20120183982 | NON-INVASIVE DIAGNOSTIC METHOD FOR THE EVALUATION OF INTESTINAL LACTASE DEFICIENCY (HYPOLACTASIA) - The test of the invention comprises the measuring the total amount of xylose in urine and/or its concentration in blood following oral administration of 4-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-D-xylose (4-GX) to the patient. It is a non-invasive test that is based on the direct evaluation of the global enzyme activity in the whole individual, not on measuring the metabolic consequences derived from its deficiency. It does not require specialised equipment, does not cause apparent discomfort in patients with lactase deficiency and is very reliable, thus overcoming the drawbacks of the diagnostic tests currently in use and is a statistically significantly better test in terms of its reliability; consequently it should become the reference or gold standard test for the indication of hypolactasia. | 07-19-2012 |

20110130303 | IN VITRO DIAGNOSIS/PROGNOSIS METHOD AND KIT FOR ASSESSMENT OF TOLERANCE IN LIVER TRANSPLANTATION - In vitro diagnosis/prognosis method and kit, for assessment of tolerance in liver transplantation. The present invention refers to the study of peripheral blood transcriptional patterns from 80 liver transplant recipients and 16 non-transplanted healthy individuals employing either oligonucleotide microarrays and/or quantitative real-time PCR to design a clinically applicable molecular test. This has resulted in the discovery and validation of several gene signatures comprising a modest number of genes capable of identifying tolerant and non-tolerant recipients with high accuracy. The marker genes are KLRF1, SLAMF7, NKG7, IL2RB, KLRB1, FANCG, GNPTAB, CLIC3, PSMD14, ALG8, CX3CR1, RGS 3. Multiple peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets contribute to the tolerance-associated transcriptional patterns with NK and γdelta T cells exerting a predominant influence. The invention concludes that transcriptional profiling of peripheral blood can be employed to identify liver transplant recipients who can discontinue immunosuppressive therapy and that innate immune cells are likely to play a major role in the maintenance of operational tolerance in liver transplantation. | 06-02-2011 |

20110309072 | SELF-ASSEMBLABLE CONTAINER FOR GENERIC USE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF - The present invention refers to a self-assemblable container, preferably manufactured from ecologic materials such as standard fiberboard, comprising as its main structural elements a bottom, two longitudinal sides and two transverse sides of a basically rectangular shape having cauterized perimetrical faces to prevent moisture penetration into the structural elements that make up the container, thus providing long term structural stiffness to the perimetrical faces of the container's structural elements comparable to that of the fiberboard surface. Each of the main structural elements comprises in one side adjacent to another corresponding main structural element, tensile-resistant flexible tabs or receiving slots, the other corresponding main structural element in said side adjacent to the first main structural element respectively comprising slots or flexible tensile resistant tabs, said main structural elements being assembled together by the insertion of the flexible tabs into the receiving slots. In addition, the container may comprise an antisagging brace, a lid and/or two transverse laths. The invention also refers to a method of manufacturing the structural elements of a self-assemblable container by means of perimetrical laser cutting that by reason of the extremely high cutting temperature causes a reaction of the natural resins contained in the raw material and the resulting perimetrical cauterization. | 12-22-2011 |
