20090291023 | Chemistry for Effective Microbe Control with Reduced Gas Phase Corrosiveness in Pulp & Paper Processing Systems - Processes for biofilm or microorganism growth control in an aqueous system such as a pulp, paper or board manufacturing system are described in which a halogenated hydantoin is added to the aqueous system in combination with haloamine, chlorine dioxide or a combination thereof. The halogenated hydantoin is preferably a fully or partially halogenated dialkyl hydantoin, and more preferably 5,5-dimethyl hydantoin or 5-methyl-5-ethyl hydantoin. The haloamine is preferably a monohaloamine, dihaloamine, trihaloamine, or a combination thereof, and more preferably monochloramine, monobromamine, bromochloroamine or a combination thereof. The halogenated hydantoin is preferably added to the aqueous system in portions of the system susceptible to gas phase corrosion, such as the short loop of the system, and the haloamine and chlorine dioxide are preferably added to other portions of the system. The halogenated hydantoin and haloamine and/or chlorine dioxide maintain good compatibility with each other in the absence of excess free chlorine. | 11-26-2009 |
20090294082 | PREVENTION OF BACTERIAL SPORE FORMATION IN A BROKE SYSTEM OF A BOARD MACHINE - The invention relates to a method for preventing or delaying bacterial sporulation in the broke system of a board or paper machine by lowering the content of transition metals in the broke to a level unfavorable for sporulation. Preferably bacterial cells present in the broke system of the board or paper machine are not substantially killed by the procedure used for lowering the content of the transition metals. The invention further relates to a method for producing packaging board or packaging paper having a low bacterial spore content. | 12-03-2009 |
20100267791 | Method for Preventing Growth of Microorganisms, and a Combination for the Prevention of Microbial Growth - According to the invention, a method for the prevention of microbial growth in process waters is provided, wherein first a peracid compound, and thereafter a halogenated dialkyl hydantoin are dosed into said process water. Further, according to the invention, a combination for the prevention of microbial growth is provided, said combination comprising compounds to be dosed separately, said compounds being a peracid compound to be dosed first, and a halogenated dialkyl hydantoin to be dosed after the peracid compound, the weight ratio of the peracid compound to the halogenated dialkyl hydantoin being at least 2:1, wherein the amount of the peracid compound is calculated as active agent, while the amount of halogenated dialkyl hydantoin is calculated as active chlorine. | 10-21-2010 |
20130164814 | CONTROL OF ENZYMES IN THE PRODUCTION OF PULP - A method and use therein for inactivating hydrogen peroxide decomposing enzymes in the production of recycled fiber pulp and/or mechanical pulp comprising providing solid peroxygen to an aqueous process for fiber production. | 06-27-2013 |
20130190214 | BIOCIDAL SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE - Methods of treating a gas field fluid or oil field fluid is provided, the method comprising: a) adding glutaraldehyde to the gas field fluid or oil field fluid in an amount effective to reduce or inhibit microbial activity; and b) after a delay, adding 3,5-dimethyl-1,3,5-thiadiazinane-2-thione to the gas field fluid or oil field fluid. | 07-25-2013 |
20140242191 | Prevention of Starch Degradation in Pulp, Paper or Board Making Processes - The invention relates to biocidal systems comprising zinc ions and an oxidizing or non-oxidizing biocide, their use, and methods for preventing or decreasing starch degradation in starch-containing process waters from pulp, paper or board production processes. | 08-28-2014 |
20140367334 | METHOD FOR PREVENTING MICROBIAL GROWTH ON FILTRATION MEMBRANE - The present invention relates to a method for preventing microbial growth on a filtration membrane during desalination process. The method comprises that the membrane is exposed to a low concentration of performic acid by continuously or intermittently introducing performic acid to the membrane surface. When performic acid is added according to the present invention to the water flow, there is no significant reduction in the water flux through the membrane. | 12-18-2014 |
20150034566 | Water Treatment - The present invention relates to a process for reduction of the presence of microorganisms and/or decomposition of organic micropollutants in water using an energy source and an additive characterised in that the energy source is UV radiation and the additive comprises performic acid. | 02-05-2015 |
20150041092 | METHOD FOR MAKING OF PAPER, TISSUE, BOARD OR THE LIKE - The invention relates to a method for making of paper, tissue, board or the like by using recycled fibre material as a raw material. The method comprises following steps: pulping recycled paper, board or the like in a pulper and obtaining a pulp flow comprising (i) an aqueous phase and (ii) at least recycled fibres and starch having low molecular weight, which are dispersed in the aqueous phase; adding a coagulant agent to the pulp flow or to an aqueous process flow comprising starch having low molecular weight; allowing the coagulant agent to interact with the starch having low molecular weight and optionally forming aggregates; and adding at least one flocculating agent, after the addition of the coagulant agent, to any flow, which comprises interacted coagulant agent, and forming a treated flow with starch comprising agglomerate(s); retaining at least part of the said aggregates and/or the said agglomerates to the fibres or to a web, which is formed. | 02-12-2015 |
