Description:
[0001]This invention is related to a method for reducing the contact and
transfer of unwanted material and potential pathogens between a person's
body areas comprising body openings, and/or e.g. underwear, jewellery,
other devices localized over or within such areas, and clothes and/or
body covers, when wearing, putting on or taking off "trying on clothes"
e.g. in a clothes shop, and or other clothes and/or body covers/devices.
[0002]Such reduction of contact is according to the invention achieved by coating such body areas with a flexible protective layer, at least during the putting on and/or taking off respectively of such clothes. The body areas in question are especially the head, particularly the face, and the lower part of the trunk, the bottoms area comprising the bottoms body openings.
Embodiments Related to the Head.
[0003]When trying on clothes, being pulled on and off over the head route and thereby contacting the head area, particularly the face, such clothes here defined as "upper garments". Exemplified by upper garments provided with an opening which when putting on or taking off the upper garment is passed tight to the head, it may, especially with upper garments having tight openings, be difficult or impossible to avoid contact between the upper garment and the head. This may cause that e.g. dirt, hair, body fluids, especially from the mouth, the nose and the eyes, and cosmetics are transferred from the person trying on the upper garment to the upper garment itself or from the upper garment, previously contaminated with e.g. cosmetics to the head of the person trying on said upper garment, i.e. contaminants from a person who previously tried on the upper garment in question. Common contaminants could be cosmetics/make-up or various residues from the body including all sorts of pathogens, e.g. viruses, fungi, bacteriae and prionae, e.g. from saliva, as well as from hair and from other body constituents. These contacts may cause unaesthetical and other unwanted effects on the upper garment and also be a potential health risk.
[0004]This invention is in one embodiment related to new methods and means for preventing and minimizing such effects by preventing and minimizing contact between a persons head and a upper garment when putting on or taking off upper garments with an opening which is passed over the head, and especially the face. This is achieved by protecting the head, and especially the face, with a, preferably thin, protective layer (sheet) of a flexible material prior to putting on and/or taking off the upper garment.
[0005]According to a preferred embodiment the protective layer is shaped as a hood with an opening which can be passed over the person's head.
[0006]The size of the protective layer is preferably selected so that it can be passed over and held to a person's head, especially the head of an adult or child of normal size.
[0007]The protective layer may be provided with means which are active against microrganisms and other pathogens, such as e.g. bacteriae and/or viruses, e.g. by being impregnated or coated with such substances or other substances contributing to the beneficial use of the invention.
[0008]The protective layer is preferably air permeable and/or transparent and/or translucent. The protective layer material may be porous, e.g. be woven, laid down as a fibre web, e.g. with paper-making technology, fibre-cloth, non-woven, or similar materials. The material may be water repellent (hydrophobous) and/or oil repellent, e.g. due to the characteristics of the layer material or due to coatings or impregnations applied to the layer. The layer material may have an average or maximum pore size of at most 1o mm, at most 1 mm, at most 0.1 mm at most 0.01 mm or below. The thickness of the layer material may be e.g. at most 10 mm, at most 1 mm, at most 0.1 mm, at most 0.01 mm, at most 0.001 mm, at most 0.0001 mm or less.
[0009]The protective layer may comprise areas with higher transparency and/or air permeability than the surrounding areas, which is suited to be arranged in front of the eyes and/or air ways of the wearer resp.
[0010]The protective layer may be smooth or partly or completely of non-smooth shape, e.g. wave-like or creased shape, with waves or pleats extending, preferably in parallel, in one direction or as crossing groups in two or more directions, i.e. like a net, or as alternating depressed and elevated areas, which contribute to an increase of the apparent thickness of the protective layer and contribute to a reduction of the contact between the protective layer and the face and/or the tried-on upper garment and/or prevent a restriction of the inflow of air at inhalation.
