20100196994 | Fungi cultivation on alcohol fermentation stillage for useful products and energy savings - A method of processing stillage from fermentation derived alcohol is disclosed, including dry-grind ethanol production from corn, by fermentation with filamentous fungi. This produces high-value fungal biomass that can be recovered by screening, is easily dewatered and used as an animal feed, human food or as a source of nutraceuticals. The methodology uses an airlift reactor to enhance the morphology of the fungi for easy harvesting and separation of water for recycling and reuse and to recover added enzymes and mineral acid with the water. The process also separates oil from the stillage. The fungal processing removes organic substances from the water that are otherwise inhibitory to the reuse prospects for the water, i.e. suspended and dissolved organic matter, including glycerol, lactic and acetic acids. The process also separates oil from the stillage by enmeshing the oil in the fungal biomass and can produce more oil through cultivation of oleaginous fungi. This approach generates revenue from low value thin stillage, while substantially reducing stillage processing costs, mainly by averting the need for evaporation of the thin stillage. | 08-05-2010 |

20080273423 | Method and Apparatus for Fault-Tolerant, Correlation SONAR Processing - A system is disclosed that enables the use of an incomplete SONAR array matrix in a correlation SONAR system. An improvement is achieved through the generation of a correlation-array model matrix of hydrophone correlations, based on an independent estimate of the ship's velocity, such as from an inertial navigator. Meanwhile, estimates of the missing values are generated based on one or more values from the model matrix, an interpolation of values from the SONAR array matrix itself, or some combination thereof. Regardless of how the missing values are generated, the model matrix provides a basis for comparison with the SONAR array matrix, which is populated with the estimated values, wherein subsequent comparisons are made between successive iterations of the model matrix and the SONAR array matrix. By applying the disclosed technique, a correlation SONAR system with incomplete data is able to continue working, and in the presence of a greater number of hydrophone failures than before. | 11-06-2008 |
20090059723 | Combined Spatial-Temporal Correlation SONAR - A system is disclosed that provides a sonar system featuring combined spatial and temporal correlation array processing. The disclosed system merges spatial-based velocity errors with temporal-based velocity errors by using a combining algorithm that is based on the optimization criteria that the output after combining has no bias error and has a minimized mean square error. With these criteria, the combining algorithm takes the form of a weighted summation of the spatial data stream and temporal data stream inputs with the weights being a function of the relative velocity errors. In combining spatial and temporal processing in this manner, the disclosed system provides improved velocity measurements for a wider range of ship's speeds. In particular, the system achieves performance levels of a spatial correlation sonar for low ship's speeds for which a temporal correlation sonar solution might not be available. The system also achieves performance levels of a temporal correlation sonar for high ship's speeds for which a spatial correlation sonar solution might not be available. | 03-05-2009 |
20100149921 | SPATIAL CORRELATION SONAR METHOD FOR HIGH SHIPS SPEEDS - In an embodiment, a process measures a velocity of a vessel using a spatial correlation sonar hydrophone array. The process includes the step of selecting a correlation time such that a correlation occurs between an early pulse and a later pulse on a first hydrophone and a second hydrophone respectively, wherein the first hydrophone and the second hydrophone are maximally separated in the spatial correlation sonar hydrophone array. The process further includes the step of selecting a time spacing between a first pulse and a second pulse such that the spacing is a function of the correlation time and a constant, wherein the constant is proportional to a size of the spatial correlation sonar hydrophone array, and wherein the correlation time is an approximate multiple of a sum of a time between the first pulse and the second pulse and a time between the second pulse and a next first pulse. | 06-17-2010 |
20110103188 | SYSTEM AND METHOD TO EXTEND DEEP WATER CORRELATION SONAR SYSTEMS TO SHALLOW DEPTHS - In an embodiment, a correlation SONAR system is adapted for use in shallow water. After the receiving the echoes of the initial burst of pulses, a second burst of pulses is transmitted towards the bottom of the body of water. The echoes of the second burst of pulses are received on the hydrophone array, and a SONAR processor correlates a pulse from the initial burst of pulses and a pulse from the second burst of pulses to calculate a velocity estimate. | 05-05-2011 |
20110182146 | Correlation Method for SONAR or RADAR - A method for improving the accuracy of velocity-measuring spatial correlation SONAR or RADAR is disclosed. 20130021069 | DIRECT DIGITAL SYNTHESIZER FOR REFERENCE FREQUENCY GENERATION - A direct digital frequency synthesizer includes a multi-modulus divider, a numerically controlled oscillator and a programmable delay generator. The divider receives an input clock having an input pulse frequency and outputs some integer fraction of those pulses at an instantaneous frequency that is some integer fraction (1/P) of the input frequency. The divider selects between at least two ratios of P (1/P or 1/P+1) in response to a signal from the oscillator. The oscillator receives a value which is the accumulator increment (i.e. the number of divided pulse edges) required before an overflow occurs that causes the divider to change divider ratios in response to receiving an overflow signal. The oscillator also outputs both the overflow signal and a delay signal to the delay generator. The delay signal contains phase-dithering noise that is induced by input into the accumulator of an increment generated from a pseudo-random noise generator. | 01-24-2013 |

20130053815 | HIGH RECOVERY VIAL ADAPTOR - Some medicaments, such as botulinum toxin, are sold in small glass vials with a cap that comprises a seal. The seal is punctured to allow liquid to be added to reconstitute the medicament, then allow the medicament to be withdrawn through a needle into a syringe. A substantially larger amount of a liquid medicament may be obtained by using an adaptor device. An adaptor device may have a puncture component that allows a flexible tube to be inserted through the seal at an angle that allows an end of a flexible tube to rest on the bottom on a vial around the edge of the vial. This may allow vial to be tipped so that the liquid pools around the end of the flexible tube, thus significantly increasing the amount of liquid that can be withdrawn. | 02-28-2013 |
