By providing the mattress sling, the typical method of bending down to the floor, gripping the bottom of the mattress firmly with one hand, and holding one vertical end of the mattress firmly with the other hand before lifting and moving, is eliminated. By providing the mattress sling, lifting straps on the ends of the sling are located within easier reach of one's grasp effecting a better posture for the carrier persons. By providing the mattress sling, an improvement is made on the current lifting, moving and transporting of bedroom mattress and box spring systems, as implied by mattress manufacturers.

Claims:

1. A mattress sling for the vertical lifting, moving and transporting of bedroom mattresses and box springs.

2. The mattress sling according to claim 1, wherein said sling has four 2'' polypropylene strapping material suitable and adaptable to support the raised weight of bedroom mattresses and box springs.

3. The mattress sling according to claim 2, wherein said sling has a polypropylene lifting strap used collectively with the four supporting straps to providing equal weight distribution when lifting mattresses or box springs.

4. The mattress sling according to claim 3, wherein said sling has a side release buckle, cinch lock and a tri-glide for neatly managing the adjusting and securing of excess strappng.

5. The mattress sling according to claim 1, wherein said mattress sling transfers lifting methods from bending down and transporting in same bended manner, to lifting and transporting in an upright or more correct postured position.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0004]The present invention relates generally to the methods and lifting devices on manufactured mattresses and box springs and, more specifically, to a method and apparatus for lifting, moving and transporting any mattress or box spring system.

[0005]Mattresses and box springs have always been difficult for most persons to lift from a horizontal position to a vertical position and carry or move to another location due in part to the location of the handles as installed per most if not all manufacturers. The present invention makes lifting, carrying or moving, and transporting of mattresses and box springs easier, with less stress and pain to the human body.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006]1. The object of this present invention is to provide an easier method and apparatus for the lifting, moving and transporting of bedroom mattresses and box springs.

[0007]2. The present invention transfers the lifting from the long sides to the short ends on mattresses and box spring units.

[0008]3. The present invention provides for comfortable handling and a more upright posture while lifting, moving and transporting a mattress or a box spring unit.

[0009]4. The present invention lessens strain on the human body as in, but not limited to, bending to lift, bowing to go under door headers or tilting to transport these units up or down stairways.

[0010]5. The present invention will be needed as the population continues to age.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0015]The preferred embodiment of the present invention will be discussed hereinafter in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. According to FIG. 1 four poly-pro light weight support straps1 measuring 2'' wide×38'' long are folded three inches on both ends of each length. The fold is attached to the length of straps1 by nylon threading cross stitched through the bottom 3/4'' length of the folded ends, providing a 2 1/4'' loop on both ends of the straps1 . One 2'' polypropylene light weight lifting strap2 measuring 16' in length is delivered through one loop of each of the four straps1 and then delivered through the opposite ends of straps1 beginning with the fourth looped straps1 and ending with the first looped straps1. One side release buckle assembly3 is attached and stitched in place at one end of strap2 and secured along the opposite end of strap2 with a molded plastic cinch lock and a molded plastic tri-glide which both help to adjust the length and neatly manage strapping slack. PVC grip handles4 measuring 1''OD×6'' in length are used at the ends of the lifting strap2. Hands and fingers have a more comfortable feel to the strap2 as cupping or the compressing of the strap2 and pressure on the hands due to the weight of the lifted object is minimized. FIG. 2 is a general detail showing the folded support straps1. The fold is attached to the length of straps1 by nylon thread cross stitched through the bottom 3/4'' length of the folded ends, providing a 2 1/4'' loop on both ends of the straps1. Strap2 is delivered through these loops. Regardless of the size of the mattress or box springs, the lifing strap2 and support straps1 can easily be adjusted to conform to the size and shape of the mattress or box springs before the lifting strap2 is raised to elevate the object to be moved.

[0016]FIG. 3 is a general detail, showing a typical sturdy plastic side release buckle assembly3 measuring 2'' in width connected to strap2 by nylon thread stitching at one end of strap2 and secured along the opposite end of strap2 with a cinch lock and a tri-glide.

[0017]FIG. 4 is a detail drawing showing the PVC grip handles4 measuring 1''OD×6'' in length used at the ends of the lifting strap2. As strap2 is rolled within the diameter of the grip, position of the grip can be moved or adjusted as the strap2 is adjusted to the size of the mattress or box springs units.
