20090064329 | Zero-hour quarantine of suspect electronic messages - The zero-hour quarantine comprises a tool for flagging potentially harmful messages/files prior to having an anti-virus signature published for a particular virus. The suspect file is sent to the zero-hour quarantine and periodically scanned, giving time for creation of a signature file that would then detect the virus. An example method may include receiving and examining a message for attributes indicative of its undesirability, and assigning a threat score to the message. The method may comprise disposing of the message by comparing the threat score to first and second thresholds, and the message sent to a permanent quarantine if the threat score passes the first threshold. The message is sent to the zero-hour quarantine if the assigned threat score does not pass the second threshold but passes the second threshold, or is delivered to the recipient if the assigned threat score does not pass the first or second threshold. | 03-05-2009 |

20160128558 | OPTICAL COHERENCE ELASTOGRAPHY TO ASSESS BIOMECHANICS AND DETECT PROGRESSION OF OCULAR AND OTHER TISSUES DEGENERATIVE DISEASES - An excitation force (internal or external) and phase-sensitive optical coherence elastography (OCE) system, used in conjunction with a data analyzing algorithm, is capable of measuring and quantifying biomechanical parameters of tissues in situ and in vivo. The method was approbated and demonstrated on an example of the system that combines a pulsed ultrasound system capable of producing an acoustic radiation force on the crystalline lens surface and a phase-sensitive optical coherence tomography (OCT) system for measuring the lens displacement caused by the acoustic radiation force. The method allows noninvasive and nondestructive quantification of tissue mechanical properties. The noninvasive measurement method also utilizes phase-stabilized swept source optical coherence elastography (PhS-SSOCE) to distinguish between tissue stiffness, such as that attributable to disease, and effects on measured stiffness that result from external factors, such as pressure applied to the tissue. Preferably, the method is used to detect tissue stiffness and to evaluate the presence of its stiffness even if it is affected by other factors such as intraocular pressure (IOP) in the case of cornea, sclera, or the lens. This noninvasive method can evaluate the biomechanical properties of the tissues in vivo for detecting the onset and progression of degenerative or other diseases (such as keratoconus). | 05-12-2016 |

20120284461 | Methods and Apparatus for Storage and Translation of Entropy Encoded Software Embedded within a Memory Hierarchy - A system for translating compressed instructions to instructions in an executable format is described. A translation unit is configured to decompress compressed instructions into a native instruction format using X and Y indices accessed from a memory, a translation memory, and a program specified mix mask. A level 1 cache is configured to store the native instruction format for each compressed instruction. The memory may be configured as a paged instruction cache to store pages of compressed instructions intermixed with pages of uncompressed instructions. Methods of determining a mix mask for efficiently translating compressed instructions is also described. A genetic method uses pairs of mix masks as genes from a seed population of mix masks that are bred and may be mutated to produce pairs of offspring mix masks to update the seed population. A mix mask for efficiently translating compressed instructions is determined from the updated seed population. | 11-08-2012 |
20130031337 | Methods and Apparatus for Storage and Translation of an Entropy Encoded Instruction Sequence to Executable Form - A method of compressing a sequence of program instructions begins by examining a program instruction stream to identify a sequence of two or more instructions that meet a parameter. The identified sequence of two or more instructions is replaced by a selected type of layout instruction which is then compressed. A method of decompressing accesses an X-index and a Y-index together as a compressed value. The compressed value is decompressed to a selected type of layout instruction which is decoded and replaced with a sequence of two or more instructions. An apparatus for decompressing includes a storage subsystem configured for storing compressed instructions, wherein a compressed instruction comprises an X-index and a Y-index. A decompressor is configured for translating an X-index and Y-index accessed from the storage subsystem to a selected type of layout instruction which is decoded and replaced with a sequence of two or more instructions. | 01-31-2013 |
20140082330 | ENHANCED INSTRUCTION SCHEDULING DURING COMPILATION OF HIGH LEVEL SOURCE CODE FOR IMPROVED EXECUTABLE CODE - Systems and methods for static code scheduling are disclosed. A method can include receiving an intermediate representation of source code, building a directed acyclic graph (DAG) for the intermediate representation, and creating chains of dependent instructions from the DAG for cluster formation. The chains are merged into clusters and each node in the DAG is marked with an identifier of a cluster it is part of to generate a marked instruction DAG. Instruction DAG scheduling is then performed using information about the clusters to generate an ordered intermediate representation of the source code. | 03-20-2014 |

20110083001 | METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATED GENERATION OF ABBREVIATED INSTRUCTION SET AND CONFIGURABLE PROCESSOR ARCHITECTURE - A systematic approach to architecture and design of the instruction fetch mechanisms and instruction set architectures in embedded processors is described. This systematic approach allows a relaxing of certain restrictions normally imposed by a fixed-size instruction set architecture (ISA) on design and development of an embedded system. The approach also guarantees highly efficient usage of the available instruction storage which is only bounded by the actual information contents of an application or its entropy. The result of this efficiency increase is a general reduction of the storage requirements, or a compression, of the instruction segment of the original application. An additional feature of this system is the full decoupling of the ISA from the core architecture. This decoupling allows usage of a variable length encoding for any size of the ISA without impacting the physical instruction memory organization or layout and branching mechanism as well as tuning of the execution core to the application. A hardware embodiment described herein allows application of the above mentioned high-entropy encoding technique in actual embedded processor using today's technology without posing significant strain on timing requirements. | 04-07-2011 |
