20120158215 | Programmable Surface - In exemplary embodiments of this invention, a programmable surface comprises an array of cells. Each of the cells can communicate electronically with adjacent cells in the array, can compute, and can generate either normal thrust or shear thrust. Distributed computing is employed. The programmable surface may cover all or part of the exterior of a craft, such as an aircraft or marine vessel. Or, instead, the programmable surface may comprise the craft itself, which may, for example, take the form of a “flying carpet” or “flying sphere”. The thrust generated by the programmable surface can be employed directly to provide lift. Or it can be used to control the orientation of the craft, by varying the relative amount of thrust outputted by the respective cells. The number of cells employed may be changed on a mission-by-mission basis, to achieve “span on demand”. Each cell may carry its own payload. | 06-21-2012 |

When presented with a request for invitational content, the system identifies the set of all possible invitational content for the given context. Based on the user profile, the system removes from the set all invitational content for which the user has completed the associated conversion action to create a user-specific set of invitational content. The system selects an invitational content from the user-specific set of invitational content to include in the content package presented to the user. | 12-01-2011 |
20110295937 | DIGITAL CONTENT BUNDLE - The present technology describes creating and delivering a digital content package in a specified input structure to a content server for processing before distribution to client devices. The technology includes receiving one or more creatives, a targeted application, and a manifest associated with the targeted application within the digital content package. The content server uses the manifest to prepare an archive file containing selected resources related to the targeted application. The archive can be optimistically served to a client device along with one or more creatives for display on the client device and linking to the targeted application. A user selection of one of the one or more creatives can cause execution of the targeted application. Accordingly, the present technology leverages the use of the digital content package created by content providers to process new content and serve it to client devices. | 12-01-2011 |
20110295997 | PRESENTING CONTENT PACKAGES BASED ON AUDIENCE RETARGETING - A present technology intelligently retargets invitational content to a user by maintaining a user profile that includes data descriptive of the user's interaction with invitational content previously presented to the user and making decisions regarding retargeting based on an analysis of the user profile. The information in the user profile is not limited to whether or not the user completed a conversion action associated with invitational content presented. Rather, the profile is expanded to include such information as where on the conversion continuum the user abandoned the process and details of how the invitational content was presented to the user, e.g. colors used, situation, and message. When presented with a request for invitational content, the system uses the profile information to influence which content is selected and how it is presented to the user. This enables the system to re-present invitational content in a form and/or situation where the user is more likely to complete the conversion action. | 12-01-2011 |
20110307385 | CONTENT CONVERSION TRACKING - The present technology allows reliable and accurate tracking of conversions of invitational content by storing token identifying items of invitational content presented to the user within a cookie jar of a local occurrence of an online-store application. When a purchase or download is made from the online store, the cookies are sent to the online store, which can match the purchase or download with the tokens. Thus, conversions can be tracked as they are completed. | 12-15-2011 |
20120041792 | CUSTOMIZABLE POPULATION SEGMENT ASSEMBLY - The presently described technology provides a mechanism for allowing custom targeted segments to be defined by parties outside of a content delivery system. Segments include collections of users grouped together based on common characteristics wherein targeted content is provided to a user based on her assignment to a segment. The present technology allows a content provider, as an example, to define a custom segment, thereby creating a grouping of users suited to receive the content provider's content. In some embodiments, a user interface is provided to the content provider, which includes all available characteristics, and value ranges corresponding to the characteristics. The content provider selects from among the characteristics and values corresponding to the characteristics to create a definition of a custom segment. | 02-16-2012 |
20120041817 | PRIORITIZING POPULATION SEGMENT ASSIGNMENTS TO OPTIMIZE CAMPAIGN GOALS - The present technology prioritizes or ranks segments based on the content provider's or content delivery system's goals or priorities. The content delivery system can monitor its performance in meeting any known goals, and should the content delivery system recognize that its progress towards meeting a goal is not satisfactory, the content delivery system can prioritize some segments over others to meet one or more goals. Since prioritizing a selection of segments can impact other system and content provider goals, the system can also be provided with a performance predictor that can run a series of prediction models to predict the optimum prioritization of segments to result in the best performance of the system. | 02-16-2012 |
20120041969 | DERIVING USER CHARACTERISTICS - The present technology derives unknown user characteristics from known user characteristics. Unknown characteristics can be inferred from products purchased by a user; by comparing two similar users and inputing characteristics known about one user to another user with unknown characteristics; by inferring characteristics using classifying algorithms to infer additional user characteristics from a collection of other known data about a user. The inferred characteristics can further be associated with a confidence score which is an indication of the likelihood that the inferred value is the correct value for a user. | 02-16-2012 |
20120042253 | POPULATION SEGMENTATION - Segments used to select content to be targeted to a user are recursively refined based on continuously derived user characteristics. Based on information gathered from new requests for targeted content and/or user interaction with previously delivered content the user is assigned to one or additional candidate segments. The candidate segments can be used to select content to be delivered to the user based on the user's assignment to the targeted segments. Accordingly, each user is grouped into one or more targeted segments and based on the user's inclusion in those segments, requests for targeted content can be served to the user. | 02-16-2012 |
20120042262 | POPULATION SEGMENTATION BASED ON BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS - The present technology analyzes a user's behavior to assign a user to targeted segments. The segments to which the user is assigned can be a reflection of a user's context with respect to potential targeted content. While a user can be assigned to many different segments, the user is likely to be most interested in content that she is presently interested in. Accordingly, the system can also prioritize or rank or order segments based on the user's present context. Content is then provided to the user on the basis of the segments to which the user belongs and the priority of segments. | 02-16-2012 |

