 14, that which functionally serves as the button, is embodied in the location of the arrow 2 in the front central location of the waist of a jeans article of manufacture 16 on the plies 18 and 20 above the fly zipper 22, the site on ply 18 noted by the arrow 24 for button 14 and in facing relation to edges 26 bounding a button hole 28 in ply 18.
[0011]As best understood from FIG. 5, in an initial condition of assembly, a cap 30 is appropriately attached, as at 32, to the ply 16 and internally bounds a compartment 34 into which the front end 36 of the tack 12 is projected. Next, as illustrated in FIG. 6, under the force F of an air-operated punch (not shown) the tack 12 is urged in closing movement with the cap 30 causing an expansion of the tack end 36, as noted at 38, which holds the tack 12 in place and obviates the withdrawal of the tack 12 from the cap 30.
[0012]The button end 40 of the tack 12 during use of the jeans 16 is buttoned and unbuttoned in the button hole 28 as needed in the wearing use of the jeans 16.
[0013]To maintain the circular shape of the cap 30 the underside is embodied with concentric circles 42 of progressively increased diameters.
Claims:
1. A two-component tack button serving as a front closure of a jeans
article of manufacture comprising:A. as one component a cap in the flat
delimited as a circular head with a concentric array of progressively
larger diameter circles providing a configuration effective to maintain a
circular shape in a horizontal plane;B. at least a first selected fabric
ply of said jeans article of manufacture having an operative position in
surface-to-surface contact with said circular head of said capC. at least
a second selected fabric ply of said jeans article of manufacture in
adjacent relation beneath said first selected fabric ply and having edges
therein bounding a button hole;D. as a cooperating second component to
said first component cap a tack in the flat delimited as a circular base
in facing relation to said cap circular head with said first and second
fabric plies in an interposed position therebetween and a stem extending
from said tack circular base having an operative position disposed
through said button hole effective to hold said first and second fabric
plies in connected relation to each other;E. an operative position of
movement of a free end of said tack from a clearance position into a
position of contact with a surface bounding a compartment within said
cap; andF. a movement-induced expansion in said free end of said tack
within said compartment of an extent contributing to obviating reverse
direction movement of said tack from said compartment;whereby said tack
button serves as a front closure of said jeans article of manufacture
with only two-components constituting the construction thereof.Description:

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0010]As illustrated in the drawings, the two-component tack button, one component of which is generally designated 10 in FIG. 3 functionally serves as one tack 12, and in FIG. 4, also generally designated 14, that which functionally serves as the button, is embodied in the location of the arrow 2 in the front central location of the waist of a jeans article of manufacture 16 on the plies 18 and 20 above the fly zipper 22, the site on ply 18 noted by the arrow 24 for button 14 and in facing relation to edges 26 bounding a button hole 28 in ply 18.
