When the bench has an iron top, the hood main body is directly positioned on the bench and magnetically attached thereto via the magnets. When the bench has a non-iron top, the zigzag connector is extended to locate the iron base plate near a workpiece and the hood main body is magnetically attached to the iron base plate. Thus, the chip removing vacuum hood is usable on both of an iron and a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a workpiece.

Claims:

1. A bench-top chip removing vacuum hood, comprising a hood main body, an iron base plate, a zigzag connector, and a C-clamp.

2. The bench-top chip removing vacuum hood as claimed in claim 1, wherein the hood main body is provided at a bottom with a plurality of magnets for magnetically attaching to the iron base plate.

3. The bench-top chip removing vacuum hood as claimed in claim 1, wherein the zigzag connector has a front end screwed to a rear edge of the iron base plate.

4. The bench-top chip removing vacuum hood as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a clamping plate connected to a rear end of the zigzag connector for tightly attaching to an edge of a bench with the C-clamp.

Description:

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001]The present invention relates to a bench-top chip removing vacuum hood, and more particularly to a chip removing vacuum hood that could be used on either an iron bench top or a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a wood workpiece.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002]There are various differently designed vacuum hoods available for use on a bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a wood workpiece. FIGS. 1 and 2 are exploded and assembled perspective views, respectively, of a conventional bench-top chip removing vacuum hood. Generally, such a conventional bench-top chip removing vacuum hood includes a hood main body 1 having a plurality of magnets 2 mounted to a bottom thereof, so that the hood main body 1 is magnetically attached to an iron top of a bench 3 for use. However, when the bench 3 has a non-iron top, the hood main body could not be securely attached to the non-iron bench top via the magnets 2 at all. This would apparently largely limit the applicability of the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003]It is therefore a primary object of the present invention to provide a bench-top chip removing vacuum hood that could be used on either an iron bench top or a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a wood workpiece.

[0004]To achieve the above and other objects, the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention includes a hood main body provided at a bottom with a plurality of magnets, an iron base plate, a zigzag connector having a front end screwed to a rear edge of the iron base plate and a rear end connected to a clamping plate, and a C-clamp for firmly holding the clamping plate to an edge of a bench. When the bench has an iron top, the hood main body is directly positioned on the bench and magnetically attached thereto via the magnets. When the bench has a non-iron top, the zigzag connector is extended to locate the iron base plate near a workpiece and the hood main body is magnetically attached to the iron base plate via the magnets. Thus, the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood is usable on both of an iron and a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a workpiece.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0014]Please refer to FIGS. 3 and 4 that are exploded and assembled perspective views, respectively, of a bench-top chip removing vacuum hood according to the present invention. As shown, the present invention includes a hood main body 1, an iron base plate 4, a zigzag connector 5, and a C-clamp 7 (see FIGS. 5 and 6). A plurality of magnets 2 are mounted to a bottom of the hood main body 1 for magnetically attaching the hood main body 1 to the iron base plate 4. The zigzag connector 5 has a front end screwed to a rear edge of the iron base plate 4, and a rear end connected to a clamping plate 6. The clamping plate 6 may be tightly attached to an edge of a bench 3 (see FIG. 5) using the C-clamp 7.

[0015]When the chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention is used on a bench 3 having an iron top, the hood main body 1 is removed from the iron base plate 4 and directly positioned on the bench 3 for use. At this point, the hood main body 1 is magnetically attached to the iron top of the bench 3 via the plurality of magnets 2. On the other hand, when the chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention is used on a bench 3 having a non-iron top, the hood main body 1 is magnetically attached to a top of the iron base plate 4 for use.

[0016]Please refer to FIG. 5. To use the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention on a bench 3 having a non-iron top, first use the C-clamp 7 to tightly hold the clamping plate 6 to an edge of the bench 3. Then, extend the zigzag connector 5, so that the clamping plate 6 is located near a workpiece (not shown) to be machined, as shown in FIG. 6. Thereafter, magnetically connect the hood main body 1 to the iron base plate 4, as shown in FIG. 7. Then, the hood main body 1 may be connected to a chip collector via a host (not numbered), as shown in FIG. 8.
