20110125363 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTING A CHARGE RELATED TO USE OF A VEHICLE DURING A PERIOD BASED ON OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE DATA - A software method controlling a computer device compares operational performance data collected and stored from a vehicle to a predetermined criterion and determines, based on the comparison, whether to adjust a baseline charge for usage of a vehicle during the period. The software may compare data corresponding to one, or more, different parameters to determine the charge adjustment, the parameters including average MPG, engine revolutions, revolution-minutes, or fuel used during the period. The software method may use average values for MPG for the particular vehicle obtained prepared by a governmental agency. The method may also use criterion derived from governmental information. Or, the criterion may be a predetermined value based on a business consideration, such as number of engine revolutions corresponding to a given number of miles traveled. If the vehicle's engine turns more than the predetermined number during a period, the charge corresponding to use during period is increased. | 05-26-2011 |

20090182355 | Porous barbs for long-term anchoring in the gastrointestinal tract - Gastrointestinal implants in areas such as the esophageal area, the stomach, and the intestinal area are used in the treatment of conditions like obesity and diabetes. An implant including an anchor with barbs having pores, can allow for longer term anchoring. The pores can promote tissue ingrowth from the surrounding tissue that the barb is penetrating, thus advantageously allowing increased stability and longer term anchoring compared to a non-porous barb. | 07-16-2009 |
20100305590 | Transpyloric Anchoring - Gastrointestinal implants can be used to secure thin-walled sleeves, restrictor plates, and other devices within the gastrointestinal tract. An example implant includes three elements: a stomach anchor to resist distally oriented forces; a duodenal anchor to resist proximally oriented forces; and a connector element to keep the stomach anchor fixed relative to the stomach anchor. The implant is inserted into the gastrointestinal tract with a delivery device that holds the implant in a compressed state for minimally invasive delivery until the implant is positioned properly. Upon releasing from the delivery device, the implant expands to a relaxed state across the pylorus, allowing prongs that extending outward from the stomach and duodenal anchors to engage tissue in the gastrointestinal tract. The deployed implant may also include a thin-walled sleeve that extends into the intestine from the stomach anchor, duodenal anchor, or connector element. | 12-02-2010 |

20100139645 | Balanced support and solar tracking system for panels of photovoltaic cells - A solar tracking mechanism and mounting platform for solar panels is mounted with three or four legs attachable to a concrete pad and includes a substantially vertically disposed axle and a substantially horizontally disposed axle to which a plurality of panel support members are mounted to form a panel support assembly. The vertically disposed axle allows at least 240 degree rotation of the panel support assembly to follow the daily East-West travel of the Sun in the sky. The substantially horizontally disposed axle allows declining or tilting of the panel support assembly for the North-South adjustment of the panel support assembly to correspond to the geographic latitude of the location where the solar tracking mechanism and platform is used. The substantially horizontally disposed axle is placed on the centroid or substantially on the centroid location relative to the panel support members, including solar panels so that, as a result, the assembly is completely or substantially balanced and can be placed horizontally or in any inclined position without the weight of the assembly, including solar panels mounted thereon, causing it to precipitously drop or fall. | 06-10-2010 |

20110172686 | Device For Engaging Tissue Having a Preexisting Opening - A system for performing an end-to-side vascular anastomosis. including an anastomosis device, an application instrument and methods for performing a vascular anastomosis. The system is applicable for performing an anastomosis between a vascular graft and the ascending aorta in coronary artery bypass surgery, particularly in port-access CABG surgery. A first aspect of the invention includes a vascular anastomosis staple. A first configuration has two parts: an anchor member, forming the attachment with the target vessel wall and a coupling member, forming the attachment with the bypass graft vessel. The anastomosis is completed by inserting the coupling member, with the graft vessel attached, into the anchor member. A second configuration combines the functions of the anchor member and the coupling member into a one-piece anastomosis staple. A second aspect of the invention includes an anastomotic fitting, having an inner flange over which the graft vessel is everted and an outer flange which contacts the exterior surface of the target vessel. A tailored amount of compression applied by the inner and outer flanges grips the target vessel wall and creates a leak-proof seal between the graft vessel and the target vessel. A third aspect of the invention has a flange to which the graft vessel attaches, by everting the graft vessel over the flange, and a plurality of staple-like members which attach the flange and the everted end of the graft vessel to the wall of the target vessel to form the anastomosis | 07-14-2011 |
