20110244239 | CERAMIC BEADS WITH SMOOTH SURFACES AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME - A subject for the invention is to provide a process for ceramic bead production in which ceramic beads with smooth surfaces are obtained by a simpler method without using a complicated process involving, for example, a DC plasma/radio-frequency plasma combination or a two-stage radio-frequency plasma. Another subject is to provide such ceramic beads. The invention relates to a technique in which a preheated raw ceramic material is introduced into a laminar-flow thermal plasma obtained using a high-voltage type direct-current (DC) plasma gun and is cooled and solidified and the resultant ceramic beads are collected. It is preferred that the raw ceramic material should be preheated by passing the raw material through a refractory tube which runs through a furnace, while sending the raw ceramic material with a carrier gas, and that the preheated raw-material powder should be introduced into and treated with the thermal plasma under such conditions that the resultant ceramic beads are discharged from the thermal plasma at a discharge angle of 60° or larger with the thermal plasma. Thus, satisfactory ceramic beads which have smooth surfaces and have few crack defects and few internal void defects are obtained. | 10-06-2011 |

20100143311 | ANTICANCER THERAPY BY TRANSPLANTING VASCULAR ENDOTHELIAL PROGENITOR CELLS - It is intended to provide anticancer therapy using autologous cells or the like, which induces the regression of cancer or has favorable drug delivery effects and brings about reduction or withdrawal of a hypoxic region(s) in tumor. Transplantation of endothelial progenitor cells, via intravenously or other methods leads to tumor growth inhibition, an increase of the vascular density with an enlargement of the vascular diameter, and reduction of a hypoxic region(s) in the tumor. Allogeneic transplantation of endothelial progenitor cells may be achieved to secure the cells for the therapy, however, autologous transplantation of endothelial progenitor cells from cancer patients would be desirable in order to evade rejection. When the autologous cells are used, mononuclear cells are separated from the peripheral blood or bone marrow of the patient and cultured using an endothelial differentiation medium containing cytokines such as VEGF to obtain adherent cells, which can then be collected and advantageously used as endothelial progenitor cells. | 06-10-2010 |
20120100610 | REVASCULARIZATION CELLS DERIVED FROM MONONUCLEAR CELLS, AND METHOD OF INDUCING DIFFERENTIATION THEREOF - The present invention relates to a method of safely and simply inducing differentiation of mononuclear cells into cells that promote neovascular stabilization and maturation, and lead to recovering from ischemia or tissue repair. The cells according to the present invention are obtained by inducing differentiation of a mononuclear cell by culturing the mononuclear cell in a medium (particularly a serum-free medium) containing one or more selected from vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), thrombopoietin (TPO), granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) and FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (FLT3L), and collecting a cell population expressing CD11 | 04-26-2012 |
