Abstract

vides a golf glove holder which can be attached to a golf bag thus the glove may dry freely. The material of the glove holder may be any suitable material which is able to maintain its shape with the weight of the glove and which is able to support humidity. The glove holder may be distributed for a particular event with publicity printed on it. It may also be personalised for an individual or a company.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001]The present patent application claims the benefits of priority of commonly assigned Canadian Patent Application no. 2,604,651, entitled "Glove Holder" and filed at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office on Sep. 28, 2007.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002]The present invention generally relates to gloves holder and more particularly to a golf glove holder which may be attached to a golf bag.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003]When playing certain sports, gloves are worn by the players. During a golf game, the player may want to remove his glove between each time he hits the golf ball. Between the games, the player has to store his glove, generally the glove is placed in the golf bag. However, during a game, the glove has absorbed humidity from the hand. Thus when the glove is placed in the golf bag, it may damage the glove to be in a closed space and give it permanent bad shape because of the humidity.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

[0004]A first object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus to hold a sport glove.

[0005]A second objective of the present invention is to provide a glove holder that is easily attachable to a sport bag.

[0006]A third objective of the present invention is to provide a glove holder that helps to preserve the shape of the glove.

[0007]Other and further objects and advantages of the present invention will be obvious upon an understanding of the illustrative embodiments about to be described or will be indicated in the appended claims, and various advantages not referred to herein will occur to one skilled in the art upon employment of the invention in practice.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008]The aforesaid and other objectives of the present invention are realized by generally providing a golf glove holder adapted to be attached to a golf bag. The golf glove comprises means to adjust the glove closely on the hand of the player. The glove holder is inserted into the golf glove. The holder comprises a body portion, finger portions adjacent to the body portion and a top portion adjacent to the body portion and extending therefrom, the top portion comprising attachment means.

[0009]The glove holder of the present invention comprises a body portion comprising a top portion and a lower portion, the finger portions and a narrower portion, also referred as the retention section. The glove holder may comprise a thumb portion but it is easier to quickly insert the glove holder in the glove when it is provided only with finger portions. The retention section allows the golf glove to be self-supported by the body portion of the glove holder. Indeed, a golf glove usually comprises a fastener or adjustment means to adjust the glove closely on the hand of the player. The same adjustment means is thus used to attach the glove on the glove holder creating an opening of the golf glove which is smaller than the body portion.

[0010]The glove holder comprises attachment means that is fixed on the top portion of the glove holder allowing it to be supported by a golf bag. The attachment means is preferably a press-stud (also referred as a snap) but may be any other means allowing the glove holder to be fixed to a golf bag, such as, for example hook-and-loop parts or Velcro®, a hook, a magnet or a button. Often the cover of a golf bag is fixed with press-studs, thus the glove is accessible during a game and is not in a closed space thus it may dry freely. For the Velcro®, the hook and the button, the golf bag comprises complementary part allowing the glove holder to be removably fixed to the golf bag. For the Velcro®, it would be another part of Velcro®, for the hook and the button it would be a hole and for the magnet there would be another magnet fixed to the golf bag.

[0011]The material of the glove holder may be any suitable material which is able to maintain its shape with the weight of the glove and which is able to support humidity. The glove holder may be made of sheet plastic, plasticized cardboard, a composite comprising a waterproof material, or any other suitable material that may resist to humidity and that may maintain its shape. The glove holder, in its simplest embodiment, is a cut-out made in a bi-dimensional material so the production is very inexpensive. The glove holder may be distributed for a particular event with publicity printed on it. It may also be personalised for an individual or a company, etc. . . .

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0017]A novel glove holder will be described hereinafter. Although the invention is described in terms of specific illustrative embodiment(s), it is to be understood that the embodiment(s) described herein are by way of example only and that the scope of the invention is not intended to be limited thereby.

[0018]FIGS. 1 and 2 show two embodiments having the same characteristics, only the general shape differs to adapt to different shape of glove, more particularly for a man's glove or a woman's glove. The attachment means 105, usually a snap, allows the glove holder to be supported by a golf bag. The shape of the glove holder comprise a top portion 140 and a lower portion 110, the finger portions 120 and a narrower portion 135 created by the inward cut-outs 130, also referred as retention section.

[0019]For other attachment means, they would be located also on the top portion of the glove holder.

[0020]FIG. 3 shows a golf glove 150 held by the glove holder 160. When the adjustment means 155 is closed, the opening of the golf glove 150 is smaller than the body portion 110 and is thus maintained in place. The glove holder may comprise publicity, a logo or a message printed on it for a particular event. The latter is preferably located on the top portion, as shown by the dotted rectangle 165, to be visible even when the glove is on the glove holder.

Claims

1. A holder for a golf glove of the type having a body portion and finger portions said body portion comprising means to adjust said glove to the hand of the wearer, said holder comprising:a. a body portion having a top portion and a lower portion;b. a plurality of fingers portions extending from said lower portion;c. means to attach said top portion to a golf bag.

2. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said body portion also comprise a glove retention section.

3. The glove holder of claim 2, wherein said retention section is more narrow than the rest of the body portion.

4. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said glove holder comprises four finger portions.

5. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said glove holder comprises five finger portions.

6. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said golf glove is retained on said glove holder by said adjustment means.

7. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said attachment means is a press-stud.

8. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said attachment means is a hook-and-loop piece.

9. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said attachment means is a hook.

10. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said attachment means is a button.

11. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said attachment means is a magnet.

12. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said glove holder is made of plasticized cardboard.

13. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said glove holder is made of sheet plastic.

14. The glove holder of claim 1, wherein said glove holder is made of sheet like composite.

15. The glove holder of claim 4, wherein said finger portions comprises external finger portions and central finger portions, wherein said external finger portions have the same dimensions.

16. The glove holder of claim 15, wherein central finger portions have the same dimensions.
