Abstract:
Sodium Bi-carbonate, more commonly known as Baking Soda, is a chemical
with varied uses in our homes. A few among these, are its use in killing
odor or foul smell emanating from food kept in refrigerators and/or
closed compartments and also as a preservative to extend the shelf life
of food items. The invention titled Fridge Freshener and Food Saver (3FS)
is about a gadget to sprinkle/disperse the baking soda in the environment
where-in it is intended to be applied viz. refrigerators, freezers and
cooling cabinets etc; there by facilitating its chemical reaction with
the inside air and the resultant change in pH in turn helping in killing
the odor and extending the shelf life of contents/food items stored
there-in.Claims:
1. A gadget named here-in as Fridge Freshener and Food Saver (3FS) to
sprinkle/disperse the powdered particles of baking soda in the
environment inside a refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet; there by
increasing the likelihood of air, contained there-in; to come in contact
with the baking soda so dispersed. It is assembled from two basic
components namely a Blower to create pressurized air, and a Bowl to hold
the powder of Baking Soda. The two components are assembled with the help
of appropriate fixtures in such a way that on its (3FS's) operation,
while placed inside a refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet; the incoming
air from the Blower impinges upon the top layer of Baking Soda and the
resultant turbulence causes the Baking Soda particles to fly away from
the Bowl and disperse in the environment contained by the
refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet; thereby improving the possibility
and resultant efficacy of the chemical reaction that assists in
deodorizing and food preservation.
2. This gadget can be fixed or just placed inside the refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet.
3. The gadget can be operated Manually or Automatically at set interval and/or time or linked to operation of the equipment it has been attached to, like operation of the door, or as and when desired.
Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of Invention
[0002] Household Appliances--Refrigeration
[0003] 2. Description of Related Art
[0004] Baking Soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, sodium hydrogen carbonate or bicarbonate of soda, is a mineral which is found in nature. It has over sixty documented uses predominantly related to household cleansing, cooking, foods' preservation and hygiene etc. Killing of odor in the refrigerators and cooling cabinets and extending the self life are among its much practiced applications.
[0005] In refrigerators and cooling cabinets, baking soda is placed in open containers and intended purpose (de-odorizing and food preservation) is served by reaction of the air inside the compartment with the baking soda. Such contact initiates a chemical reaction with change in pH of the environmental air.
SUMMARY
[0006] Baking Soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, sodium hydrogen carbonate or bicarbonate of soda, is widely recommended for killing odor in the refrigerators and cooling cabinets and extending the shelf life of food items.
[0007] As of now, this is accomplished by placing baking soda in open containers and the intended purpose is served by reaction of the air inside the compartment with the baking soda. However, such reaction is passive in nature and thus has limited efficacy.
[0008] Fridge Freshener and Food Saver (3FS) is a gadget to sprinkle/disperse the powdered particles of baking soda in the environment inside the refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet; there by increasing the likelihood of air contained there-in to come in contact with the baking soda so dispersed and thus facilitating its chemical reaction to yield the desired benefits of killing the odor and extend the shelf life of food stored there in.
[0009] 3FS comprises of two basic components namely:
[0010] A Blower to create pressurized air, and
[0011] A Bowl to hold the powder of Baking Soda.
[0012] These two components are assembled with the help of appropriate fixtures in such a way that the exit of pressurized air from Blower faces the Bowl. On operation, the incoming air from the Blower impinges upon the top layer of Baking Soda and the resultant turbulence causing Baking Soda to fly away from the Bowl and disperse in the environment. When placed inside a refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet, the Baking Soda particles will mingle with the inside air and the resultant chemical reaction will yield the deodorizing and food preservation effects.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0013] The invention relates to a gadget called here-in "Fridge Freshener and Food Saver (3FS)" is a gadget to sprinkle/disperse the powered particles of baking soda in the environment inside the refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet.
[0014] 3FS comprises of two basic components namely:
[0015] Blower to create pressurized air, and
[0016] Bowl to hold the powder of Baking Soda.
[0017] These two components and their assembly are described in the following paragraphs:
[0018] Blower
[0019] A blower is used to deliver pressurized air on a continuous basis. It is an Electro-mechanical device with an electrical motor rotating a set of blades or an impeller. Its working principle is similar to that of a Hair Dryer (except for absence of heating) or that of a Lawn Leaf Blower and is essentially a micro variant of such equipment.
[0020] On rotation of blades/impeller, air is sucked from one end and discharged as pressurized air from the other end, as depicted in FIG. 1.1.
[0021] The blower is fitted into a fixture, (Ref FIG. 1.3 at Annexure 3/5) and is placed upside down in the bowl (Ref FIG. 2 at Annexure 5/5) for use as 3FS.
[0022] Bowl
[0023] Typical shape of Bowl intended in this invention is a shallow dish with flared top edge and similar to that of a house hold soup bowl in its micro variant. A typical bowl is depicted in the diagram FIG. 1.4 enclosed as Annexure 4/5.
[0024] List of diagrams enclosed as Annexure is as follows:
[0025] 1. FIG. 1.1 at Annexure 1/5 depicts a typical blower.
[0026] 2. FIG. 1.2 at Annexure 2/5 depicts a typical frame.
[0027] 3. FIG. 1.3 at Annexure 3/5 depicts a blower as assembled/fitted to the frame.
[0028] 4. FIG. 1.4 at Annexure 4/5 depicts a typical bowl.
[0029] 5. FIG. 2 at Annexure 5/5 depicts a typical 3FS (Fridge Freshener and Food Saver), ready for use.
[0030] Note:--These diagrams are Schematic, Simplified and Not Drawn to Scale, and are meant only to help in understanding of the concept.
[0031] Operation
[0032] Blower Assembly is placed in the bowl containing baking soda powder, (as depicted in FIG. 2 at Annexure 5/5). On its operation, the incoming air from the Blower impinges upon the top layer of Baking Soda and the resultant turbulence causing Baking Soda to fly away from the Bowl and disperse in the environment. When this gadget is placed inside a refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet, the Baking Soda particles will mingle with the inside air and the resultant chemical reaction will yield the deodorizing and food preservation effects.
[0033] Scope of Application
[0034] This invention can be adopted in any existing refrigerator/freezer/cooling cabinet, as also in the ones to be manufactured in future.
