20100314804METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SEMICONDUCTOR RIBBONS FROM A GASEOUS FEEDSTOCK - The present invention provides a method for the production of semiconductor ribbons using exclusively a gaseous feedstock. A fine powder of semiconductor material is produced by decomposition, within the gas phase, of a gaseous feedstock. A layer of this semiconductor powder is uniformly distributed, compressed and flattened over a planar substrate, which is continuously moving in one direction. This said layer of semiconductor powder is, in the following stage, heated to a temperature sufficient to decompose the said gaseous feedstock on its surface. A continuous flow of the said gaseous feedstock over said powder layer is ensured so that a solid plate of semiconductor material grows over the said layer of semiconductor powder. After the growth stage, during which the solid plate has grown to a convenient thickness, the said solid plate of semiconductor material is separated from the said layer of semiconductor powder and substrate. This self supporting plate is then heated to a high temperature in an atmosphere containing gaseous feedstock to complete its growth and become a ribbon with the appropriate structural properties for further processing. The present invention is applicable, for example, in the industry of silicon ribbon production for photovoltaic application.12-16-2010

A perforating string can include a shock de-coupler interconnected longitudinally between components of the perforating string, with the shock de-coupler variably resisting displacement of one component away from a predetermined position relative to the other component in each longitudinal direction, and in which a compliance of the shock de-coupler substantially decreases in response to displacement of the first component a predetermined distance away from the predetermined position relative to the second component.10-11-2012
20130153295COUPLER COMPLIANCE TUNING FOR MITIGATING SHOCK PRODUCED BY WELL PERFORATING - A method of mitigating perforating effects produced by well perforating can include causing a shock model to predict perforating effects for a proposed perforating string, optimizing a compliance curve of at least one proposed coupler, thereby mitigating the perforating effects for the proposed perforating string, and providing at least one actual coupler having substantially the same compliance curve as the proposed coupler. A well system can comprise a perforating string including at least one perforating gun and multiple couplers, each of the couplers having a compliance curve, and at least two of the compliance curves being different from each other. A method of mitigating perforating effects produced by well perforating can include interconnecting multiple couplers spaced apart in a perforating string, each of the couplers having a compliance curve, and selecting the compliance curves based on predictions by a shock model of shock generated by the perforating string.06-20-2013

20120326933APPARATUS FOR MEASURING THE STRENGTH OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD - There is disclosed an apparatus for measuring the strength of an electromagnetic field. The apparatus comprises a plurality of antennas arranged such that the field is received from all directions, each antenna supplying an RF signal as output. The apparatus also comprises a plurality of transforming modules, each of said modules being fed with the RF signal supplied by one of the antennas, each of said modules transforming the impedance of the RF signal it receives as input, so as to supply another RF signal as output. The apparatus also comprises a plurality of converting modules, each of said modules being fed with the RF signal supplied by one of the transforming modules, each of said modules converting the RF signal it receives as input into a DC current it supplies as output, said DC current varying substantially as a logarithmic function of the said RF signal.12-27-2012
