BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001]1. Field of the Invention
[0002]The present invention relates to a zipper assembly, and more particularly to a wear-proof zipper assembly that has multiple engaging elements and two binding threads binding the engaging elements and hardly wearing so the wear-proof zipper assembly is durable.
[0003]2. Description of Related Art
[0004]Zipper assemblies are used generally on openable articles such as packs, bags and clothes to open or close the articles.
[0005]With reference to FIG. 3, a conventional zipper assembly has a first engaging assembly (80) and a second engaging assembly (90).
[0006]The first engaging assembly (80) has a strip (81), multiple first engaging elements (82), a binding thread (83) and a core element (84). The first engaging elements (82) are annular, are mounted on the strip (81) at intervals and each first engaging element (82) has an annular inner edge and an intermediate convex section. The binding thread (83) is mounted on the strip (81), is located at the convex sections of the first engaging elements (82) and binds the first engaging elements (82) on the strip (81). The core element (84) is longitudinal, is mounted through the first engaging elements (82) and presses against the annular inner edges of the first engaging elements (82) so that the binding thread (83) tightly binds the first engaging elements (82).
[0007]The second engaging assembly (90) is similar to and engages selectively with the first engaging assembly (80) and has a strip (91), multiple second engaging elements (92), a binding thread (93) and a core element (83).
[0008]However, the binding threads (83) located on the intermediate convex sections of the first and second engaging elements (82, 92) easily wear to break and cause the zipper assembly to be disassembled and damaged.
[0009]To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a wear-proof zipper assembly to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0010]The main objective of the invention is to provide a wear-proof zipper assembly that has multiple engaging elements and two binding threads binding the engaging elements and being hardly worn off so the wear-proof zipper assembly is durable.
[0011]A wear-proof zipper assembly in accordance with the present invention comprises two engaging assemblies engaging respectively with each other. Each engaging assembly has a strip, multiple engaging elements, a binding thread and a core element. Each engaging element has an intermediate recess. The binding thread is mounted on the strip, is mounted in the intermediate recesses of the engaging elements and binds the engaging elements on the strip.
[0012]Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0013]FIG. 1 is a top view of a wear-proof zipper assembly in accordance with the present invention;
[0014]FIG. 2 is a cross sectional end view of the wear-proof zipper assembly in FIG. 1; and
[0015]FIG. 3 is a cross sectional end view of a conventional wear-proof zipper assembly in accordance with the prior art.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0016]With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a wear-proof zipper assembly in accordance with the present invention comprises a first engaging assembly (10) and a second engaging assembly (20).
[0017]The first engaging assembly (10) has a strip (11), multiple first engaging elements (12), a binding thread (13) and a core element (14).
[0018]The first engaging elements (12) are annular, are mounted on the strip (11) at intervals and each first engaging element (12) has a top edge (129), an outside end section, an inside end section, an annular inner edge, a through hole (120), an intermediate recess (121) and a bulged section (125). The outside end section has a top. The inside end section has a top. The through hole (120) is defined through the first engaging element (12). The intermediate recess (121) is defined in top edge (129) of the first engaging element (12) between the inside end section and the outside end section and has a bottom surface lower than the tops of the inside and outside end sections. The bulged section (125) is formed on and protrudes from the top of the inside end section and has a top higher than the bottom surface of the intermediate recess (121).
[0019]The binding thread (13) is mounted on the strip (11), is mounted on the bottom surfaces of the intermediate recesses (121) of the first engaging elements (12), is located below the tops of the outside and inside end sections and the bulged sections (125) and binds the first engaging elements (12) on the strip (11).
[0020]The core element (14) may be made of fiber, is longitudinal, is mounted through the through holes (120) in the first engaging elements (12) and presses against the annular inner edges of the first engaging elements (12) so that the binding thread (13) tightly binds the first engaging elements (12).
[0021]The second engaging assembly (20) selectively engages with the first engaging assembly (10) and has a strip (21), multiple second engaging elements (22), a binding thread (23) and a core element (24). The second engaging elements (22) are annular, are mounted on the strip (21) at intervals and selectively engage respectively with the intervals between the first engaging elements (12). Each second engaging element (22) has a top edge (229), an outside end section, an inside end section, an annular inner edge, a through hole (220), an intermediate recess (221) and a bulged section (225). The inside end section has a top. The outside end section has a top. The through hole (220) is defined through the second engaging element (22). The intermediate recess (221) is defined in the top edge (229) of the second engaging element (22) between the inside end section and the outside end section and has a bottom surface lower than the tops of the inside and outside end sections of the second engaging element (22). The bulged section (225) is formed on and protrudes from the top of the inside end section of the second engaging element (22) and has a top higher than the bottom surface of the intermediate recess (221) of the second engaging element (22).
[0022]The binding thread (23) is mounted on the strip (21) of the second engaging assembly (20), is mounted on bottom surfaces of the intermediate recesses (221) of the second engaging elements (22), is located below the tops of the outside and inside end sections and the bulged sections (225) of the second engaging elements (22) and binds the second engaging elements (22) on the strip (21).
[0023]The core element (24) may be made of fiber, is longitudinal, is mounted through the through holes (220) in the second engaging elements (22) and presses against the annular inner edges of the second engaging elements (22) so that the binding thread (23) tightly binds the second engaging elements (22).
[0024]The binding threads (13, 23) in the intermediate recesses (121, 221) of the first and second elements (12, 22) are at a location lower than the tops of the bulged sections (125, 225) and would not rub inadvertently against with other articles contacting the wear-proof zipper assembly. Accordingly, the binding threads (13, 23) hardly wear and the wear-proof zipper assembly is durable. Furthermore, the intermediate recesses (121, 221) position and prevent the binding threads (13, 23) from slipping and keep the wear-proof zipper assembly functioning well.
[0025]Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