[0011]The protective layer used for protecting head areas, especially the face or parts thereof, is preferably shaped as a hood (this expression comprises also devices shaped as a pouch or bag) with optionally a contracted, elastic extensible (stretchable) partly or totally circumferential part at the opening of the hood. Preferably the protective layer is shaped as a hood of such depth and circumferential size that the hood can be arranged covering the head or parts thereof, especially the face or parts thereof, optionally with an elastic part extending from around the neck, below the chin, preferentially at the level of the thyreoid cartilage or lower. The protective layer may extend from the chin and reach up over and cover only the mouth, or the mouyth and the nose or the mouth, nose and eyes, or reach up to and preferably behind the top of the skull, e.g. at least 1 cm and at most 5 or at most 10 cm behind the top of the skull, and/or cover the main part of the cheeks, e.g. extending to close in front of the ears or behind the ears, eg. To at least 1 cm or at most 5 cm behind the ears, The protective device may be provided with at least one or more holding means, such as strips, especially elastic strips, e,g, rubber bands, with which the protective device can be held against and covering at least a part of the face or parts thereof, e.g. such as mentioned above, with said hoding means extending behind, and together with the rest of the device, encircling the head and hoding the device aganst the head, especially the face or part thereof, Such an embodiment of the device according to the invention may have a shape similar to a mask (moth mask) e.g. such as used by surgeons and especially covering the mouth or the mouth and the nose, preferably from below the chin.
[0012]The size and shape of the hood is suitably large enough to give ample space for the hair and the nose and cheek of the wearer, preferably without exerting any stress on the nose and the cheek. Potentially a set of different sizes will be available.
[0013]In a fully extended condition, especially when having a shape silmilar to a surgeon's hood, the circumference part of the opening suitably has a length of at least 60 cm, more preferably at least 70 or at least 80 cm or at least 100 cm, and in an elastically contracted condition suitably a length of the circumference part of at most 5 cm, at most 10 cm, at most 20 cm, at most 30 cm, at most 40 cm, at most 50 cm, at most 60 cm or at most 70 cm. The difference in length of the circumference between the fully extended condition and the fully elastic contracted condition may suitably bee at least 5 cm, at least 15 cm, at least 25 cm or at least 50 cm. These values are preferably measured at a stress on the layer material which gives at most 1% extension in one direction in the layer material in relation to a condition without stress on the material. The depth of the hood when the circumference is extended to an essentially fully extended condition or essentially circular shape or extended to the shape of a straight line and with the centre of the bottom of the hood subjected to a stress which gives at most 1% extension of the layer material in one direction, measured as the distance from the plane of the fully extended circumference or the centre of the straight line to the centre of the bottom of the hood may suitably be at least 2 cm, at least 5 cm or at least 10 cm and preferably at most 20 cm, at most 15 cm, at most 10 cm or at most 5 cm.
[0014]The enclosed figures show embodiments of the protective layer device, e.g. hood or mask, according to the invention used for protecting the head, especially the face or parts thereof.

Further Embodiments for Protecting the Upper Part of the Body, Especially the Head ("FeizOn")
[0023]When "being out shopping" and especially when putting on or taking off clothes via the upper body route, particularly with upper garments having tight openings, certain parts of the upper garment may inevitably be in contact with the neck and head, e.g. including face, hair jewelry and/or other worn devices of said area.
[0024]Thereby transmitting contaminants from one person to the upper garment and/or from the previous tried on upper garment, transmitting contaminants to the next person trying it on etc. Common contaminants could be make-up/cosmetics or various residues from the body including pathogens like viruses and bacteriae, as well as hair and other body constituents.
[0025]An upper garment discolored by e.g. mascara as well as an upper garment e.g. containing flue virus contaminated saliva, are both unwanted and of no benefit to any part.
[0026]This invention describes a "Dual Effect Method" to prevent and minimize such transmission. The invention thus describes a device that when pulling on and/or when pulling off an upper garment covers and protects the contact between an upper garment and the head/face of the person. The device could optionally include one or more holding mechanisms. The holding function of the device could also be a consequence of the various ingoing hood materials and its respective orientation. The optional holding mechanisms could be at multi levels as well as running in various directions. The holding mechanism or mechanisms are intended to increase the functionality of the device.
[0027]This device could optionally and preferentially be hood like. A hood that the person puts over his/her head (and face) before pulling on and/or before pulling off an upper body garment.
[0028]All components of this device and especially the sheet-/cover-part of the device, which usually is the major constituent of the device, should suitably be made of comfortable, soft and for the bearer of the device as well as for the upper garments themselves, non harmful materials, respectively.
[0029]The device is preferentially thought to be for single use and to be of a disposable character. Thereby being non expensive and easy to make, being easy for its handling and its disposal and preferentially made of components that only to a minimal degree contribute to waste and to pollution problematics.
