Abstract:
A toolbox 1 with integrated cable reel dispenser including an extendable
frame 2 for mounting pole 3 horizontally on mounts 4 and 5. A cable reel
6 can be positioned on pole 3 to assist in the unwinding/pay-off of cable
from the reel.Claims:
1. A toolbox with integrated cable reel dispenser comprising an
extendable frame, one or more attachment means on the toolbox and the
extendable frame on which a detachable pole can be mounted horizontally
to allow cable reels to rotate during unwinding/pay-off of cable from
their reels.
2. A toolbox with integrated cable reel dispenser according to claim 1, in which two additional frames can be attached to the toolbox and extendable frame to allow a detachable pole to be mounted horizontally at a required height to allow a cable reel(s) to rotate on the pole.
3. A toolbox with integrated cable reel dispensing apparatus, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings
Description:
[0001] This invention relates to a device for assisting in the
unwinding/pay-off of cable from the reel/drum on which they are supplied.
[0002] When cable is being installed, it is common for reels to be situated on a horizontal pole to allow them to rotate freely as required.
[0003] However, the use of conventional dispenser devices can lead to some difficulties. As the cable on the reel is installed the weight of the reel reduces. This can lead to the device becoming unstable and easily toppled. Furthermore, the use of such devices means transporting an extra piece of equipment to and from the work place. To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a toolbox with an integrated cable reel dispenser by means of an extendable frame with one or more attachment means on the toolbox and on the extendable frame for mounting a detachable pole horizontally between the toolbox and the extendable frame. A cable reel or reels can then be placed on the detachable pole to allow them to rotate during unwinding/pay-off of cable from the reel(s).
[0004] The weight from the loaded toolbox provides added stability to the device and as a toolbox is always used on site, there is no requirement to transport an extra piece of equipment around.
[0005] For a larger toolbox the extendable frame will be used as a handle to assist in moving the toolbox on the roller wheels.
[0006] The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
[0007] FIG. 1 shows an isometric 3D view of a larger toolbox.
[0008] FIG. 2 shows a side elevation of a larger toolbox.
[0009] FIG. 3 shows an isometric 3D view of a smaller toolbox.
[0010] FIG. 4 shows a side elevation of a smaller toolbox.
[0011] In FIG. 1 toolbox 1 has an extendable frame 2 which slides in and out of toolbox 1. Horizontal pole 3 is located between toolbox 1 and extendable pole 2 by means of attachment mounting 4 on the toolbox and 5 on the extendable frame. A cable reel 6 can then be placed on the horizontal pole 3 to allow the cable to be unwound/paid-off from the reel.
[0012] In FIG. 3 toolbox 1 has an extendable frame 2 which slides in and out of toolbox 1. Additional frames 4 are attached to the toolbox and extendable frame by means of locating the frames 4 into mountings on the toolbox and frame. These additional frames 4 are to allow pole 3 to be mounted horizontally at the height required to allow the cable reels to rotate.