20120063451 | SHARED VIRTUAL TUNNELS SUPPORTING MAC LEARNING IN COMMUNICATION NETWORKS - Embodiments herein include systems and methods for providing a mechanism for tunneled data transport within a dual homed access network. A tunnel manager, at a first network connectivity device in a transport network, identifies the transport network configured to interconnect at least two access networks for transporting data traffic between one or more end stations connected to the access networks. The first network connectivity device is coupled to a first access network. The tunnel manager identifies a second network connectivity device. The second network connectivity device is coupled to the first access network to provide the first access network dual homed access to the transport network via the first and second network connectivity devices. The tunnel manager creates a virtual tunnel that connects the first and second network connectivity devices to a third network connectivity device across the transport network. The virtual tunnel defines a same virtual tunnel having multiple paths such that the third network connectivity device learns a single virtual tunnel for device address learning. | 03-15-2012 |
20120063465 | ACCESS NETWORK DUAL PATH CONNECTIVITY - A transport network employs dual homing to an access network to provide connectivity from multiple network switches. Dual homing is a mechanism by which an access network employs pair of switches in the transport network as if it were connecting to a single device. Conventional arrangements for defining multiple paths from a transport network to an access network suffer from the shortcomings of potential routing loops, increased hops to the access network, and inability or inconsistency with forwarding to different types of access networks, and may involve redirecting traffic absent faults in the access network. The dual homed network switches identify the type of access network and perform switching logic corresponding to the access network type to provide comprehensive dual-homed support to the access network independently of the type of transport employed in the access network, and employ redirection only if there is a fault in the access network. | 03-15-2012 |

20110261857 | METHOD FOR EVALUATING THE SOLUBILITY OF A CRYSTALLINE SUBSTANCE IN A POLYMER - A viable strategy to enhance the bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs is to use amorphous solids in place of the more commonly used crystalline solids in pharmaceutical formulations. However, amorphous solids are physically meta-stable and tend to revert back to their crystalline counterpart. An effective approach to stabilizing an amorphous drug against crystallization is to disperse it in a polymer matrix. The drug's solubility in the chosen polymer defines the upper limit of drug loading without any risk of crystallization. Measuring the solubility of a drug in a polymer has been a scientific and technological challenge because the high viscosity of polymers makes achieving solubility equilibrium difficult and because pharmaceutically important drug/polymer dispersions are glasses, which undergo structural relaxation over time. The invention provides a method based on Differential Scanning calorimetry (DSC) for measuring the solubility of crystalline drugs in polymeric matrices. The method relies on the detection of the dissolution endpoint of a drug/polymer mixture prepared by cryomilling. | 10-27-2011 |
