20100155513 | BALE BREAKER APPARATUS AND METHOD - An auxiliary powerfeed is disclosed, which is designed to work in conjunction with other feeding devices found on a horizontal grinder, which typically include a horizontal feed conveyor and a powerfeed drum. The auxiliary powerfeed features a rotating drum on which are mounted rigid tines (or teeth) arranged in a staggered pattern. The drum is rotationally mounted within a pivotally mounted lift arm. The lift arm holds the axial shaft of the drum at each end. A set of hydraulic cylinders is mounted to the lift arm, one on each end of the drum. During operation, as a bale or other object comes into contact with the auxiliary powerfeed, the drum automatically lifts until it reaches the top of the object, the limit of its lift path, or a predetermined height that optimizes efficacy for a particular application. In some cases, the auxiliary powerfeed automatically operates differently with different feedstock consistencies. In other cases, the auxiliary powerfeed is set to operate on a predetermined sequence based on feedstock consistency. | 06-24-2010 |

20140374517 | SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING AND TREATING AN AGRICULTURAL BYPRODUCT - An apparatus is configured to apply a treatment agent to an agricultural byproduct. The apparatus includes a fragmenting chamber where the agricultural byproduct is fragmented into particles. An initial amount of a treatment agent is applied to the byproduct in the fragmenting chamber. Particles of a desired size flow through a screen from the fragmenting chamber to a recovery zone. A second amount of the treatment agent is applied to the particles in the recovery zone. A regulator regulates the amount of the treatment agent applied to the particles in the fragmenting chamber and the amount of treatment agent applied in the in the recovery zone. The regulation may be based on one or more feedback mechanisms. | 12-25-2014 |

20150372562 | MECHANICAL MOTOR SOFT START AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS RELATING THERETO - A system of providing a mechanical soft start of a load driven by an electrical motor is provided. The system includes, in addition to the rotor driven by the electric motor during normal operation, a drive belt coupled to both the electric motor and the rotor for communicating mechanical power from the electric motor to the rotor. The system further includes a secondary motor, and a primary roller coupled to the secondary motor, wherein the roller is selectively engaged with the drive belt during a mechanical soft-start to communicate mechanical power from the secondary motor to the rotor without requiring mechanical power from primary motor. | 12-24-2015 |

20090108110 | DEVICE AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING GRINDING EFFICACY IN GRAVITY-FED GRINDING MACHINES - The present invention regulates the delivery of feedstock to the fragmentation zone in a gravity-fed comminuting machine and reduces the ejection of feed materials by means of a rotating cylinder located at an offset position above the rotor. Rotationally mounted on an axis parallel to and above, but offset from, the axis of the rotor, this cylinder serves primarily as a striking surface, or anvil. The continual rotation of the anvil, in the opposite rotational direction as the rotor and with much slower rotational speed, assists in agitating the feed material, alleviating the problems of feed chute obstructions and feed aggregation. The cylinder forces the feed materials into contact with the rotor teeth through continuous rotation and provides a novel tooth design to improve efficacy and reduce wear. | 04-30-2009 |
