20140334126 | LIGHT-EMITTING DEVICE WITH TOTAL INTERNAL REFLECTION (TIR) EXTRACTOR - A variety of light-emitting devices are disclosed that are configured to output light provided by a light source. In general, embodiments of the light-emitting devices feature a light source and an extractor element coupled to the light source, where the extractor element includes, at least in part, a total internal reflection (TIR) surface. Luminaires incorporating light-emitting devices of this type are also disclosed. | 11-13-2014 |
20150219820 | Light-Emitting Device with Remote Scattering Element and Total Internal Reflection Extractor Element - A variety of light-emitting devices are disclosed that are configured to output light provided by a light-emitting element (LEE). In general, embodiments of the light-emitting devices feature a light-emitting element, a scattering element that is spaced apart from the light-emitting element and an extractor element coupled to the scattering element, where the extractor element includes, at least in part, a total internal reflection surface. Luminaires incorporating light-emitting devices of this type are also disclosed. | 08-06-2015 |
20150241024 | Solid State Illumination Devices Including Spatially-Extended Light Sources and Reflectors - A luminaire module delivers light with a beam angle of α. The luminaire module includes a light emitting module and a reflector positioned symmetrically about an axis. Light produced by the light emitting module exits the light emitting module from one or more spatially-extended light emitting portions. The light emitting portion(s) is (are) fully contained within a spatially extended notional design envelope which is used to guide the design of reflector and its corresponding reflective surface, such that when any light exiting the light emitting portions through the design envelope strikes the reflective surface of the reflector, the light does not return to the source and escapes from the luminaire module within a beam angle α, with no more than a single reflection from a reflector. | 08-27-2015 |
20150241029 | Light-Emitting Devices with Reflective Elements - A variety of light-emitting devices are disclosed that are configured to output light provided by a light-emitting element (LEE). In general, embodiments of the light-emitting devices feature two or more light-emitting elements, a scattering element that is spaced apart from the light-emitting elements, an extractor element coupled to the scattering element, and a reflective element that is configured and arranged to reflect light emitted from the light-emitting elements. | 08-27-2015 |

20100035314 | METHOD FOR THE ENZYMATIC PRODUCTION OF 2-HYDROXY-2-METHYL CARBOXYLIC ACIDS - The present invention relates to a method for the enzymatic production of 2-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxylic acids from 3-hydroxy carboxylic acids, where a 3-hydroxy carboxylic acid is produced in an aqueous reaction solution and/or is added to this reaction solution and is incubated. The aqueous reaction solution comprises a unit having 3-hydroxy-carboxylate-CoA mutase activity which has both 3-hydroxy-carbonyl-CoA ester-producing and 3-hydroxy-carbonyl-CoA ester-isomerizing activity and converts the 3-hydroxy carboxylic acid into the corresponding 2-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxylic acid which is isolated as acid or in the form of its salts. In a preferred embodiment, the unit having 3-hydroxy-carboxylate-CoA mutase activity is a unit which includes an isolated cobalamin-dependent mutase and where appropriate a 3-hydroxy-carbonyl-CoA ester-producing enzyme or enzyme system or a microorganism including them. The invention preferably relates to a biotechnological process for producing 2-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxylic acids, where microorganisms which have the desired activities are cultured in an aqueous system with the aid of simple natural products and convert intracellularly formed 3-hydroxy-carbonyl-CoA esters into the corresponding 2-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxylic acids. The invention likewise encompasses the production of unsaturated 2-methyl carboxylic acids, where the 2-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxylic acids obtained are converted by dehydration into the corresponding unsaturated 2-methyl carboxylic acids (methacrylic acid and higher homologues). | 02-11-2010 |
20110165640 | METHOD FOR THE ENZYMATIC PRODUCTION OF 2-HYDROXY-2-METHYL CARBOXYLIC ACIDS - Provided is a composition containing: an isolated and purified polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4; and/or a heterodimeric enzyme containing: the isolated and purified polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4; and an isolated and purified polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2. Also provided is a process for producing a 2-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxylic acid or a salt or ester thereof, wherein the process involves: contacting a 3-hydroxy carboxylic acid or a salt or ester thereof with the above-mentioned composition to produce the 2-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxylic acid or the salt or ester thereof. | 07-07-2011 |
20150267231 | BIOTECHNOLOGICAL 2-HYDROXYISOBUTYRIC ACID PRODUCTION - The present invention relates to a knallgas bacterium or acetogenic bacterium expressing a 2-hydroxyisobutyryl-coenzyme A mutase, a method for the production of 2-hydroxyisobutyric acid, comprising contacting in an aqueous medium the knallgas bacterium or acetogenic with a gas mixture comprising hydrogen and carbon dioxide and the use of the knallgas bacterium or acetogenic bacterium for the production of 2-hydroxyisobutyric acid. | 09-24-2015 |
