20080268968 | Super oval large scale automotive venue - A racing facility is arranged to accommodate various types of automotive racing, including Indy, CART, Formula 1 cars etc., and is disclosed to include a super oval or complex oval arrangement of racing surface in at least two loops of racing surface each looping about a common central area, and connecting to one another at an overpass feature. The racing facility of the present invention is a continuous closed circuit speedway with at least two loops which loop about a common center area and with speedway passing over itself at least once at a crossing which is not of a common grade level, such as an overpass, underpass or bridge, and so that the speedway does not have a crossing at a common or the same level, to thus allow a vehicle making an entire circuit of the speedway the option of only making turns in one direction and not passing over any portion of the racing surface more than once is a single complete circuit or lap of the racing surface. | 10-30-2008 |
20100016089 | Proposed Running Track Design for Fairer 200 M and 400 M Races - The present invention is directed to a system and method for conducting a more fair race around an oval track by having runners in each lane run equal arc angles. Such a configuration eliminates the disproportionate effect of centrifugal force on competitors running in different lanes. Embodiments of the invention provide for the addition of a straight section to a standard oval track extending from a curved section perpendicular to the existing straightaway section. Runners in each lane start at staggered locations on the straight section. The staggered starting locations are chosen such that each runner travels an equal distance from the starting location to a common finish line. A single straight section may be employed to conduct races covering the entire length and half the length of the oval track or two straight sections may be employed to allow finishes for both races at a common finish line. | 01-21-2010 |
20110312429 | RACECOURSE SYSTEM AND METHODS THEREOF - A race course system for operating scale vehicles having a race course section having a race course portion, a base support, a hinge, a portable member, an attachment member, a strut mechanism, and a console. | 12-22-2011 |
20120034984 | Cycloid ramp for gravity race cars - This invention relates to gravity-driven car racing, specifically an improved ramp, such as used in the popular Pinewood Derby race, which is cycloid shaped. The present invention eliminates excessive centripetal force and related problems such as car oscillation caused by prior art ramps which are curved too much or curved in the wrong places. The present invention comprises a ramp shaped as a section of a cycloid curve with the ramp bottom tangent to the horizontal coasting run. It can be shown mathematically that such a curve will produce the least possible centripetal force and associated friction increase in the car wheels as it accelerates toward the coasting run. The present invention causes a ramp to assume the cycloid shape by applying appropriate bending forces to the underside of the ramp. In a preferred embodiment, a hinged brace automatically applies the key bending force as the main support legs are lowered. | 02-09-2012 |
20130157769 | TRACK CONFIGURED FOR PASSING THROUGH TURNS - The present invention provides a race track configured to encourage passing. The race track includes a pavement that defines a turn, a first path around the turn, and a second path around the turn. The second path is longer than the first path, and the two paths are spaced-apart such that a first car can travel on the first path and a second car can travel on the second path in an overlapped position relative to the first car. At least a portion of the first path passing over a plurality of depressions defined in the pavement at predetermined positions. The depressions configured to reduce the amount of friction available to the first car such that the first car is slowed sufficiently for the second car to maintain the overlap position or pass the first car through the turn as the second car travels on the longer second path. | 06-20-2013 |
20140256459 | Section race track with roll over vehicles - The invention entails a modular sectional race track with recreational style racing vehicles, such as four wheel all terrain recreational vehicles. The sectional race course usually has moving obstacles, various obstructions plus the general design of the course track induces the racing vehicles to spin out, tilt over on their side or framework roof and/or rollover completely. The race vehicles have specifically designed roll over frameworks that, with the driver's safety harness fastened, assist the racing vehicles to roll back over on to its drive tires. The racing vehicle may be additionally assisted to roll back over by a driver initiated mechanical righting device. The race tracks' sections can be configured to be sized and shaped for specific race venues. The track sections can be quickly attached, detached and transported as needed. | 09-11-2014 |

20130090177 | Simplified Racetrack - A racing surface and configuration that requires only moving, tilling, or plowing of land and has a finish line that is different from the starting line. | 04-11-2013 |
20140073442 | Artificial Surface Suitable for Making Horse Tracks - An artificial surface suitable for making horse tracks includes fine siliceous sand with median granulometry less than 500 μm and a silica content higher than 60 % wt., and a proportion by weight ranging from 3 to 5% of very fine hollow synthetic fibers of polyester or polypropylene. | 03-13-2014 |
