20120090654 | TURBIDITY SENSOR AND RELATED CONSUMER APPLIANCE - A sensor for measuring a turbidity of a liquid includes a housing having a first side defining a channel for holding the liquid, the housing also having a second side opposite the first side. A first turbidity sensor has an emitter and a receiver, the emitter and receiver being located on the second side of the housing adjacent the channel so that the liquid can be present between the emitter and the receiver of the first turbidity sensor, the first turbidity sensor outputting a signal. A second turbidity sensor has an emitter and a receiver substantially identical to that of the first turbidity sensor, the emitter and receiver being located on the second side of the housing spaced from the channel so that air and not the liquid is present between the emitter and the receiver of the second turbidity sensor, the second turbidity sensor outputting a signal. The signal from the first turbidity sensor is combinable with the signal from the second turbidity sensor to determine the turbidity of the liquid without determining the temperature of the liquid. Related dishwasher designs are also disclosed. | 04-19-2012 |
20130299616 | OFFSET GARBAGE DISPOSAL - A garbage disposal with an offset is provided. The garbage disposal includes a grinder mounted within a housing. The grinder rotates within the housing to process waste within the garbage disposal. Waste entering the housing is directed away from an axis of rotation of the grinder due to the offset. By directing waste away from the axis of rotation of the grinder, the waste can be more fully processed by the grinder. | 11-14-2013 |
20140124051 | HEAT TRANSFER FOR HEAT PUMP WATER HEATER - A water heater is provided that improves heat transfer between the coils of the heat exchanger of a refrigerant-based heating system and the water in the heater's water tank. Grooves can be added to the exterior of the water tank. The coils of the heat exchanger are positioned within the grooves on the exterior surface of the water tank. Additional features may also be used to further improve heat transfer. Methods for constructing such water heater are also provided. | 05-08-2014 |
20150115079 | WASTE DISPOSAL WITH IMPROVED HOUSING CONFIGURATION - In one aspect, a waste disposal for processing waste may generally include a motor, a cutter plate coupled to the motor for rotation therewith and a housing configured to encase the motor and the cutter plate. The housing may include an upper housing portion and a lower housing portion. The upper housing portion may define an inner surface at least partially forming a converging section of the upper housing portion. Additionally, waste disposal may include a plurality of ribs projecting outwardly from the inner surface along the converging section of the upper housing portion. | 04-30-2015 |
