20140352227 | TRAILER DOOR SEAL - A one-piece seal is used between the rear doors of a semi-trailer truck and the rear frame of the truck, the seal having a good compression set resistance. The seal is made from multiple extrusion members that are fused, welded, or otherwise integrally, monolithically connected at corner joints to form a central opening. The extrusion members have a sealing profile, or cross-section, that allows for the compression and deflection of a pair of sealing lobes to create inner and outer seals, respectively, between the trailer frame and the door structure at the rear of a semi-trailer truck, as well as between the doors themselves. | 12-04-2014 |
20140069018 | ROLL-UP DOOR SEAL - A roll-up door seal that may be monolithically formed from a single material of uniform density. The seal is sized and adapted to assemble to a standard roll-up door frame without a separate or dedicated frame structure. The seal provides redundant sealing surfaces, positioned to cooperate with both the door and door frame, which ensure an effective and durable fluid tight seal between the cargo space enclosed by the roll-up door and the ambient environment. The seal may be produced by extrusion from a flexible, weather resistant material such as EPDM, thereby providing a low cost solution for sealing roll-up doors having industry standard door frame constructions. The seal is firmly engageable with the door frame, such that the seal may be installed with little or no secondary fixation. | 03-13-2014 |
20120023829 | TRAILER DOOR SEAL - A one-piece seal is used between the rear doors of a semi-trailer truck and the rear frame of the truck, the seal having a good compression set resistance. | 02-02-2012 |
20120007315 | EXPANSION RING ASSEMBLY - An expansion ring assembly seals a gasket with respect to an annular wall of a rigid structure. The expansion ring assembly includes two arcuate expansion ring bands that cooperate to define a generally circular profile. At one side of the expansion ring assembly, a first pair of ends of the expansion ring bands overlap and include a ratcheting mechanism which allows the ring to incrementally expand but not to contract. At another location of the expansion ring assembly, a second pair of ends are joined by a drive mechanism for engaging and driving apart the opposing ends of an expansion ring to thereby non-incrementally expand the ring. The ratchet mechanism may be used to initially set and hold the expansion ring against a gasket in a desired position and to provide an initial expansion pressure, i.e., for a coarse adjustment. The drive mechanism may then be used to provide a final expansion pressure of the gasket, i.e., for a fine adjustment. Advantageously, the coarse adjustment followed by the final adjustment allows a user to quickly and precisely achieve a desired gasket pressure by manipulating the torque applied to the drive mechanism. | 01-12-2012 |
20110074116 | COLLAPSIBLE EXPANSION MECHANISM FOR EFFECTING A SEAL - An expansion mechanism of the type that may be used with a seal for sealing a connection about the upper end of a concrete structure, such as providing as seal across a manhole frame, optionally one or more spacer rings, and the upper end of a manhole chimney or riser, or which may be used with a seal for internally sealing a connection between a pair of pipes. The expansion mechanism includes a pair of ring portions and a pair of expansion mechanisms that include pivotal connections to the ring portions such that the assembly may be moved or folded between a folded configuration, in which the assembly has a reduced profile to allow the assembly to be moved into place at the sealing site, and a deployed configuration, in which the assembly has a cylindrical shape and is expandable to compress the seal against a cylindrical surface. | 03-31-2011 |
20110024993 | GASKET AND MANDREL ASSEMBLY FOR PIPE JOINTS - A gasket and mandrel assembly, including a gasket having an annular main body portion with an anchor flange and a pipe sealing portion. The gasket is foldable between a folded position in which the pipe sealing portion is disposed substantially within the main body portion and an unfolded position in which the pipe sealing portion extends outwardly of the main body portion along its longitudinal axis. A pair of mandrels are respectively fitted on opposite sides of the folded gasket to enclose most of the gasket for casting the gasket within a wall in a concrete structure. At least one of the mandrels includes an annular outer surface aligned parallel or substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the gasket. Removal of the mandrels results in the cast opening in the concrete structure having a circular inner surface which is disposed parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the gasket and the resulting opening such that, if the gasket should fail, the gasket may be removed from the opening and an expansion-type gasket may be sealingly compressed against the opening surface with an expansion band assembly. | 02-03-2011 |
20090278321 | INTERNAL PIPE SEAL - A pipe sealing assembly, and a method of installing the pipe sealing assembly, for sealing a connection between a pair of underground pipes, including a generally cylindrical seal or gasket having at least three axially spaced sealing portions. Each sealing portion has a plurality of compressible sealing ridges, as well as an annular expansion band seat capable of receiving the expansion band of an expansion band assembly that is used to sealingly compress each sealing portion against a respective inner surface of a pipe. The sealing portions may include a middle sealing portion that may directly sealingly engage about, and bridge, a joint between two pipes, or may directly sealingly engage about, and bridge, a crack in a pipe. Additionally, each sealing portion may include a hollow section which houses the expansion band assembly, and may be provided with a small slit for installing the expansion band assembly. The expansion band assembly includes one or more expansion bands and one or more expansion mechanisms. The expansion bands may be initially installed as part of the pipe sealing assembly, while the expansion mechanisms may be installed after the pipe sealing assembly is brought underground through a structure, such as a manhole, and positioned at an installation site. | 11-12-2009 |
20090155000 | GROUT AND LIFTING TUBE - A grout and lifting tube for casting within a concrete segment. The tube provides enhanced sealing between the tube and the concrete to prevent moisture leakage into a structure formed by a plurality of the concrete segments. The tube includes a generally cylindrical body having an exterior with an anchoring rib structure, a threaded interior, a proximal end, a distal end. An annular gasket is disposed at the proximal end of the tube body, and may be secured to the proximal end of the tube body by a mechanical interlock and/or by unitary co-molding. After the concrete section is placed and grout is pumped through the tube, a plug is threadable into the proximal end of the tube to both compress the gasket between the plug and the tube at a first seal, and to compress the gasket between the plug and the concrete surrounding the proximal end of the tube at a second seal to provide robust, watertight sealing. | 06-18-2009 |
20090051125 | INTERNAL PIPE SEAL - A pipe sealing assembly for sealing a connection between a pair of pipes. The sealing assembly includes a generally cylindrical seal or gasket having a pair of axially spaced sealing portions joined by a bridge portion. Each sealing portion has a plurality of compressible sealing ridges, as well as an annular expansion band seat capable of receiving the expansion band of an expansion band assembly that is used to sealingly compress each sealing portion against a respective inner surface of a pipe. Additionally, each sealing portion may include a hollow section which houses the expansion band assembly, and may be provided with a small slit for installing the expansion band assembly and allowing access to the expansion mechanism of the expansion band assembly during installation, or a separate cover member for enclosing the expansion band assembly. | 02-26-2009 |