[0030]The device is suitably made of materials that at least in part are semi-permeable, allowing a high degree of see-through and/or breath-trough, all being comfortable to wear and thus having a dual protection function.
[0031]The porosity of the device materials should still minimize transfer of contaminants from outer surface to inner surface and vice versa. The device should also to a reasonable degree prevent the penetration of e.g. saliva.
[0032]The sheet and head/face cover could optionally be made of several layers and with layers having different physical and biological characteristics, e.g. being anti-septic, being hydrophobic, having an appreciative smell, decorative color and optionally also carry an information and/or message, e.g. health- educational-, political-information, an advertisement or a signal regarding a commercial product or products, and/or possibly having a smell, e.g. of a certain perfume brand or of other commercial interest it is an advertisement for and optionally also having other, for the invention, beneficial characteristics and functions.
[0033]The device's material type or types and the characteristics of the ingoing materials, like e.g. porosity, thickness, surface characteristics (e.g. being creased (thereby decreasing the contact surface, "increase" of air let through, etc), being flat, being smooth), and the material's see-through, breathe-trough, could all vary within different parts of the device. An example of such material could be found in the head covers that e.g. surgeons wear.
[0034]The preferred variant of described device thus shares the characteristics of a hood. The opening of the hood optionally has some kind of closing mechanism, e.g. a rubber band that is sewn into the opening in a circumferential fashion, the hood is optionally "augmented" with, an optionally elastic, holding part or parts, lengthwise, optionally running in various directions or that the ingoing components and orientation of the hood material or materials, by it self or themselves has or have a sufficient holding function
[0035]The shape of the hood may be like a bag or pouch with the opening optionally being equipped with a holding and/or closing mechanism, e.g. a rubber band, or through other holding mechanisms, e.g. partly or totally being sticky, being electrostatic; all used mechanisms contributing to the hold and functioning. When the hood is worn over the head (and face), the holding and or closing mechanism or mechanisms is/are thereby suitably resulting in a partial or total, but not uncomfortable circumferential closure and/or hold preferentially including and around the person's neck, below the chin level, preferentially at the level of the thyroid cartilage.
[0036]The color, smell, size and shape of the hood could vary, however optionally should the size and shape fit most grown ups head sizes including the hair volumes. The size should thereby not be too tight, allowing the person's face and hair not to become overly squeezed. The size of the hood should thereby be suitable and having its protective dual function, also for someone having a "big" head/hair size as well as for someone having a small head size, e.g. a child. Different hoods may thereby also contain different information and also be part of a raffle, where the winning wearer, e.g. wins clothes or other form of prizes. A raffle or a similar kind of activity is also expected to stimulate the use of the invention as well as its other e.g. advertisements purposes.
[0037]The individual or the winning raffle marking could optionally be constructed and/or handled in a way that it is exposed and visualized only after the device have been used according to said invention.
[0038]A raffle or a similar kind of activity is also expected to stimulate the use of the invention and its e.g. advertisements/information/goal.

Protection of the Lower Part of the Trunk ("ButtzOn")
[0070]When "being out shopping" and trying on clothes for or clothes coming in contact with the bottom parts, like under wear or swim wear, there could be concerns of an intimate hygiene nature. These kinds of clothes are here defined as "lower garments".
[0071]There is an obvious risk of transmitting contaminants from one person to a lower garment and/or an earlier contaminated lower garment to be transmitting contaminants to the next person trying it on etc. Contaminants can include different sorts of pathogens and microorganisms, e.g. viruses, bacteriae, fungi and prionae, as well as hair and other body constituents. A lower garment discoloured or contaminated in any other ways, is both unwanted and of no benefit to any part.
[0072]This invention comprises a "Dual Effect Method" to prevent and minimize transmission of unwanted contaminants between lower garments and a person trying on said lower garments and vice versa.
[0073]All components of this device and especially the sheet/cover part of the device, which may constitute the major part of the device, should be made of comfortable, soft and for the bearer of the device as well as for the lower garments themselves, non harmful materials, respectively.
[0074]The device is preferentially intended for single use and to be of a disposable character. Thereby being non expensive and easy to make, being easy for its handling and its disposal and preferentially made of components that only to a minimal degree contribute to waste and to pollution problematics.
