20160109614 | MULTI-COMPONENT INDUCTION LOGGING SYSTEMS AND METHODS USING BLENDED-MODEL INVERSION - At least some disclosed resistivity logging system embodiments include a logging tool and a processing system. The logging tool provides multi-component transmitter-receiver coupling measurements to the processing system. The processing system derives from the measurements initial formation parameter estimates based on a first formation model such as a radially-symmetric formation model having anisotropic, but otherwise homogenous dipping formation. The processing system further derives in one or more selected regions a second set of formation parameter estimates based on a second formation model such as a model having a dipping borehole through a series of horizontal formation layers, each having a vertical transverse isotropy. The processing system produces an output set of formation parameter estimates which, in the selected regions, depend on the second set of formation parameter estimates, and in at least some regions outside the selected regions, solely depend on the initial formation parameter estimates. | 04-21-2016 |
20150218885 | Anti-Reverse Mechanism for Mud Motor - Disclosed are systems and methods for preventing backdriving of a mud motor through its output. One disclosed mud motor may include a housing having a longitudinal axis, a rotor disposed within the housing and configured to rotate generally about the longitudinal axis in a first direction with respect to the housing when a flow of fluid is provided to the power generator, an output shaft at least partially disposed within the housing and coupled to the rotor, and an anti-reverse bearing arranged radially between the output shaft and the housing and configured to support the output shaft within the housing and allow rotation of the output shaft in the first direction but resist rotation of the output shaft in a second direction about the longitudinal axis with respect to the housing, the second direction being opposite the first direction. | 08-06-2015 |
20140338913 | TREATMENT FLUID CONTAINING A CORROSION INHIBITOR OF A WEAK BASE - A treatment fluid comprising: water; a formate; and a corrosion inhibitor, wherein the corrosion inhibitor is capable of providing: (A) a pH of at least 10; and (B) a corrosion rate equal to or less than 4 mils per year wherein carbon dioxide accounts for at least 100 psi (0.7 MPa) of the total pressure, for a test fluid consisting essentially of: the water; the formate; and the corrosion inhibitor, and in the same proportions as in the treatment fluid, whereas a substantially identical test fluid without the corrosion inhibitor has a pH of less than 10 and a corrosion rate of greater than 4 mils per year under the testing conditions. The treatment fluid can further comprise a scale inhibitor. A method of treating a portion of a well comprises: forming the treatment fluid; and introducing the treatment fluid into the well. | 11-20-2014 |
20140033815 | RELAXIVITY-INSENSITIVE MEASUREMENT OF FORMATION PERMEABILITY - Systems and methods that provide relaxivity-insensitive permeability logs. At least some logging system embodiments include a logging tool assembly that measures spin-spin relaxation time distributions of formation fluid nuclei at different positions along a borehole. A processor operates on the measurements to provide a permeability log that is relatively insensitive to relaxivity coefficient changes and hence insensitive to changes in formation fluids. Thus, permeability logs will be relatively unaffected by invasion of the borehole fluids into the formation, even if surfactants in the borehole fluid cause large changes in formation wettability. For each position logged within a borehole, the processor may process the measured relaxation time distribution to determine a Swanson parameter value; adjust the Swanson parameter value to reduce dependence on relaxivity; and convert the adjusted value to a permeability measurement. Examples are included below to demonstrate the markedly increased permeability measurement accuracy. | 02-06-2014 |
20130113468 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING LINEAR DISPLACMENT - For some embodiments, a system includes a moveable structure, moveable in at least a linear direction relative to a supporting structure, a magnetic field sensor assembly including a magnetic field sensor, and a magnet, wherein one of the magnet and the magnetic field sensor is coupled to the moveable structure, and wherein the other of the magnet and the magnetic field sensor assembly is coupled to the supporting structure, and wherein the magnetic field sensor assembly is configured to determine the relative position of the magnet to the magnetic field sensor. | 05-09-2013 |
20130025869 | Thermally Stable, Nonionic Foaming Agent for Foam Fracturing Fluids - A method foamed fracturing may include providing a wellbore that extends into a subterranean formation and introducing a foamed fracturing fluid into the subterranean formation at a pressure sufficient to create or enhance at least one fracture in at least a portion of the subterranean formation. The foamed fracturing fluid may generally include an aqueous base fluid, a sugar derivative foaming agent, and a gas. | 01-31-2013 |
20120241172 | PIPE CONVEYED EXTENDABLE WELL LOGGING TOOL - A pipe conveyed extendable well logging assembly includes a deployment system for extending and retracting a well logging tool relative to the pipe while downhole. The logging tool may be releasably latched to the pipe, and may include position sensors for position feedback and depth correction. | 09-27-2012 |
20120190595 | Carboxylic Acid and Oxidizer Clean-Up Compositions and Associated Methods of Use in Subterranean Applications - Methods of reducing the viscosity of a viscosified treatment fluid; providing a clean-up composition comprising a carboxylic acid; a chlorite-based breaker system comprising an alkali metal compound and an activator wherein the activator comprises a metal and an amine. Placing a viscosified treatment fluid in a subterranean formation via a well bore penetrating the subterranean formation; first contacting the viscosified treatment fluid with the chlorite-based breaker; and then contacting the viscosified treatment fluid with the clean-up composition; and, allowing the viscosity of the viscosified treatment fluid to reduce. | 07-26-2012 |
