20090136583 | Sol-Gel phase-reversible hydrogel templates and uses thereof - Discrete microstructures of predefined size and shape are prepared using sol-gel phase-reversible hydrogel templates. An aqueous solution of hydrogel-forming material is covered onto a microfabricated silicon wafer master template having predefined microfeatures, such as pillars. A hydrogel template is formed, usually by lowering the temperature, and the formed hydrogel template is peeled away from the silicon master template. The wells of predefined size and shape on the hydrogel template are filled with a solution or a paste of a water-insoluble polymer, and the solvent is removed to form solid structures. The formed microstructures are released from the hydrogel template by simply melting the hydrogel template in water. The microstructures are collected by centrifugation. The microstructures fabricated by this method exhibit pre-defined size and shape that exactly correspond to the microwells of the hydrogel template. The method of preparing microstructures based on hydrogel templates is simple and can easily produce large quantities of the microstructures. | 05-28-2009 |

The method includes the step of placing an expandable medical device on a mandrel, the medical device forming a cylindrical device having a plurality of openings and dispensing a beneficial agent into the plurality of openings. | 01-27-2011 |
20110020298 | COLLAGEN-BINDING SYNTHETIC PEPTIDOGLYCANS, PREPARATION, AND METHODS OF USE - This invention relates to collagen-binding synthetic peptidoglycans and engineered collagen matrices comprising a collagen matrix and a collagen-binding synthetic peptidoglycan where the collagen-binding synthetic peptidoglycan can be aberrant or can have amino acid homology with a portion of the amino acid sequence of a protein or a proteoglycan that regulates collagen fibrillogenesis. The invention also relates to kits, compounds, compositions, and engineered graft constructs comprising such collagen-binding synthetic peptidoglycans or engineered collagen matrices and methods for their preparation and use. | 01-27-2011 |
20110039280 | HYBRID MICROFLUIDIC SPR AND MOLECULAR IMAGING DEVICE - A hybrid microfluidic biochip designed to perform multiplexed detection of singled- celled pathogens using a combination of SPR and epi-fluorescence imaging. The device comprises an array of gold spots, each functionalized with a capture biomolecule targeting a specific pathogen. This biosensor array is enclosed by a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microfluidic flow chamber that delivers a magnetically concentrated sample to be tested. The sample is imaged by surface plasmon resonance on the bottom of the biochip, and epi- fluorescence on the top. | 02-17-2011 |
20110189255 | DRUG-ELUTING STENTS FOR ADENOSINE RECEPTOR MODULATION - Drug eluting stents (DES) useful for the treatment of restenosis are described. The stents comprise biocompatible polymers and adenosine receptor modulators. | 08-04-2011 |
20130127089 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR LOADING A BENEFICIAL AGENT INTO AN EXPANDABLE MEDICAL DEVICE - The present invention relates to method for loading a beneficial agent into an expandable medical device. The method includes the steps of sealing a plurality of openings extending through the medical device from a first side to a second side with a sealing member to substantially prevent a beneficial agent from passing through the openings, partially filling the openings with the beneficial agent delivered from an automated micro-jetting dispenser, substantially solidifying the beneficial agent, and removing the sealing member from the plurality of openings. | 05-23-2013 |
20130190246 | COLLAGEN-BINDING SYNTHETIC PEPTIDOGLYCANS FOR USE IN VASCULAR INTERVENTION - This invention relates to collagen-binding synthetic peptidoglycans. More particularly, this invention relates to collagen-binding synthetic peptidoglycans for use in vascular intervention procedures. The invention also relates to kits comprising such collagen-binding synthetic peptidoglycans and catheters or stents. | 07-25-2013 |
20130209663 | IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICE WITH BENEFICIAL AGENT CONCENTRATION GRADIENT - The implantable medical devices are configured to release at least one therapeutic agent from a matrix affixed to the implantable body with a release profile which is programmable to the agent and treatment. The matrix is formed such that the concentration of the therapeutic agent in the matrix varies as a gradient relative to a surface of the implantable body. The change in the concentration gradient of the agent in the matrix directly controls the rate of elution of the agent from the matrix. The therapeutic agent matrix can be disposed in the stent or on surfaces of the stent in various configurations, including within volumes defined by the stent, such as openings, holes, or concave surfaces, as a reservoir of agent, and alternatively as a coating on all or a portion of the surfaces of the stent structure. | 08-15-2013 |
20130295601 | Systems and Methods for Testing Drugs and Drug Delivery Systems - A system is provided that simulates the in vivo micro-environment of three-dimensional cellular structures or bodies, such as tumors. The system simulates the pressure gradients and fluid flows of the vascular and lymphatic systems as well as the interstitial and capillary transport mechanisms between the 3D cellular structure and the vascular and lymphatic systems. The system can be used to introduce drugs or drug delivery carriers to a tumor, for example, to assess the uptake capability and effect on the tumor. The system maintains the viability of the tumor cells for a sufficiently long period of time to permit testing of several different drugs and/or delivery carriers. | 11-07-2013 |
