20090102825 | ENERGY RECOVERY CIRCUIT AND PLASMA DISPLAY APPARATUS - The present invention relates to an energy recovery circuit for supplying driving signals to a plasma display panel (PDP), and a plasma display apparatus employing the same. The plasma display apparatus includes a PDP, and a driver for generating a driving signal for driving the PDP. The driver includes a first capacitor that charges a voltage recovered from the PDP, an inductor that forms a resonant circuit together with the first capacitor, a voltage source that supplies a voltage for generating the driving signal, and a second capacitor connected between one end of the inductor and a voltage source. According to the present invention, in the event that a driving signal is to be supplied to a PDP using an energy recovery circuit, a capacitor is connected to one end of the inductor of the energy recovery circuit. Accordingly, distortion of a driving signal waveform supplied to a panel, which is caused by using a cheap element, can be prevented, damage to an inductor due to a voltage can be prevented, and stability of the energy recovery circuit can be improved. | 04-23-2009 |
20090109136 | APPARATUS FOR DRIVING PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND PLASMA DISPLAY APPARATUS THEREOF - The present invention relates to a driving apparatus for supplying a driving signal to a plasma display panel, and a plasma display apparatus employing the same. A reset signal supplied during a reset period of a first subfield of a plurality of subfields includes a first rising period where a voltage rises up to a first voltage, and a first sustain period where the first voltage is sustained. A reset signal supplied during a reset period of a second subfield includes a second rising period where a voltage rises up to a second voltage lower than the first voltage, and a second sustain period where the second voltage is sustained. The second voltage is higher than a sustain voltage. In accordance with the present invention, if it is sought to reset discharge cells of a PDP in a reset period, a signal whose voltage gradually rises up to a voltage higher than the sustain voltage is applied to a scan electrode. Accordingly, wall charges of the scan electrode for addressing can be controlled effectively, the highest voltage of the reset signal can be lowered and, therefore, driving margin can be secured. Further, since the sustain period of the highest voltage is included, stabilized discharge can be generated irrespective of variation of an APL of a display screen. | 04-30-2009 |

The method for resetting the plasma display panel, includes the steps of: forming initial wall charges in the discharge cells by means of a reset discharge in a set-up period; and erasing unnecessary wall charges of the initial wall charges from the discharge cells by means of an erasing discharge in a set-down period, wherein a period where the sustain electrodes are floated during the set-up period is set in one or more sub-fields. | 03-05-2009 |
20090128532 | METHOD FOR DRIVING A PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL - A method for driving a plasma display panel is disclosed. The driving method alternately applies sustain pulses to a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode during a sustain period in a selective writing subfield followed by a selective erasing subfield. The driving method applies a first voltage to an address electrode in the selective writing subfield, the first voltage applied to the address electrode except a time when at least a last pair of sustain pulses is alternately applied to the scanning and sustain electrodes during the sustain period. The driving method applies a second voltage to the address electrode during the time when the last pair of sustain pulses is alternately applied to the scanning and sustain electrodes in the selective writing subfield. The driving method applies a second voltage to the address electrode during a sustain period in the selective erasing subfield. | 05-21-2009 |
